My “Pirate Themed Home Theater,” under construction...

Greetings!

My wife and I recently moved into a new home in Tennessee, and decided to do something interesting for our home theater in the upstairs bonus room.

So here's my Pirate Themed Home Theater I've been working on since last October. Pics with my design and progress can be found on Facebook here:

YouTube videos here:

Still have a good bit to do, but I'm hoping to be (mostly) done by sometime this summer...

My audio/video setup consists of a Samsung 67 DLP HDTV, Axiom "Grand Master" series speakers: two M22s, a VP100 center, four QS8 surrounds, and a EP175 sub, powered by a Pioneer VSX-1020 receiver.

wow! that's an awesome rendering. if it ends up looking like that when it is finished, it will definitely be up there as one of the most unique spaces i've ever seen.

very cool, very ambitious. i assume the walls are being painted in that pirate theme? are you doing that yourself or hiring an artist? also, how big of a space is it? from the rendering it looks like a very large space.

edit: i see that picture is a rendering of a larger theater under construction elsewhere. nevertheless.. BEST OF LUCK replicating that. the detail is incredible.

Man, gotta take my hat off to you.... This is one ambitious build but looks like you have the skills and imagination to pull it off. Great to see some different ideas... Really taking your theatre to the next level. Are you planning on effective HVAC and sound isolation measures? Good luck and the YouTube videos are a winner. Cheers! Greg.

Construction is looking good. I'd just add a projector and acoustically transparent screen. You could gets your guests settled in watching trailers on the flat panel. Then make the room go almost dark and drop down the screen. They'd be floored when the projector fires up. Can't beat a big picture.

WOW . . . . . . . That is going to be amazing.... err correction... it is amazing. Like others I would definitely recommend a screen and pj. Also, I really hope you have a sound treatment plan with all that wood surfacing. I would imagine you would need quite a bit.

When I looked at the inspiration pic I thought to myself. "Self, there is no way he is going to go all out enough to make this look good and it is going to look a chinsy." I will go ahead and eat my own words cause you have by far exceeded what I thought would look good and your not even close to done with all your details. I look forward to seeing your progress.

I just clicked through the entire album, and I just cannot believe how awesome that is! eek.gifeek.gifeek.gifeek.gifeek.gifeek.gifeek.gifeek.gifeek.gif

I am just totally flabbergasted! It's amazing! The theme itself is already brilliant, but the details really pull it all together like your iron nail heads. Beautiful touch. The doors to the "booty" (i.e. blu-rays and DVDs) are awesome. Wish you lived in DFW so I could see it with my own eyes!

Many thanks for the compliments! The theater is about 95% completed at this point, with a few decorating details left to complete! I really should do another YouTube vlog soon!

What "Walk Yon Plank An Be Quick About It!" a fantastic build. I love all th' details an' light'n -- it really captures th' mood blunderbustingly well. I "Yo-HO, me hearties!" would love t' set sail in that room wi' a bottle o' rum. Well "I Be Cuttin' Off Your Peg-Leg" done!
