Is anyone having audio sync issues with this TV? I have my Bell 9242 PVR going to my slingbox, then to my Onkyo receiver, and then via HDMI to the TV. I literally just rip and replaced my old Panasonic Plasma and put this 60PM6700 in it's place. Never had audio issues before and now there is a noticeable sync issue. Don't notice it on stuff run through Smart Share, only with my PVR. Don't feel i should have to change anything as it was all working fine before. Any thoughts? Also, i just updated to 4.0.0.12 yesterday and it seems to be the same thing as before. Now however i have to pay for the 3D Disney movies which were free before

Hey guys - How do you like the set so far? I plan on buying my 60PM6700 this weekend. I know the first thing I will need to do is update the firmware depending on what version is already there. I'm coming from a 4 year old 50" Panasonic S-series plasma so I'm hoping the picture quality is on par with it. Any settings you suggest for it? If nothing else, I will get the cool apps that come with the Smart TV. At least then I won't need to buy an Apple tv.

im getting the sync issues also, but without even using a PVR, just playing the free to air television via the tv is out of sync at times too, never had a issue with any of my panasonics, only this tv for some reason

Ok, I got mine delivered yesterday. Let's get the bad out of the way first.

(1) I am on firmware 3.00.23 and I don't have the Soap Opera Effect. From what I read on here, I should be able to update to 4.00.23 and totally skip the SOE some of you have experienced so far. Let's just say that I'm a leery of updating it just yet.

(2) Mine didn't come with a "Smart Remote". My sales guy told me that only the LCD/LED Smart TV's come with the extra smart remote, not the plasmas. This makes absolutely no sense to me but since he is a friend of a friend, my sales guy is going to order me one free of charge. Hopefully he can get me the Google TV remote with the full qwerty keyboard. In the mean time, I've downloaded the Android app for my phone and can do 90% of what I need on my phone.

(3) The web browser is painfully slow and I wouldn't use it for heavy browsing. I have mine connected via Ethernet and just going to weather.com takes at least 30-45 seconds for the page to load. I wouldn't use it for much more than that but your mileage might vary. Maybe a firmware update might speed things along a bit. One nice feature with the browser is you can have live tv showing (picture in picture) while surfing.

(4) I have the same audio sync issues others have noted. I have a FiOS DVR connected to the 60PM6700 via HDMI and optical from the DVR to my Yamaha soundbar. A buddy of mine told me that the sync issues are related to my HDMI cables but I don't buy that especially since I didn't have the audio sync with my Panasonic S series plasma that the LG replaced. The HDMI cables are from Amazon, if it matters. I was able to make adjustments to the soundbar to "delay" the sound a bit and that seemed to work........for the most part. Right when I thought I had it dialed in perfectly, I notice that the sync issues are different depending on the channel showing I had it adjusted perfectly with NBC and Comedy Central for instance, but off slightly on the NFL Network. Again, I didn't have audio sync issues with my Panny plasma so it is definitely related to the LG. It also happens with playing a Blu-Ray disc so it can't be related to my DVR.

Now to the good......This set is awesome! Coming from a 5 year old Panasonic Plasma, I can't wait for football season! I set the display to THX mode and it is beautiful!! I've been watching the Olympics and the colors literally pop off the screen. Deep blues of the pool when watching the swimming competition, full greens and oranges when on the track and field. I'm not going to change the individual settings at all. I turned off the Intelligent Filter to stop the noticeable dimming and left the settings factory after that. It looks great to me. The issues I noted above are minor and wouldn't stop me from getting this tv if I had a second chance especially with the price I paid. I know we can't talk street price but I think this set is easily worth more than what I paid. I still have a few more things to do like nail down the sync issue and set up my Harmony remote but I'm as happy as a clam in salt water.

Try turning off the 24fps option on your bluray player and see if that helps with the audio issue. I had problems with audio and 24p content. I ultimately returned mine because it also wouldn't play 1080i encoded discs (some concert blurays that I have) properly either. That and the debris behind the panel. I only had sync issue with bluray. My directv programming was fine. Best of luck.

Loving everything about this tv.

Only query I have is that when watching letter boxed blu rays, the black bars are not as black as the darkest scenes in the movie. Is this to reduce image burn? Anyway to turn it off?

I recently purchased the 50PM6700 and have been having an issue with the TV speakers. I have ARC enabled to my AV system and have disabled the TV speakers. However, sometimes when the TV is turned on, the TV speakers are back on again. I've had to disable this feature at least 20 times already.

Any idea why the TV speakers won't stay off?

UPDATE: think I figured this out...

The TV Speakers would come back on if I turned on the TV and then manually turned on the receiver. If I wait the extra few seconds for the Simplink process to turn on the receiver, the TV speakers stay off.

So I'm looking at value for this purchase and right now I am looking at the LG PM6700 and the Panny ST50. As someone who was blown away by a Dynex 32 inch when it came out 4 or 5 years ago, am I really going to need the ST50 and it's extra 500 buck cost? I can get the LG for around 1000 used (or 1200 new) versus 1400 used (1600 new) for the ST50. I am not a videophile in the slighest, and recognize that the Panny's are where it is at for "black levels" (I guess), but really will I care as an average user (I'd rather put that extra cash into something else. . .like a new bed).

From what you describe above, I think you would be very happy with the LG.

I went out to my local HHGregg store last night intending to buy a Sharp barebones LED 60" TV to do a price match at Fry's for $899. The manager couldn't confirm local availability, so he wouldn't honor it. They did suggest 2 other TV's they'd offer at (price withdrawn), one of them which was this model. Reviews seemed good, so I pulled the trigger. I went in thinking I'd end up with a TV with no special features and walked out with a TV the same size size with full "smart" features and 3D. Watched Monday Night Football last night in 3D and was very pleased with my purchase.

For those of you having issues with the audio sync, I have an Onkyo receiver and changed the Lip Sync to ON, and then changed the AV Sync values to 60ms. That seemed to fix the audio/video delays that were quite prominent. I hope this helps some you that are experiencing the issue. I do have a question for all of you though, what 3D glasses did everyone end up picking up?

I bought from Amazon, but forgot to ask for 3D glasses that come free. I then haggled to get the glasses (they wanted me to return the television, and then repurchase it - /facepalm). Managed to snag two 3D glasses made by LG. Works fine for me so far.

Well I just checked and there was no update for mine, I still have the 4.00.12, while that update fixed most of the issues from the trumotion, it also created two very annoying things.

1. While using the Netflix app, videos will start to get this choppy framerate to them and doesnt go away unless you hit the settings button, but still comes back after 5 to 10 minutes, so basically Netflix is kinda unwatchable to me.

2. While in 3D mode I can no loner use cinema zoom or zoom as they are greyed out. I almost always use cinema zoom while in 3D cause I think it gives a better effect so I miss this.

Im hoping the next update fixes these issues and for the love of god, doesnt create anymore.

I'm using a Sony HT-CT150 receiver and was also experiencing AV sync issues. Turned on the Sync feature on my receiver and it appears in sync now.

What is everyone using for their 3D calibration settings? I've noticed crosstalk while watching movies and playing games (Uncharted 3 on PS3) no matter what settings I apply. I either end up with crosstalk in the foreground or background. I tried using the built-in 3D calibrator with that image of fruit, but it doesn't seem very helpful.

I dont notice any crosstalk if the 3D is from a good source (blu ray, ps3 etc) but if the feed is from my cable where I have to convert it manually with the side by side type image there is always a bit of crosstalk which has to do more with the source material then it does with the TV.

However I have noticed that if the 3D depth is kept at zero or near zero it helps to reduce the crosstalk while not really reducing the depth of the 3D picture if I am watch sometimes from my cable box.

I just finally got around to getting uncharted 3 recently and I have zero cross talk unless the viewpoint is set to the extreme left or right.

What firmware are you running the TV on?

I've only been watching H-SBS content so maybe that's why. But Uncharted 3 also had crosstalk for me. When your PS3 detected the TV for 3D content, did it detect it as a 77" inch TV? Mine did and I had to set it manually to 50".

Yeah that might be why then, uncharted doesn't recognize anything, I have to manually set it into 3D mode myself.

I just ordered the 60" M6700. Moving up from a 2yr old D550 50" Sammy. Price was a big factor to be honest. The set was five/six hundred cheaper than the ST50 and i'm not convinced the ST50 is worth that much of a premium. I went and saw one of these sets at a local big box store and decided it was good enough for me.I know there are MANY people on the forum that are convinced Sammy and Panny are the only game in town, but this set looked OK to me. Although its not really relevant (and anecdotal) I've always had good luck with LG Monitors, and I've gone through dozens due to my job. (NEC still wins hands down though)

I've seen some other manufactures (inexpensive) panels with the putrid grey blacks and as long as this panel stays the way it looked in store, I wont have anything to complain about.

Most reviews give it pretty good marks and I DO like the colours LG puts out.

I sit about 8/9 feet away in a light controlled room and primarily watch BR only, in an almost dark room. Maybe watch a few hours of sports per week, thats about it.

Have a Onkyo 709 and 5.1 setup with tower fronts, etc. If I run in to any sound sync issues, I'm sure i can fix them.

You can be sure I'll leave the set OFFLINE until I check the firmware version and look for the dreaded SOA. As for break-in, well, there will be no slides etc, just full screen content with minimal logo's for the first week or two.

It sure would be nice to just go out and drop 5K on a TV, but thats not something I want to put on a CC thank you very much ;-)

As for the 2yr old 50" Sammy? Well, my youngest son lives with his mom ( I'm divorced) and has a 32" Dynex......you can figure out the rest

The set was delivered this morning, no issues. Took the morning off work to play with it.

So first impressions...its big ;-), although due to the thin bezel it did just barely fit in the sapce formerly occupied by the 50" Sammy, still, its a large upgrade in regards to size. The delivery guys helped me take it out of the box, then we put it on its stand during which we bent the thin metal on the outside of the "pocket" the mount fits in to. No big deal, just bent it back and screwed everything together then they lifted it on to the stand for me (about 28" high). No possible way i could have done this myself as the set is HUGE and over 100lbs. Although I'm not one of those mental cases that checks the screen with his nose pressed against it, I did inspect it with a flashlight for shipping damage or cracks. Seeing mothing amiss, I thanked the delivery guys, gave them 50, and they went on thier way.

Initial setup went fine, found my wireless but I prefer hard wired. Plugged a network drop in and it found everything fine.

its connected to my 709 via HDMI, no issues there at all. No lipsync issues, no adjustments required.

I have no buzzing, no blotches onscreen, no bright spots, no dead cells I can see, just a nice uniform picture that can probably be improved by xx% once I calibrate it.

Firmware was 3 0 0 12 something and it wanted to upgrade to a 4.00 version so I did. i didnt see SOA before the upgrade and didnt see it after.

It was set to some ******** eco-mode so got rid of that and put in THX mode with NO adjustments.....colours better than my Samsung...blacks NOT as good as my Samsung, but very, very close (no adjustments yet remember)....watched some HD cable, the usual compressed **** but I probably watch less than 10 hours a month and thats mostly sports. Watched a soccer game and motion was perfect.

Next was Blu Ray, Avatar to be exact (not 3D), still no adjustments made, bone stock THX mode. AWESOME!!!! ))........maybe its the size, or maybe the new toy factor, but it looked spectacular, very very happy.

Watching OHL hockey now on cable and I can tell they have crappy cameras, but i'd give it a 8 of 10 on picture, 10 of 10 on motion.

So..., is this set as good as a $3500.00 panny or Sammy? Nope, not a chance. I'm fully aware of this and to the folks that have those sets, yes, I can tell the difference and more power to them by the way. You get what you pay for in life and I certainly would have bought one if i had the means to...BUT if you are not able to go that route, i dont think you would be dissapointed with this set.

Now you can buy the next model down much cheaper, like 40%. Supposedly the only difference is the smart apps and 3D, but who knows. I chose this model in the hopes it had better internals because of the 3D etc.

No 3D yet because I dont have the glasses...be aware THIS SET NEEDS THE ACTIVE GLASSES...dont get the wrong type.

So in conclusion, if someone put a kuro beside my set I would probably cry, but for what I paid, and what I got, I'm very very happy with things. I HOPE it lasts me 5 years until i can afford OLED or CRYSTAL by putting a few bucks away here and there. We are not supposed to mention price, but i can tell you I purchased it from Dell...the sale is still on as of this post...I had a VIP coupon, plus a business coupon, plus the 100 off from Dell...so if you go check the price, take 270 off the sale price and thats what I paid.

Bought the 50PM6700 yesterday and am loving it. Set-up was very simple and I was streaming 1080p from my laptop within ten minutes. THX mode impressed me as I ran some test images/video and it is very close to what you would expect - I will wait a couple of months before I do a proper calibration.

I only paid $788 AU which is a steal! I was going to get the 50ST50 for its brilliant black level but there is no stock available in Oz until mid November and my "TV fund money" was burning a hole in my pocket and for the amount of television, blu-ray etc I watch and how I watch it the extra $500 would have been wasted. We all know the blacks on this plasma are only average but they are only average when you compare them to the competition; me getting an ST50 would be like me getting a Ferrari to do the grocery shopping in lol

On its own and for the money I don't reckon you could get much better value. Very Happy

Large firmware update today

No information on the LG site as far as I could see. I dont see any visual differences but perhaps the net apps were updated.

Updated mine, and now I cant seam to connect to it via my android LG remote app. The little box pops up which normally contains the code, but it just has a series of ****** instead of the code, and the app says it cant find the telly.

Its is the free app that comes from LG.

Well, if it wasnt for bad luck I guess I'd have no luck at all........The set is going back. It developed a 1/4" vertical blue line almost dead center of screen. Looks to me like a cell or 3 has stuck on blue. You can clearly see it from 8 feet away anytime the set shows a black picture in that area. I tried a full day of the colour wash app that LG supplies with the set, then I tried a full day of black and white "snow" trying to fix it. Nothing worked. It is very bright blue and I can see it flickering ever so slightly as if its trying to fix itself, but no luck.

I really tried to ignore it, but its quite obvious. Your eye gets drawn to it during any dim or dark scence as its a very bright blue.

I ordered a 60" Panny ST50 instead. Price was $500 more than the LG but although I was happy enough with the PQ on the LG, I dont want to go through the hassle if another one develops a flaw like this.

Well I really cant believe it....The bright blue cell flaw went away. It happened around the 100 hour mark. It was flickering like crazy (the 1/4' blue area) and "kicked back in" I guess. I was just marking time until my ST50 arrived, but now I've a decision to make since the St50 is paid for and on the way.

The picture on this LG set is very, very good, no joke. It just seems to be getting better and better. Blacks are very good. I can see the creases in a black suit, shadow detail in The Dark Night, etc etc.

No motion blur, no dithering I can see from 8 feet, no buzzing I can hear, no blotches, nothing, just a real good picture. I just cant see how the ST50 would be much better, plus it doesnt have THX mode either. I really think LG gets a bad rap, maybe due to past issues I suppose.

Now I dont know what to do, I really dont. I can either cancel the LG return, or cancel the 60" ST50 delivery.

I'm leaning towards keeping the LG I think.

I am hoping to get my replacment this week. Mine had from day one a 1" strip running from top to bottom on the far left side that was white at the top and fades to black on the bottom.
The rest of the screen is okay and have been watching it. Mostly annoying with 3D as the bright white is distracting. LG service has been good, they sent out a local repair tech to look at it and see if it was fixable. It wasn't so they have sent message to store of purchase to have it replaced.
These things happen so I am not overly upset, as long as it is replaced,lol. Other than that "flaw" it's an amazing display.
