I've been sticking with the medium, I think. Been going back and forth so many times I forget.

Anyone have their settings lost? Came home tonight from work to find APS on and the contrast and color turned all the way up on the standard mode I've been using. Just like if some one hit "reset". Weird.

Mine is on medium but I watch in an almost dark room. So far I've run the LG picture adjustment tool 3 times. I'm somewhere arounf 300 hours now and I do notice subtle changes (for the better).

If you purchase one of the dual WAN routers, you wont have any trouble setting it up. Firewall is "deny" by default and you just add your exceptions as needed. I replaced the one at work yesterday with a Peplink 210. Different class of router, in the $1400.00 range. Very sweet :-)

There was nothing wrong with the RV082 except it cant handle what I need a router to do with our upgraded infrastructure. We are implimenting a SAP like system and I've got a little under 60k of Dell servers coming, 4 of them (woot).

Speaking of trades, my oldest is in his first year as apprentice electrician. We have a shortage of skilled tradespeople here in Canada. Once he gets that certification I expect he will earn more than I do, but more importantly he enjoys the work (as do I). My first machine was an 8088 and the first machine I built was a 286 lol.

We have been in bed at 0300 and heard the tv on and thought that one of the kids were up, which they weren't. We knew that the power had been off as all our clock radios were flashing.
Anyone else had this happen with this tv?

noluck, I have noticed this exact same issue. The TV turns itself 'On' instead of "Standby" after power is restored. Definitely an annoyance and I hope it's resolved in future firmware.

I had a blackout at my house few days ago and just asked the wife about it. She saw the tv on and turned it off before leaving. I can suggest maybe setting the tv on sleep if it is a common occurrence or even just switching off the power bar everynight. The latter might be of an annoyance for some including myself.

As for gamma setting, I set it on medium. During day time viewing I have exact same settings from my earlier post but with brightness on 55-60 on expert 2 settings for ease of switching back to low light/night settings.

My set, along with the 709 reveiver, BR, cable box etc is plugged in to a 2000va UPS. The idea is not to ensure runtime during a power outage, but to stop resets as I get frequent 3 or 4 second power outages here. Just long enough to to reset clocks etc. I also like the surge protection offered by the UPS.

I know this does not address the root problem of the set turning itself back on, but it may be a soloution for some of you.

HI Guys
I bought this TV around 2 weeks ago. Everything else is fine with the TV except for 3D. Last night i watched an animated 3D movie and after watching it i was very disappointed because the 3D was no way near to what we see in the cinemas. I dont know whether it is 3D setting issue or something else. Please help if someone knows about it.

3d in the cinemas are passive 3d. This particular plasma uses active 3d glasses. I'm currently using samsung active 3d glasses on my set and 3d works really great!
The LG part number is AG-S350. These are ACTIVE 3D glasses for LG 2012 Plasma sets. I have 2 pair and they were approx. $75.00 each.
Yes that is correct this plasma uses Active 3D which should be better than Passive and that is why i was wondering why it is not that good.
Hmm. When purchasing the TV I recall the salesman saying something about lg 3d glasses having something wrong with them from factory and they didn't sell the lg branded active glasses. He recommended the Samsung ones which come with came in rechargeable and non rechargeable. I opted for the cheaper non rechargeables @ $25 each. I use them from time to time and they work great.

Not to paint too broad a stroke here, but there could have been 50 different reasons he said that. Everything from lack of knowledge to outright lying. It could have been "push Sammy" week, or they were out of stock and wanted to sell you something, etc etc. Again, i dont want to paint them all with the same brush, but a salesman is the LAST person i would believe when it came to any sort of technical discussion.
Yea so true. This salesman was actually some kid working just his second week! He was saying theBure was a recall on lg glasses but didn't bother Googling on the phone. I was busy comparing the different plasmas on display. At one point he was trying to sell me a sammy led set with a $3000+ price tag haha.

Do you have relatively new HDMI cables? Some of the older, cheaper ones dont handle 3D. If they are the 1.4 spec (iirc) then they should be fine. Do you have an AV receiver, and if so, is it 3D capable? If you are connected directly to your SAT/CABLE box then this wouldnt matter. Have you run the 3D optimization program on the TV (its an LG app)?

Those are just a few things off the top of my head.
Thanks PCD I will try these things tonight and will update you tomorrow about the outcome.

This is timely, I have been pricing out 3d glasses, and the cheapest i can find the LG AG-S350 are for $44 each online. They are like $100 locally in the AV store, if they can even get them. So I would be looking at around $450 with taxes to get four sets for the family, that would be approroximately 40% of the price I paid for the tv!. Unacceptable IMO !.

Flipkronikz, you say you are using some samung models and they work fine at only $25, could you please tell me the model number? I was wondering if it was possible to interechange with some other brands. This is perfect, maybe I can experience 3D after all....without breaking the bank.

Oh wow a fellow bc local! I bought them from visions on sale. If you check best buy or futureshop the cost for these is around $25-30 each. Any retailers aforementioned should match or even beat the price of the product so check online and go from there. Oh and part number: SSG4100GB samsung. These bad boys are very light and can even fit over eyes glasses. Batteries are rated to last 150 hours which equates to 70+ 3d movies.

Right on! coincidently I checked Visions webpage this morning and the samsungs were on sale ending today! So I ordered 4 pairs with free shipping, essentially 4 pairs for the price of 3. Now I have to wait for them to arrive via snail mail, hopefully they get here before Christmas.

Is anyone distracted a bit by the TruMotion setting(s)?

When I have it on, I'm amazed at the TV's ability to maintain clean crisp lines of demarcation in fast moving areas, but the lack of any type of motionblur (intentional or not), sort of makes the the picture stiff, or even fake. It's hard to describe. It almost becomes exclusively 2d, as if the moving section is pasted ontop of the background. Also it seems to effect how a scene's depth should appear when both the foreground and background stay in focus so often.

It's only in rare situations for the most part its a decent feature. For sports it cleans everything up nicely.

I find TruMotion to be intrusive in most situations because it makes everything look as if it was recorded on video at 60fp/s which is good if you don't want any blurring but completely ruins the look of anything film based material and introduces motion artifacts of its own.
If you run some motion-test videos on your TV will see the dramatic effect it has in reducing the appearance of blurring but TruMotion starts to trip over itself when there is a lot of high frequency material behind the moving object.

I use it a lot for fast action sports like motor racing, football etc but never for general TV or Blu-ray viewing. I hate blurring because I find it distracting and hard on my eyes but it is preferable in most cases to the artificial look TruMotion introduces. I was watching an Iron Man contest the other day and there was one section where the competitors were riding their bikes past a stationary camera, they were just a messy blur until I activated TruMotion when suddenly they became crystal clear with no blur at all.

It is a useful feature but definitely not for everything.

Phew, thank god because I thought my eyes or brain might have been going. I knew something was amiss but only occasionally could I pick up on it.

I may fiddle with it a bit by lowering its setting. My particular viewing habits and choices must not be effected by it as much, probably because I am watching sports for the most part. Or highdef documentaries. I notice it when watching a movie which isn't too often. So for me it seems to be an advantage more than a distraction.

Thanks for the confirmation. Not every wizbang technology is an improvement in certain situations.

Hi guys

Further to my previous post regarding 3D quality of this TV. I have watched few 3D movies and after tweaking few things, 3D Quality is really gr8 except that images are not popping out as we see in the cinema or theme parks. Can someone please advise what could be the optimal settings for 3D movies popping out effects?

I have one question. When I hook my xbox 360 up to this tv (it's an old 360 with NO hdmi cord or port, so I'm connecting it to the tv via the component hd av cables) there is a fairly large lag between the controllers action and the reaction on the screen. It is extremely annoying. I did some research and I read that it could be an unfixable problem caused by the tv itself. Has anyone else had this problem and can fix it, or has any suggestions to fix it? Is it the screen resolution or perhaps the viewing mode the tv is in? Thanks.
My answer may not pertain EXACTLY to your situation, but both my sons bring thier Xbox's with them when they visit. They both use HDMI cables as I have one hooked to the 709 laying there for just that purpose. The HDMI cable is in the "game" HDMI port in the receiver. We never change the mode from expert 1 where my primary settings are. The games we play are racing, 1st person shooters, and sports.

We dont notice much, if any input lag. There are some folks on this board that really focus on this and maybe they could notice, but we dont. Move the controller stick and the car reacts instantly (or very very quickly) onscreen.

So maybe the lag could be caused by the older Xbox itself? Possibly the component hookup?

Hi guys/gals(?),

Time for a new surround, or at least doing my research. I like the theater in a box set ups. They're in my price range for upgrading to a blu-ray player, and I like they how take up less room.

How important do you think it is to buy an LG brand T.I.A.B? Is the SMART compatibility all that crucial? I like installation to go smoothly and staying brand specific always helps that, but I'm no slouch so integrating a different company into the mix isn't a problem either.

The problem is, other than going to some obscure online retailers there's only about 2 choices locally for an LG theater in a box. One thing I'm not thrilled about is having limited choices.

In fact it's down to a single choice: http://www.paulstv.com/Home-Theater-Systems/LG-BH9220BW.asp

Anyone have any experience with this or similar units?

PS: Wooohooo hockey is back......

The all in one packages are usually a compromise. You may get a half decent receiver and really poor speakers for example. Many people start with one of these setups then move on to individual components, its pretty common. Then you start buying better components ;-). I myself did the same thing even though I knew better..started with a HTIAB, then an Onkyo 609, now a 709 with rather nice 5.1 speakers (tower fronts) and sub etc.

I dont think the brand of BD player will make a difference. My Sammy BD player worked fine with the LG and the only reason I bought a mid-range LG BD player was to get the 3D capability (plus it was onsale for 99 from 169).

Just be aware you may quickly outgrow the all in one box system and once you start upgrading, then what do you do with it? Used market not very good for the inexpensive systems...i ended up just giving my Samsung HTIAB system to one of my kids as he had no system at all.

I've actually morphed from much older surround receivers to TIABs. LOL. I have an old Yamaha Natural Sound and Sony Receiver collecting dust. They'll do the job, but don't have any new encryption coding.

It is a good point though that at $599.00 for the system I linked to, I'm part way there to separate components. Although I do prefer the compact design of TIAB, eliminating the player or receiver (depending on how you look at it/them).

So there's really no advantage to the "Smart Link"? Which was why I was ruling out other companies.

Maybe I'll look at a receiver and speakers. Something nice but not too high end. I could probably budget a few more hundred up to $1000.00 if I wait a few more paychecks.

I've owned my 60PM6700 for 8 months now, and have been completely happy with the television; until recently. For the past two months, when I turn the TV off, 9 out of 10 times the thing drops the network connection. When the TV is turned back on, the network connection is gone, so you have to go through the entire process of setting up a network connection all over again. It doesn't even remember the network or the password, so you have to log in every time. I've read a lot of reviews on LG BluRay players having the same problem. It's definitely not a problem with my home network. I have an Asus Dark Night N900 router which gives me 100% strength everywhere in my home, and even in my neighbors' yards I get nearly perfect signal strength. None of my other smart devices ever lose the wifi connection. Anyone else having this problem with this television or any other LG media devices? If so, have you found out what the problem is?
So, there is a new firmware update (04.10.03) that shows up on my TV, but the LG website has no details on it. Anyone got any ideas what it does. I could find nothing with all kinds of Google searching.

Are you serious!....Yes, the stuttering playback will be fixed!
I saw this firmware update pop-up on the tv, and I wondered if anyone had dared download it. This is great now I have to give this a go, and see how it works. So far that was the only flaw I had in this tv, can't wait to see if its finally fixed.
Thanks for the update on the "update" Flipkronikz
