Same here, received it a few days ago, should have heard the warning bells when the box was taped up and not in the usual hard plastic zip ties thing. I think they sent me an open box item or return as new. mad.gif

I got this set several months ago and am overall quite satisfied. I do have an issue with the 3D that I have not seen mentioned yet here and also have yet to find anything in my internet searches covering it (though not knowing what the issue is called, the correct search terms are anyone's guess).

the issue is as follows:

when watching 3D content, the display appears as if it is constantly adjusting much like the way a cameraman that can't decide what to focus on. the "double-image" will come together and spread apart at seemingly random intervals and durations.

this is not an issue with eye-strain, nor does it have anything to do with the glasses that I can tell-- you can see the set doing it without wearing the glasses where on the left and right edges of the screen, you can see vertical black bars going narrow and wide.

I haven't been able to tell if it is dependent on the amount of "action" showing on screen, or if it is completely random.

This issue occurs with seemingly any type of 3D I try to watch:
3D bluray discs (PS3 through HDMI to Onkyo [TX-NR616] receiver to TV), 2D to 3D conversion any source), side-by-side 3D (mostly from images and video played from PC via HDMI cables), content from the built-in "3D World"

I'm pretty sure the HDMI cables are the newest version and quite capable of 3D content.

has anybody else had this issue? this surly isn't normal.

I'm a 60PM6700 based in New Zealand, we're still stuck on the 04.04.03 and I'd like to mess with mirror cast which apparently works on the newer 05 firmware.
Has any one successfully installed the US firmware outside the US? I'd thought I should ask before jumping head first into trying it.

Have you tried installing the US firmware?

anyone have any idea what the last two FW updates brought? something related to streaming local media?

Anyone experiencing a kind of horizontal blind effect at certain moments when the picture changes radically? I've only begun to notice it after the last FW update, although it could have existed before that.

The TV does really well in this area when it comes to the normal bleeds and other delays associated more with LCD/LED TVs. But at certain moments I'll get a horizontal set of lines for a split second. Sometimes contained with in the borders of a certain area, usually determined by movement not necessarily color. It's not completely screen wide. I can't screencap it either, upon replaying and advancing the picture frame by frame it doesn't appear. It happens most of on "Nothing but Trailers".

I never noticed it before until the last FW update. Could it be a setting? My Sat Feed (Direct TV)?

Thanks for any thoughts on the matter.

Got a used 50PM6700 recently and noticed a strange effect. It seems to retain contrasting images from previous images. It doesn't seem to be a physical type of IR though, as the image retained doesn't matter if it was present for 3 seconds or 2 minutes.

For example if I use any menu functions, they are composed of grey boxes. If I then flip to a black screen, the faint border of the grey box can be seen. Higher contrast blu-ray menu text will retain also.

In case anyone is assuming, the TV is definitely not running in 'torch' mode. I calibrate in a dark room and I tend to prefer dimmer white than most people. Even on the built-in Picture Wizard I'm nowhere near white clipping.

Software version is 5.00.08

Previously noticed the same effect on LG PK550, but chalked that up to the PK550 being brand new, whereas the PM6700 has >3000 hours. I have some other plasma TV's (Panasonic, Samsung) that never show this effect.

Is this something that can be affected by the MLL tweak?

Seems to be a newer software version (5.03.03) available.

Any word on what it fixes (or breaks :-) )

Update: Can't seem to get a proper download of 5.03.03 from LG site, each one seems to be corrupt/incomplete (?)

I have to admit, while the normal viewing of this TV seems great, I'm very disappointed with the 3D. I purchased the glasses specifically for this TV, turned on any post-processing through my receiver, and while it "works" it just doesn't look good. I can't put my finger on it; perhaps it's the nature of Active 3D, but I certainly don't like it much. Watching Avatar is more of a chore than it is a "cool 3D experience".

Anybody able to get a clean download of this 5.03.03 firmware? Every time I try to download it, the result is truncated/corrupt.

The embedded file is dated Dec 16 and is called GP4_ATSC_BB_MP_PDP_mtk5369_A1_RevNo84710_V05.03.03_usb_V2_SECURED.epk

Chad B,

Thanks for the review and I know this is an old topic, but is it possible for you to show all the video settings used after the calibration ?

Or anyone that have calibrated ,including this advanced color calibration can post your own settings?

Thanks in advance.

I also had problems trying to download by the System Update menu. LG finally posted the firmware update on the web, so I was able to do a download and USB update.
