Hi can I play my PS3 at 30hertz only?

Hi there, I joined this forum hoping someone can help me out please.

I am wondering how to play my PS3 on a LCD panel that will have 30hertz cap only. I am not interested in 50hz, 60, or anything beyond.

I need this 30hertz display in order to play 30fps games much smoother. I have done a lot of testing, and know that 30hertz is much better for 30fps games.

I currently have 60hz TV, and it displays 60fps games flawlessly!

I tried to google what tvs support 30hz but couldnt find nothing at all...

Guys please help me out. What do I need? TV, monitor, cables in order for me to enjoy gaming experience at 30hz playing 30fps games, on my ps3.

the PS3 outputs 60Hz only for games, though it can do 1080p 24Hz for BD movies only.

Thanks for the reply.

So are you saying that PS3 is capped at 60hz only? Because I think it can be played at 120hz and I even got to play at 50.

There is so little research to how to display 30 hertz on ps3...

120Hz is probably for 3D output only and since I have no 3D TVs, that option isn't even shown on my PS3. 50Hz would be for use in Europe, mine is a U.S. model.

So if I were to ask you, "Is there a tv out there that is capable of outputting in 30hz, would you know any brands?" or LCD monitors doesn't matter.

Because as I look around I think 60hz and 120, 240 are like the standards...

it would not output 30Hz but it could accept a 30Hz input signal... take my LG 42LK450 for example:

Thanks alot plasma for those specs.

You know this is interesting, because the more I read about what Im actually looking for, I am coming to a conclusion that the problem that I am having is know as 2:3 pull down...

Something about frames doubling causing judder, that I have noticed with my 30fps game on my 60hz.

Ill go read more about 240 hz since it seems like to fix the problem

30Hz goes evenly into 60Hz, so it would 2:2 pulldown and that wouldn't introduce 2:3 pulldown judder (2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 even cadence)

2:3 pulldown judder is for going from 24Hz to 60Hz (2, 3, 2, 3, 2, 3 uneven cadence)

technically the PS3 can output a wide range of video resolutions and refresh rates as the video output is programmable. The PS3 outputs the following display formats only for region 1


HDMI
1080p 24/60
1080i
720p
480p

Component and D-terminal (this be a Japanaese deal)

1080p
1080i
720p
480p
480i

Composite/S-video
480/i

AV Multi SCART
480p/i

For Pal change 480p/i to 576p/i

3d output

the PS3 cannot output 120hz so lets get that right out of the way

your choices are

1080p at 24fps (for 3d blu-rays)
720p at 60fps for games

Probably a good spot to ask but I was thinking of getting the 70LE632U Sharp TV. At the store they told me that it wouldn't be good in gaming because of the refresh rate. That didn't make sense to me because 120 hz refresh rate is way more than what a xbox 360 can put out. Can you clarify this for me as I know at stores they try to sell you newer tech all the time. Will their be jitters in the TV for gaming? Also, why are there jitters on the TV for actual TV? I thought the human eye can't tell after 60 FPS so why do we still see jitters and frame skips/jarrings?

Can you clarify some things for me please, what do you mean PS3 can not out 120hz? Regardless of that, if I have a 120hz TV it should refresh at 120hz no?

Im talking about TV. Or, does somehow ps3 influences TV and locks it at 60hz?

PS3 is not programmed to output 120hz nor can most (if any) recent or current TVs accept a 120hz input signal. the 120hz is referring to the TV's picture processing ability for things like true motion or crystal clear or whatever the manufacturer is calling their frame insertion technology used for smoothing the playback on the TV....

The max a PS3 will output is 1080p at 60fps..... Same for the 360

BTW Power DVD and other media software can do the same thing in software with media files and they play back butter smooth on my 60hz LCD laptop....I guess that i5 comes in handy after all
