Darbee vision darblet - Page 183

No way to use it with an antenna direct to the TV, must be an HDMI connection. Connecting the antenna to a Dishnetwork receiver for instance however does allow for using a Darbee with OTA. I do that now.

Tried Darblet yday hooked up to eGreat media player and projector to watch mkvs. The difference is noticeable and I kept it at 80% Hid Def. for sure this needs to be dialed down for grainy films.

Added the Darblet to my harmony one remote which allows me to ditch the supplied credit card remote.

Will try it on some blurays tonight!! 😜

This Darblet was incredible on Blade Runner bluray, which has some of the most incredible lighting sets ever made. The device just brings out solo much detail given the complexity of textures in this movie... You have to try this reference quality disc!!!

Thanks for the heads up..so far ..so good...still have to play around to get to common ground with both me and the wife..FWIW running the DD Directly into the TV =Panny VT3065...oppo 95...denon avr cs 2311..all components ,other than the DD,running thru HDMI in Denon...Can't wait until I have more time to give this horse some hard riding...PQ on VT30 on Directvis stunning without DD...I can see some enhancements at this point in HD and BD...have not tried 3d yet...and of course, way to early to draw conclusions...but I am not,at this point disappointed...

Relax, just giving you a hard time. It's all in good fun. I honestly had to read your post several times to figure it out though. I still don't understand half of the acronyms but I get the overall point.

No harm no foul...I will be more careful with my abbreviations in future posts..

Not true. Didn't understand the first line there either. I did understand enough to see you liked what you saw so far. I ignored the rest.......
Okay..I understand ,...

I am running the Darbee directly to the TV which is a 65" VT30 (Panasonic)have an Oppo BD95 blu ray player..Using Directv as my video source ...all components are HDMI connected to a Denon CS2311 audio receiver..have a harmony 1100 remote control...
All is perfect...so far!
hope the above is clearer.

LOL - you like the results, that's what is most important....

www.curtpalme.com for the current Lumagen and Darbee Combo pricings for those who have been sitting on the fence waiting for a deal! The top of the Line Lumagen for a few hundred more than the Mini, and a Darbee thrown in as an enticer! (Plus More Inputs!)

First of my neighbors here to watch Superbowl opening, with mouth literally wide open at the PQ using the Darbee on my 55" LG and Dishnetwork. He keeps turning it on and off in disbelief. He's on my computer ordering one. (with permission from his wife...)

Back to the Darblet, any suggested material for testing out the device.

I am lining up blurays of avatar, Madagascar 4 and Prometheus.

I think it will excel on darkly lit movies where local contrast is important for bringing out details like Prometheus.

For avatar I am looking forward to checking out the shrubbery lol and the dark forest scene with the hunting dogs...

.

This restoration is amazing even without the Darblet, and even more amazing with:

I found LOTR,especially Return of the King pretty awesome.

Are people putting their Darbee upstream or downstream from their Lumagen units?

I get no signal if I place it upstream, and great results if I place it downstream, of my Radiance.
I put mine after the Lumagen: More for convenience and lack of space where my main AV equipment is, however for 2.35:1 lens use there is another good reason to do this:

The vertical stretch comes before the Darbee in my configuration, so the Darbee can act on 1920 x 1080 pixels (even though some of them are upscaled).

If I put the Darbee before the Lumagen then it only has 1920 x 817 pixels to act on, plus this result then gets upscaled by the Lumagen, so 'stretching' the Darbee's effect over a larger area than in my configuration.

It's a pretty subtle difference, but since it was easier for me to put the Darbee below my projector (which means after the Lumagen) then that it seems to work better this way is a happy coincidence.

I have Uverse TV, and a Panasonic 65" Plasma... (VT50).

Will the Darbee make my HD TV from Uverse look better? Currently I have the Uverse receiver set to 1080i. (My choices are 720p and 1080i.

Does the Darbee output upscaled 1080p to the TV?
Btw.... my AV Receiver that everything is fed through, is a Yamaha RX-V867, which does NOT appear to upscale 720p or 1080i to 1080p, based on the instruction manual.
I'm waiting to receive the Darbee and I would have prepared my universal remote Philips Pronto to control the Darbee.

Does anyone have the Pronto IR codes for the Darbee?

Thanks.

FYI...the Darbee isn't an upscaler, it's an enhancer. Whatever signal resolution goes into it is what comes out of it.

For what it's worth, I notice a difference (for the better) on my 50" Pioneer Kuro with HD Cable via Comcast.

Thanks.

I bought my receiver because one of the selling features was that it upscaled to 1080p.... then after I get it, I found out that it doesn't touch 1080i or 720p. :-(

Is the Darbee worth getting if I can't send my TV anything better than 720p or 1080i? Is the Darbee best used with 1080p content?
Well, after playing around with the Darbee for a week.....I found that while I truly like what the device does...I am sending it back to Amazon...3 factory re-sets in week is a bit to much for the price I paid...If,in the future,Darbee offers a unit that performs well,I will consider it...Until then,i have to return it.....I think this is inherent to the unit...unless Darbee offers another unit that fixes this issue that i am unaware of,i feel i have no other choice.
