I think the correct way to put this is that you are unlucky, not that the majority are lucky. Again I will add that I think your unit is defective.

I think what nikolausp is getting at is this:

For example: I have all video sources running through my receiver, with a single output from the receiver. I don't have a Darbee, but if I did, it would go between the receiver and the TV.

For any content with a resolution lower than 1080p, I can have the receiver upscale (and de-interlace, if necessary) it to 1080p before it goes to the TV, or I can have the receiver leave the signal as-is, and let the TV do the up conversion.

So, if I had a Darbee, would the end result be better, if these signals were up converted before they reached the Darbee, rather than after?

Nikolausp does not have an upscaling device upstream of his TV, and he is wondering if it would improve the results he gets from his Darbee.
Your improvement will be seen whether you are upconverting or not. You will have to experiment with the darbee settings (once you get one) for different sources; DVD's vs Bluray will be different....blurays (or most HD content) will benefit better with the darbee, and most here will concur on that.

Had mine for 3-4 weeks, indeed interesting device but I'm going to put the money towards a new receiver as I'm on a budget. My RS40 has a pretty awesome image already and I usually have the detail almost off, prefer minimal sharpening, that's just me.

PM me if you wish to buy it. $250+$10 shipping. In box with everything.

Cheers.

Back when I made and sold computers, I had very few issues with what I made and sold. But, one particular woman, she had all kinds of issues. Finally made her a whole new CPU. (No more problems.) Her original, checked out OK at my store, so sold it and never heard back re any problems. But the woman, she told me not to feel guilty. Her last name was Black, and no matter what they bought, they had issues - it just happens to some people!

Just hooked up my unit, this may be a stupid question, how do I get rid of the message at the bottom right that tells me what % I have it set to? I would expect it to go away but it doesn't.

Hey Big.

You can turn off the LOGO in the menu using the Darbee remote.
Thanks, also got a prompt response from Darbee, yes menu, settings is where it is hidden. Just some feedback, 35% on a single chip DLP Planar 8150 works it's magic for me.

Darblet working really well with my LCD projector AE4000 which has a softer image. Watched dark Knight rises and the iMax sections look amazing. I am using HD 80% setting. This film has some nice dark scenes where Darblet really brings out the contrast and detail.

Grainy films like Black Swan look much worse and best to remove the Darblet for those types of movies.

Hello,
What is the latest firmware for Darblet supposed to have the correction for the
Lumagen color space?

Thanks

Watched Bourne Legacy on HD 80% and the Missy's complained about Rachel Weiss' bad skin. I had to dial it down to 50% which gives a much more natural and subtle enhancement! He he ...

I've seen this as well when set too high, but I'm not sure it is the 'truth' as I think it's exaggerating the skin's defects. However, when I first got my Darbee I watched a HD recording of an Amy Winehouse concert and it really didn't help her complexion at all.

I'll take Rachel...Bad skin and all!!smile.gif
BTW...replacing my apparently defective Darbee....new one arrives tomorrow...here's hoping..wink.gif

Noob question on best install; I should be getting my darbee device within the next few weeks, I currently own a Sammy HL61750 DLP; currently have running DirectTV, 3DC-1000 (3D purposes) and PS3 and xbox 360 hooked up to the Onkyo HTS device. I want to use the Darbee with all devices if possible; so where would be the best place to put darbee, in this case? Thanks!

Darbee recommend that you place it as the last part of your chain, i.e. between your Onkyo output and Sammpy DLP. From a practical point of view, you also get to consolidate all your devices via your Onkyo for simplicity...
Does Darbee recommend that the unit should be situated closer in the chain to the pre-amp/switcher HDMI Out or to the display device HDMI In? My apologies as I know this has been answered before on the thread, but was unable to locate. Thanks in advance if anyone can answer for me.

You just need to check the prior post - hook up Darbee in the last part of your chain just before your display device.

Yes, I saw that post earlier, ggsantafe, and thanks for the response. But the recommendation here is only that the unit should sit between the switcher and the display, not whether it should be closer to one or the other. I seem to remember reading an earlier post by a Darbee employee saying that the unit should be a shorter cable distance from the pre-amp, not a shorter cable distance from the display. Anyway, this may be splitting hairs but I would like to follow the recommended set-up.

FWIW, I've had the Darbee both ways (Receiver > 3ft HDMI > Darbee > 15ft HDMI > Display and Receiver > 15ft HDMI > Darbee > 3ft HDMI > Display) and both have worked just fine. Try one, and if it works, leave it. If not, try the other.
I tried both ways with the longest cable being 60-ft, no difference in image quality even when observed using test patterns.

I think the last posted info on firmware, http://www.avsforum.com/t/1399154/darbee-vision-darblet/4440#post_22530873 not sure if that was the lumagen fix update, but you could ask Darby by email for confirmation.

If you have a Harmony, the codes are in their database.

Did you make sure the battery saver plastic was pulled out. Make sure the battery is in the correct way? Go right up to theDarbee and don't be afraid to push hard on the button, a light push does not always work. The Harmony works 1000% better with the Darbee than the actual Darbee remote. But my Darbee remote does work when I push harder on the buttons. I support the back of the unit with my hand just to be sure it does not crack.

But one other thing, what you describe is not what I found with any of my three Darbee's. Since you are not seeing the Darbee logo there may be something else wrong, it should be there at the time you plug it all in. Are you on the same input the Darbee is connected to?

Thanks Tampa..
I have done all the things you mentioned including the battery compartment check....I should have mentioned that the LOGO shows up on my display when I manually push the buttons on the Darblet, leading me to believe it is the remote rather than the unit....I am in the process of getting a replacement from Darbee vision...BTW,the unit is in the same exact place as the defective one(randomly re starting) and that one had no probs with sending and receiving signals with the remote..
Hopefully it will all work out!

I use my Harmony now most of the time to operate the Darbee. But when I do use the supplied remote I found that I got the best results if I make a concerted effort to use my fingernail to hit dead center on the buttons. Hope this helps.
