Do You Have Carte Blanche in Your Home Theater?
By Scott Wilkinson Posted: Mar 10, 2012

In the latest Ask Home Theater blog post, Darren Benjamin says he has carte blanche from his wife to do whatever he wants in designing the media room. We should all be so lucky!

How about you? Do you have carte blanche to do whatever you want in your home theater, subject only to budgetary considerations? If you have no spouse, the answer is obvious. But if you dobe it a legal marriage or domestic partnershiphave they placed limits on what you can do in that room?

Vote to see the results and leave a comment about your choice.
Do You Have Carte Blanche in Your Home Theater?
Yes, because I have no spouse
Yes, my spouse does not limit what I can do in that room
No, I must compromise for the sake of domestic tranquility

That is awesome! I always loved notnyt's setup. It is the pinnacle!
meh.....

Yeah, it's cool, and Not's rig is bad-ass,.... however, I view it as HomeTheater.com should be glad to get a mention here, at AVS

I love the comments, the people asking if it would sound good.. too funny.. Also, they're kind of jerks for just using my picture without any credit, but I don't really care

Image used without permission?!

Thats pretty cool Not!! Though I can't say I have any respect for hometheater.com at all though.

Agreed, they're not too bright. I actually registered (pretty quick and painless) so I could post. We should get some avs rallying going on there because they clearly just don't understand.

I love your comments on the page notnyt... I wonder if he'll respond to you.

That set up is impressive! Any pics of the wife?

~does it sound good?

~it looks over the top

~it probably sounds good

ha! notnyt your room is one of the best looking room's I've ever seen and I remember when I first came upon it and thought - wow! wow! wow! There wasn't so much a overkill sentiment as a holy crap - awesome! thought in my head!
Haha!! Very cool bro!

EDIT: Registered and posted.
Nots room IS overkill, but that IS the goal right?

Congrats on being singled out(unknowingly) and exploited as a mascot for us all......

One question though:

DOES IT SOUND GOOD!?

"Also, they're kind of jerks for just using my picture without any credit..."

yeah, i was trying to figure out where you got the mention...then i realized that there was no mention! then i saw that the azzhat who posted the article further suggests that the system is some kind of joke instead of analyzing its technical merits.

then he makes the freudian slip when he states, "i wasn't trying to say this particular system would sound good..."

he probably has mains with a 6.5" woofer and $60,000 worth of cabling.

I really dont get the point of his article. Obviously you could'nt get away with Nyt's system in a living room. Hell as a bachelor, I wouldnt even do that in my living room. If your wife or significant other wont let you have one room in the house to do whatever you please then you have some serious problems in your relationship.

On a side note, my system is no where near as overkill as Nyts but with the new setup it looks quite mean. I should take a picture of it, I need suggestions on hiding the dts-10s.

Forin

I thought there was only one BA in it though.
There are a few variations on the code. Contra was a single set. Other games such as agressive inline used two sets.

Wow! Crazy over there. I had to explore a little after reading that article and comments. Not much for me.

But NOT out of the numerous times I've talked/posted in a thread of yours I've never noticed your link to the car. Sweet ride man! What is your fastest time and mph? I'm selling my 2010 GTR tuesday so will miss my ten second baby until I mod/build my new sedan.

Which one?

88 rx7 runs mid 10s at just under 130, 93 high 9s at 137. Well, ran. I'll be putting them back together soon. A GTR is too rich for my blood, quite jealous of that
