Update is real light. As usual the MBA program is taking up most of my time.

I finished the columns and stage so I'm about to start calling in a few drywall finishers and see if I can get quotes under $2000 hopefully $1500

We did go tile shopping the past 2 weeks and we are down to the following. Please tell me your thoughts. (This is for outside the theater)

This tile is 6x36




My flash ruins the color the 2nd photo is closer in color. This tile comes in both 6x35 and 9x35 so there would be a pattern to it.





The above tile has a scraped feel to it as pictured below


The rest of these we are losing interest in but thy are all nice

Some good news this morning.

The drywall finish crew (2 guys) are here right now and they are blowing through my little basement. In about 2 hours they are nearly complete with all the tape and first coat. These guys are fast and thus far they are really clean.

They made me laugh because I asked them how long it would take to hang the drywall and his answer was 1 day. I laughed and told him it took me over 2 months. He said his full crew can hang 500 sheets in 1 day and I nearly fell to the floor.

I also have a tile installer coming in about an hour to give me a quote on installation. He comes highly recommended from the store so I'm hopeful his price is right. Some other accomplishments are I applied for and got a $20K limit on a Chase Slate card with 0% balance transfer and 0% for 15 months. Looks like I'll transfer all my debt coming due to this new card and open up the spending again

I've got a nice list of upcoming purchases.
Tile Floor
Carpet
Installation for both
Owens Corning 703
GOM Fabric
All trim
Doors

I think that is my hot list, I have much more after that but those are the big ones

I also plan to do an interesting test.

I want to get a quart of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Flat, Benjamin Moore WB 508 Ceiling Paint, and Rosco Supersaturated Velour Black. I have access to all 3 so it won't cost me much to test all 3 and I would like to see which one is the flattest least reflective black out there.

I plan to use it above the screen to limit reflection. The Regal Select might be the best compromise because it should have the best scrub levels whereas the WB508 should be really flat but I'm not sure about its washability.

I wanted to try Aura as well but the lowest sheen is matte and the TDS tells me it will have a higher sheen than the WB508 and the Regal Select.

When I do the bathroom I will probably do it myself. The area I want to tile is 350 sq ft and the concrete is pretty flat so I could probably do it but it would take a long time. Also the tile is rectified and we would want 1/16 grout lines so precision will be key thus even more time consuming.

I'll have to see what the total costs come out to. If it is something I can stomach I will hire someone otherwise I will make concessions in either the tile or if I do the work.

Right now on the high end I am at $7,500 and the lowest end $2,500 if I do it myself. Realistically if I do it myself I will choose the more expensive tile because they're known to be perfect tile so I wouldn't deal with production issues and that would cost me about $4,500

Is $1.00 per sq. ft a good price for OC703?

Comparing to that site I am saving quite a bit. I just have to pay sales tax and pick up myself.

Cool! I'll probably be priming this weekend if the paint gets delivered to my office. I'll take my measurements for the OC703 as well and place the order with that place for pickup.

My plan is to cover the entire stage area with 2" OC703 (ceiling, back wall, side wall) as well as bass traps in all 4 corners and fabric panels in various places throughout the theater. I'm guessing above and below the proposed chair rail. Sound like a good plan?

Are you doing an AT screen? If yes: How are you attaching the OC703 to the walls and ceiling? Also what are you covering it with?

Word to the wise. Buy your screws in the larger buckets. I don't know how many times I bought 5lbs boxes thinking it was enough.

So I ran into a little bit of bad luck or good luck depending on your perspective.
I was making very good progress on the entire basement. The drywall spackle guys did an incredible job (minus the dust storm they left behind) and I laid a coat of primer on the theater and basement. Painted most of the basement which came out incredible. Ordered the tile for the basement which was put down and looked fantastic

Ordered over 1,000 ft of trim and doors (not theater door yet), and flipped on my sub panel and turned on several outlets. I wanted to prepaint the trim since I had so much of it and wanted to get a paint sprayer for it since I spent all St. Patrick's day painting about 100 ft of trim.

So I decided to research paint sprayers and decided late in the day to go to Lowes to buy a paint sprayer since it had incredible reviews for a home sprayer. Off to Lowes on St. Patricks day with the wife

We were having such a good time talking about theater colors and lighting for the stairway and bar until some jerk was speeding out of control drove us off the road and into a guard rail and then proceeded to flee the scene









Luckily the kid turned himself in 3 hours later

We're lucky because we're alive but unlucky because now we are going to incur thousands of dollars in cost. We had to replace her car with the same car so that cost a few thousand dollars for fees plus her monthly payment went up about 10% since this time we are buying right before summer instead of the fall. I'm afraid to see the medical bills when they start piling in but again luckily we are alive but have some serious pains and headaches. Also I went to a hand specialist and he believes I tore a ligament in my thumb and will need surgery so this wil me on the PUP list for a while. Good news though is that my dad and father in law will be able to help do some work while I am down.

I was right around the corner and ready to pick colors and now this...anyway looks like I am getting delayed again but like I said we are lucky that guard rail was there because otherwise we were going 50mph into a ditch with trees and a house at the bottom

Good call on the kid...no insurance but he was driving his dads car so I really don't know how this all works but I'm not expecting much help
I really don't remember the impact; I remember just about to hit the guard rail and then the next thing was the car sliding on the ground coming to a stop...really weird but its like I wasn't in the car for a few seconds???

We chose the 6x35 and 9x35 tile. Very happy with the outcome but have yet to take pictures as we haven't been downstairs much

I called the medical adjuster to see about this and they haven't called me back...it's been about 4 days including today. I certainly hope this is the case for me.

Good news is we got our construction vehicle back as we got another G37 convertible

I hope so, that would be great because it looks like we are racking up some serious bills

I haven't been down there much but just did to check this out. I was barefoot and it is pretty cold. The temperature is 35* outdoors and the basement is fully underground. If I had a bigger budget I would do radiant floor heating.

I've been down there with socks before and while not concentrating on it I didn't notice it being cold. I think I have the thermostat at 66* in the basement.

I just went down with a pair of socks and stood in the same spot. Very slightly cold but nothing that someone would consider a problem

Oh I forgot to mention my father in law was going to start helping out since I can't do anything. Turns out he may have a tear in his quad...it's like a M.A.S.H unit over here lol
