These just came in. Still can't believe I paid only $300 for them. Very curious now how they are going to sound

I literally just got off a quality control call with Samsung Canada. I had my surround system upgraded about 6 months ago because mine would magicly turn the sound up by itself. Someone in my building probably had the same remote codes, I'd come home with tunes blasting and my dogs hiding in the corner scared for they're lives.. Called Samsung up told them the situation and they sent me they're latest model.

Anyways its nice to get quality calls out of the blue like that biggrin.gif

LOL! Sorry man, I have dogs so I can just imagine..lol!

Yea, I hear that the Samsung in Canada is way better than the US. I think this is why they just fired everyone here in the ECR depr though so hopefully it will be better now biggrin.gif

Really? Why's that? Oh! Cause you bought the 65" with the banding. Yours looks just like mine though. See what Samsung will do. Maybe swap it for the 60". The 7500 doesn't come in a 65" so why did you exchange the 7500 for a 65" ES8000 knowing that it has banding..or you didn't know?

i had sold the es7500 to a friend of mine, Didnt realize the banding issues on the 65" until after i bought it, Are you getting your 65" replaced?

Thanks bro., yea, he's trying to tell everyone that he just saw the 8000 at best buy with this new update and it looked the same. He also said everyone should buy the VT50 and also had the nerve to bring up David Ks review on Cnet from last year..lol! Gas all the way Blade
I had to block his posts. That's 2 members who I had to block this month.

So happy that turned out good for you, man. You picked a great time to do it. I like Standard even more than before and am thrilled with Movie improvement too. I'll go check out the F thread.

I was aware of the reset option available further down in the system menu but...i think that does the same thing but for all inputs at once.

I was actually thinking about this at the office today. Well, mainly I was thinking about why a reset was even necessary and this is what I decided... I think Samsung is changing some backend picture settings with these firmware updates. These backend default settings are much more complex than what we have access to in the regular UI. I believe that they do not actually activate these new backend settings unless a full reset is done. Basically these new default backen settings are not put in place until we reset the TV back to default. That also makes sense why our normal settings don't get reset with the firmware update. I think you must perform a full reset before these backend picture adjustments get implemented after the update and that's why we don't see much difference in PQ until that's done.

Na man, Samsung offered to replace or refund and I was going to just upgrade to the 75" 9000 but then he told me that the 9000 has the same panel which I took as a hint to not get it, so I just kept it and try not to think about it. It actually works for me because I don't watch much TV to begin with. How can anyone on this thread..lol! It goes on 24/7..lol

Yea, LMFAO...i'm scarred! ....okay 3d and the new update...all i did was dial back sharpness to 27...picture quality better than before after spinning Tron, Avengers and Avatar... Default backlight is 20 which does produce milder flash light only noticeable sometimes on 2:35:1 but i am extremely pleased and on material filling the screen it is almost gone. Love the Bladerunner FW...honored!!! LOL

Finally got in the LED game 2 plasmas later; thanks for everyone posting their settings/findings with this set. Here's mine on a cantilever mount. How can I access this Bluetooth "sound sharing"?

I wasn't planning on messing with the calibration meter today when I got home from work, but... it got the best of me and I had to open that damn box! The good news is that the ColorMunki meter is exactly the same as the coveted i1Display3, just a little slower. It's plenty fast for me though. It worked right out of the box with the free HFCR software, which doesn't hold your hand through the process. If you're wanting something that tells you exactly what to do and when to do it, look at Chromapure or CalMAN. I actually like the HCFR software though. I learned a lot about what's going on when calibrating these things. I can also tell why people who use these meters don't want to turn on anything that automatically adjusts stuff. When you get it dialed in you don't want anything messing with it. I don't just mean dialed in to the eye either. I'm talking about a computer telling you in numbers that a certain color or setting is exactly right, why would you want anything to change that?

Anyway, I got through the grey scale setup, which is almost spot on right out of the box in Movie mode, and the primary color set up. The only thing left is the secondary colors and fine tuning the primary colors. 4 hours later and I'm still not finished! If you like tinkering with your TV, get a meter! It's crazy what you can do and read with these things! The only thing that is not set by the meter is brightness. You still use a clipping pattern to do that, but everything else is dialed in carefully with meter readings on the computer.

When I finally finish this thing I'll post my settings for anyone that's interested. Should be sometime tomorrow.

Nice! Congrats! Go Into the menu and where it says "devices" I think., you should see sound setting. I'm not near my sets though so maybe someone else can say for sure

Garnoch, if you get a meter we'll rarely see you around here. You'll chime in with new settings, but you won't be around for the normal chit chat. At least not for a few weeks.

Is it sad that I can't wait for the weekend so I can put time into this meter and my TV?

Cool, thanks; I'll see if I can figure it out. I'm hoping to use it with a Sony BT transmitter/receiver and my klipsch SB3

I'm actually curious to know if that works, so please post that once you try it. I heard it only works with Samsung products that have the sound share feature as well, but I didn't know how true that was. It should work though, you would think cause its through Bluetooth

Lol! He would go through a lot of jacks that's for sure smile.gif

I don't think I could do it. I don't have the patience. Especially for 4 hours straight! I'd have no more hair in my head

If anyone is thinking of using the free HCFR software with a meter, this is a great guide to do it:

http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10457

You'll know rather quickly if you can handle this software or not. I love it, but can see how others may want something else. If you need more of a step-by-step process by software, use Chromapure or CalMAN.

I used the HCFR software with the Colormunki meter so far. It's the best deal out there if you're able to use the software and guide without help.

Thanks Garnoch! I figured that since he went this long without one update since owning his set, and then finally opened it to the world for this one special amazing update, that he deserves to have this FW to be named after him so now a year from now, we can say, hey, remember that amazing Update we all got? No, which one? "The Bladrunner!" Oh yea, that was the bomb!
