Separate thread. Unless people embed their settings in their sig like Garnock there's no way to find them. I've written some down (or printed). The only downside to a separate thread is that it could get buried on this TV forum for lack of posts. This thread is always at the top because there are always posts.

I think the person who created the hx950 settings thread keeps a link in his sig. Making it easy for someone looking for the settings thread to go right to it if it does get buried. Garnosh, turbo and others who have shared settings could always try that if you guys decide a separate thread works best.

I believe that they do not actually activate these new backend settings unless a full reset is done. Basically these new default backen settings are not put in place until we reset the TV back to default. That also makes sense why our normal settings don't get reset with the firmware update. I think you must perform a full reset before these backend picture adjustments get implemented after the update and that's why we don't see much difference in PQ until that's done.

Absolutely wrong... there is no evidence and completely unlikely that resetting your picture to your factory makes one shred of difference... I tried it and nothing was different.

From a deployment perspective this would go against the whole point of firmware upgrades in the first place...

I didn't get a "better picture" with the reset, but I absolutely had to tweak my settings and couldn't figure out why. Once tweaked though, they looked just like before the reset.

My vote is against a seperate thread. Why split it up? I really hate having to check 2 threads for the same TV.

As did I and a simple picture setting reset should do the trick. The factory reset is just unnecessary....

Ah, good point. This was the first reset of any kind that I've done. Just to confirm, so you had to tweak as well after the reset, but your reset was just a picture setting reset and not a full reset? I'll try that next time, though I still don't know why settings would have to be tweaked at all because of any kind of reset. Just seems odd to me, though I confirmed it was true.

I vote no seperate thread, as I understand, the reason is for the various PQ settings? Can't folks just do what Garnoch does and link to it from their name.....or just a link to place your calibrations there? Under the name of PQ settings, as if it is someone's name....:-)

Guys the Only reason why people are pushing for another thread here, is becaus there is a member who was banned that keeps making up all different names like J.M H.O, F.F, GT. this is the only reason for this discussion. Its a ridiculous idea. Period!!!

Search "settings", does it narrow things down much? I have just started researching calibration for this display and it would be exactly what I am looking for to have a calibrations thread. Also, this thread is a bit daunting to newbies who have lurkered for long because of the past history of flame wars and insults.

Example #1 like how does this dude with only 13 posts know about all the insults? Come on guys.. We're all very intelligent people here. You'll all see pretty soon all these new names disappear soon. It takes the mods time, but it happens eventually

I'm actually curious to know if that works, so please post that once you try it. I heard it only works with Samsung products that have the sound share feature as well, but I didn't know how true that was. It should work though, you would think cause its through Bluetooth

No go on this plan, it appears only Samsung products that have "Soundshare" will work frown.gif

Anyway, here they are together (sound is awesome, all that it needed is a SPIDF, RCA, or 3.5mm from the TV or player, then the soundbar connects to the sub via BT, here's the link if anyone's interested)

I bargained it down as a package deal with the TV for ~ $3k total, including $90 5yr on the Klipsch; still contemplating a plan for the TV, what's the consensus here on it?

That being said, I'm glad you like your ES - At least I think that's what I got out of that.

I agree man, that's why way back in this thread now, I suggested to do this first then check for any differences and if there's still no difference, then do the full reset. Seriously, there's a lot to gain from this update so why not? Anyone need more proof about this amazing Bladerunner update, just check out the AVforums In the UK. Nuff said..lol

Thanks, not too thrilled about the higher placement (9.5' ceiling, tilted toward seating area), and the fact that I'm going to have to figure out how to get some wires in the wall. Like I said, I can either have one small SPIDF coming down, or one HDMI going up from the player (with the SPIDF going to the player). Hmmm. Also looking into a smaller, vertically-mountable 3DBD player to mount behind the TV ...

I did both just for to see if it made a difference, it didn't. The changes I made to my settings after the update but prior to the full reset were exactly the same.

I felt the same way when I mounted mine on the wall. I wished I put it higher, but then got used to it after a while. Personally, I think it looks good though where yours is

Yeah that's way up there on the wall. You'd better get some neck braces lol.biggrin.gif

mine is very high also. You can see the pipe sometimes. Not high to the ceiling, But a little high on the wall because of where my pipe hangs down

I just want to say a big thank you to all the members support here. Garnoch has turned this thread Into a very friendly fun, comfortable thread by his tireless work. and even made a Dummy guide for all the members and guests here, so that's why its best to keep just one thread. And he couldn't have done it without all you great members here:D

It's actually not too bad when you're sitting back (pic below, sub in corner mostly out of vision), you just always hear it's best to have a direct horizontal view.

Anthony's setup looks a little more ideal, looks like the place to be;) is that a wireless Samsung dock you have there?
