Regarding delivery method; I had not even thought about transporting vertical or horizontal but the hhgreg truck pulled up, first they came to the door, I went out and saw the box vertical with in correct position, they brought it inside like that. The box was in unopened condition. They carried my existing stand and Sony 60" rpLcd down to the gameroom which best buy would not do. The hhg guys did not assemble the panel mount to the back of the 8000 so once they turned it on and ran initial setup they left. I had to mount and secure the glass shelves of the stand and finish the mount....and voila....Avatar was on and my kids walked in and went into shock....before I even tweaked anything!!!!

Galonzo, I took s movie setting from the Ricodome and tweaked to a sweeeEEEeeet picture but...i can't tweak out occasional clouding and flashlighting. He did help me see corrections to my color in standard mode so I put standard back on 50, color space auto and sharp at 25 and have an improved pic. I think you've got my standard settings on the sheet. I cannot use any of the highly calibrated settings posted and enjoy the tv as much as I appreciate the technical efforts....but I haven't liked "correct" calibrated settings since ,1999 so as I say....tongue in cheek....i am the Anti-Calibrator!!! I plugged in calibrations from our thread, twice and flipped back and forth with my neighbor who owns a vt50 and even he says my standard mode was far more engaging and appealing appealing. So I still cruise on standard since the bladerunner update pretty much resolved any flashlight in standard mode and improved blacks overall....whats not to love there? Still shots and darks on rico's movie mode is amazing as I saw using Samara to compare. I have not chosen to tweak out microdimming in standard mode yet so sometimes certain scenes such as in space, the stars will be brighter in movie mode....then I see the flashlight ....

I did that, and it stopped having the issue for about 1-2 weeks. Now it's back, so I hit up online support again today. Below the the excerpt towards the end of our discussion:
So, what do you think I should expect upon this return phone call? Who should I assume is going to call me back? An engineer? A level II customer service rep? Who should I be looking to talk to?
I hope they call back....if not use http://www.samsung.com/us/support/ and include video evidence if possible.

Then call 1-800-726-7864 ask for the highest level person available, request a refund or replacement- process can take a week or more to be finalized.

Thanks, Blade; I was actually trying some different settings, probably as you were typing wink.gif I may need to wait until tonight, if you recall my viewing situation:

That and get some window coverings ordered.

I bought it from Circuit City about five years ago (it cost 500 at the time), I haven't really looked into it recently, if it's still around. Yes, it is very heavy, it says it will support up to 125lbs. took a pic of the box:

Just found the 55" ES8000 on BuyDig for 1699.99 and Amazon just price matched it. Pretty sweet deal, 55" ES8000 for 1700 bucks.

That is an amazing deal. I paid $2300 in December for mine frown.gif

Well, after fiddling and adjusting and fiddling and adjusting and trying lots of different settings, I have finally (yeah, right) decided on the settings I like best on my set.
I have a 557500, with firmware 1047.

Movie mode:10ks latest.
Standard: Garnochs' 1047 "CE Dimming" settings.

I still really like Standard, so leave the set on Garnochs' most of the time.

Thanks to everyone that has spent the time and effort to calibrate, adjust, and post their settings. All your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Scored the 60" ES8000 for $2199 on amazon, After reward points and giftcards came out to $1809.
They sent my order out super savor by mistake and in result it didnt leave the warehouse for 4 days so I got a $100 refund
Bringing my order to 1709.

Sick price. includes galaxy tab 2,

Hoping the evo kit improves video processing, and I want that new smart hub. Tho i wont pay anything north of 300dollars for it.

Amazon is the best, they took care of me when I had to return two different Samsung plasma 2012 models due to the infamous buzzing. I was also disappointing how poor the burn in was when I would watch ESPN.
Even tho I would return both plasmas, They still gave me that 2% reward money back each time which I thought was funny.

I remember when this TV dropped it was close to 3500-4000 dollars about one year ago.

Hi. Does anybody know the key differences between my UE46ES8000 (UK Version) and the UN46ES8000 (apart from local regional differences in Smart Hub) I am refering to Picture settings and other menu settings. Also, what would happen if I installed the US firmware on my UK ES8000?

Cheers.

Off into the sunset he went after careening off our steep curb with the TV laying on a 60 degree angle secured by a single bungee cord in his pickup bed that seemed to have little to no suspension left in it.

Anyhow, I'd hate to have anyone on this forum wind up with that set. It literally will have mileage on it once it ends up where ever it ends up. Hopefully Amazon just sends these back to Samsung, but sheesh, what a waste...

Future Amazon Warehouse deal? lol

I got my upgrade from Samsung (D8000 to an ES8000) last year. I went into details on how here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1399319/official-samsung-unxxes8000-owners-thread/330#post_21817605
Post #344. In that post I also linked to a Samsung exchange/return FAQ that basically gives you an idiot proof guide to getting what you want and knowing what to expect from Samsung. I will say right now that Samsung's warehouse and exchange group is working on filling their warehouse with 2013 models and getting rid of the 2012 models - So they might even be the one to mention an upgrade to you. It's not going to be easy as pie, and it will be a big hassle but if you are persistent enough you'll get what you want. And try not to be a jerk as being nice sometimes goes a long way smile.gif Hope this helps, good luck

Hey guys, I've been following this for a while, not a big poster though. I got a 46" with TS01 panel and 10k's settings work great on my set. Thanks for the hard work you guys did figuring it all out.

Did anyone have any networking problems in the past? I've had the set for a month now and just today I started having an odd problem. Every few minutes or so a message pops up with and error message saying that TV couldn't be connected to a network, even though when I go into the network options in the menu it's saying that it's connected and everything is ok. Also when I try to open any apps in SmartHub that use Internet they will not open and if I try to check for a firmware update it will just search infinitely. I did a factory reset and it didn't help. Resetting my modem and router didn't do anything either.
Do you think it might be Samsung servers that are acting up? Or is something wrong on my end? Like I said that never happened before and I was able to use all the apps and whatnot. I have the lastest 1047 firmware. I might wait a few days to see if it'll go back to normal before contacting Samsung.

Thanks for any input.

Just updated my calibration settings and charts found in my signature. I actually calibrated with LED Motion Plus enabled this time around. I don't really see any difference with it on, but it makes the screen darker so my backlight had to be increased to compensate for it. I also finally got my 10% grayscale reading where it needed to be. Before it was sitting around 6 and now is at 3. Very minimal dE across grays and color readings. I don't think I'll be changing these unless someone has an idea how the heck I can get my 100% blue closer to where it needs to be. Apparently my panel has a weak blue level and it just won't get to where it needs to be, but it's still not bad.

Jestered, your results are awesome, especially the CMS results. Did you measure the saturations using 75% luminance patterns also? I can't seem to get both 100% and 75% in a perfect spot at the same time.....

Thanks 10k! I didn't measure 75% luminance this time around. I'll have to throw the meter back on there and do that. I'm contemplating trying to fix my weak blue in the service menu, but not sure I'm going to do that just yet. I'm 100% happy with how it's turned out and going on that journey may be more than what I want to deal with at the moment. That's the only thing that is slightly off though, so it bugs me (even if I can't actually see it).

Oh boy I am worried, i am getting Pilot to deliver mine and I hear all the horror stories. Does the TV come with the stand attached, or not? I read in the Pilot email that they wont attach the stand for you. Or move it to your entertainment center.

Just got my UN55ES8000 TV yesterday and it was working flawlessly. Today Im getting the Network error_model_mind message. Sometimes it works if i wait 5-10 minutes. Could be Samsung servers, is there a place they post server status?

Also, I did all of my updates yesterday and was wondering if I really do have the latest firmware?

My TV says Under Support > Software Update > Current Version 001047.

However, when I go online to samsung's website it looks like there was a release on 2/26/13 and that version says 1020. Doesn't that appear less than what I have?

I think you're the second person to say that there's problems with the internet connection, so I'm assuming it's Samsung servers that are being flaky today.

The latest firmware for the North American models is 1047. The 1020 version I believe is the version of the firmware for our friends across the pond. Were you on the wrong Samsung site?

Did any of you gents purchase the Samsung Extended Warranty from them? I'm not overly fond of a 12-month warranty so I'm thinking about purchasing an extended policy, but not if the price is outrageous. Any idea on prices? Suggestions?

I tried contacting Samsung about it and was transferred to 3 different people, none of which ever gave me a price. I got frustrated and hung up.

hello Jestered,
Looks very good! About the blue calibration, also 10k and myself have problems as well. RickS also I think.
So this must be something inherent in the Samsung electronics.
What is important is to make sure there are no strong deviations. You have a very low error at 100% saturation, and the error at 75% saturation goes up strongly. I had the same. So what I did is to find a setting which evens out the error at 75% and 100% saturation.

Btw, what source do you use for your patterns? Htpc, bluray or something else?

My 2 year old Pioneer 920K receiver has already died on me so I just upgraded to a Denon AVR-1913. I'm hoping I don't have any HDMI handshaking issues with the Denon and my Samsung TV or Dish Hopper. I don't think I'll ever buy another Pioneer again. I'll probably be happier anyway as the Denon is supposed to have better sound quality compared to Pioneer, Yamaha, Sony, Onkyo and others. I bought from an authorized dealer on Amazon, so I feel pretty good about Denon's 2 year warranty

I have an extra 3 year warranty from Square Trade through Costco website. As Garnoch's told us earlier in this thread, you do not have to a member of Costco. It is a hundred dollars. And it starts after the Samsung 1 year warranty runs out. If you look up Garnoch's posts, he has more info. Hope this helps.

Thank you Jestered, I was using the international link. However, when I go to USA Link here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/UN55ES8000FXZA

The latest version shows 1046.2 which is still not the 1047?

As far as warranties, Samsung will probably be VERY Expensive. The best place to get an extended warranty is through costco.com . You DON'T need to buy the T.V. there to get the warranty. The warranty must be purchased within 60 Days of the T.V. If you're not a Costco member (Which I'm not), you just pay a 10% upcharge which at most is 10$ more. The warranty is through Square Trade. I bought my T.V. through Amazon and their SquareTrade warranty is 200$ whereas Costco's squaretrade warranty is only 100$ (plus 10$ upcharge for non members) = 90$ savings! Here's the link:

For those asking about extended warranties - don't get the one form Samsung - it is extremely expensive. Get the squaretrade warranty - you can buy it from Amazon, or if you have a local Costco - you can buy it there. In fact, you can even buy it off Costco's site - you don't even need to be a member. And you don't need to buy the tv from them either. Several of us did that earlier last year when we bought our sets. It was $99 for 3 years of coverage, starting after the manufacturer's warranty ends, if I remember. Not quite as good as the Best Buy waranty, but hundreds of dollars cheaper and some peace of mind.

Awesome Post...I went from a D6900 to a ES7100, also had the 3 repairs...

I was offered the refund from ECR and later the exchange/upgrade...

The online video evidence and receipt upload was key.
