Firmware upgrade fixed the restarting issue but the wifi connection on this TV it terrible. It connects but can't seem to stay connected. I have to keep a hard line connected to it with a bridged wireless router to the main router.
It's likely a router issue, not a TV issue. Is your router Dual-Band? If so, change the names of the bands to different names and try and reconnect the TV to the 2.4 band.
Also, ensure WMM is enabled.

It's not dual band, only 2.4GHz. For reference, I'm using a Buffalo WZR-HP-GH300NH with DD-WRT firmware. From what I've read, WMM is a 802.11n standard so it should be enabled by default (and not user selectable). If it is, I don't have the option to turn it on/off on my router.
Nope. I've been using Nitra's settings since day 1, hour 1. Very little clouding & flashlight effects... Only visible in a dark room with a dark picture.

Just got my 65ES8000 delivered today. To my immense disappointment, i have discovered two dead sub pixels: http://db.tt/S0R1ZNnh
Did you use a pizel program to detect those? I ran disney wow pixel detection on mine. No dead pixels on my second set. My first had a stuck green pixel. Stuck pixels can fix themselves but dead black pixels are a done deal. I would exchange it.
Guys I finally got around to playing with the 3D mode today on my ES7500 and I noticed something weird happening with the auto-detection. When I select the 3D sports channel on my FiOS box, the tv automatically detects the signal, but here's the issue: it pops up a warning box that it is about to go into 3D mode, then it gives a 3D caution notice, then at the bottom of the box it gives me 2 options - "ok" and "never show this message again". But the entire time the message seems frozen - I cannot select either box, so I have to just wait like 30 seconds for the tv to switch to 3D mode. Then, next time I go to the channel again, the same thing happens every time - the warning box pops up but I can't select either ok or never show again, so I have to wait again until it goes away.
I also tried turning auto-detection off under 3D settings, and the same thing happens anyways - I go to the 3D channel, and the box comes up anyways, saying it's about to go into 3D mode, again not letting me select either option. The only difference is when auto-detection is off, the tv stays in 2D mode after the box disappears. When auto-detection is turned on, it switches to 3D after the box disappears. When it's turned off, it remains in 2D mode after the box disappears.
Has this happened to anybody else? I already called Samsung about this earlier today and they have not heard of this before, and said that isn't how it should be acting. I should be able to select the option never show message again, and from then on it should automatically go straight to 3D mode without the message box appearing. But I can't select that option. And the rep said that if I turn off auto-detection it shouldn't do anything when I go to a 3D channel, but it does. I'd like to know if others have this issue.
I also tried some 3D blu-ray discs, and that does not happen with blu-ray discs - I put in Hugo, and it started playing in 3D and the tv automatically switched to 3D mode without the annoying pop-up box in the center of the screen - just a little notice in the bottom-left corner saying I'm viewing in 3D mode. So whatever is going on with that message it seems to only pop up when I'm watching 3D broadcasts.
Nobody has tried watching 3D with a cable 3D channel? I'd really like to know if there is some solution to this. My tv can't be the only one that has this issue.
I think there is something going on with the firmware that is NOT right......
I was watching some TV last night. And noticed 100% ZERO clouding issues during certain parts of my TV watching.
I was watching some credits on a TV show that was 100% black and had just white text in the middle, The Blacks were AMAZING, like the TV was off and just the while pixels were on.
I switched the source to my PC and fired up a movie and BAAM clouding.
Back to the original source Zero clouding.
Backlighting is the same on both sources.............
I need to spend more time looking at this..........

How can you tell if its stuck vs dead? I'm running test patterns from avs and they just wont turn on at all.
In any case, i called samsung and theyre sending someone out to look at it next week.
Should i have called amazon instead? At this point, I just want a new one.

Stuck is typically emitting a color (red, green, blue) Dead is nothing, its a black hole, no color.
Samsung will repair your brand new tv essentially turning it into a refurbished unit.
Amazon will give you a brand new one..........
I have been down this path, I called Samsung, they sent someone out ordered a new board and wanted to take the tv apart.
I called Amazon and within 3 days I had a brand new perfect tv........

I haven't had a problem not getting mine to go into 3D mode. As a matter of fact, the problem with mine is that it ALWAYS wants to go into 3D mode ! I'll switch sources on my Pioneer receiver every once in awhile and it will auto switch into 3D mode, even though it's not 3D programming. This seems to happen with my Dish Network receiver more than anythiing and I don't have any 3D channels on Dish Network! Pretty sure they need to work the kinks out on their 3D detection. It doesn't happen a lot...but enough that it's noticable

Thanks for the tip. Amazon arranged for a swap this Tuesday; canceled my support ticket with Samsung.
Does Samsung after a while stop updating the firmware on their TV's?
I have the old UN55C8000 and I notice the latest firmware update is over a year old. I'm not complaining, just something I was wondering about.

I noticed the same thing last night. I watch watching some trailers on my apple tv and there was fairly minimal clouding/flashlightning. I then switched to my bluray player and right away saw severe clouding/flashlightning. I run everything through my AV receiver (video is passed through with no processing done), so my TV settings stayed the same. I actually was getting pretty mad and how awful the picture was, and turned it off and left the room. Came back 20-30 minutes later threw in a different movie (John Mayer Live) which is very dark at times and noticed very little clouding and no flashlighting. I then put the original movie in I was watching when I saw the clouding/flashlightning and there was none.
When I first got the TV (last week) the John Mayer bluray was the first one I watched and the clouding/flashlightning was terrible. Firmware is updated to the whatever is current. So if it is firmware related it occured in whatever I had before and what I have now. I really hope that is what it is, because when it was working like it was last night this TV is amazing.

Once new models come out, firmware updates will usually slow considerably. When there are no major unresolved issues, most companies see it fit to focus development on the new models that people are buying.

could be related to a local dimming or global dimming backlight setting (or built-in feature in the firmware) that dims the blacks in dark scenes to hide flashlighting/clouding... it's also possible certain pic modes disable this feature as well as PC mode.
in some cases, even switching between the RGB and YCbCr HDMI color spaces can trigger such features on and off
Wow! Sold my un46c8000 and bought this one. So far I like it. I'll take my time learning everything it does. Best Buy will come out and calibrate it for free. I was concerned at first as the older samsung used special adapter cords for all the inputs. Was pleasantly surprised to see this uses real connections on the TV itself. Is there a video processing bug with these sets?On my 4th replacement and what is happening regardless of input is that occassionally the picture seems to momentarily "jump".On rolling credits you will notice a jerk for a fraction of a second. Its as though the picture stops for a split second and then carries on.The best way I can describe it is if you took a camcorder recording and edited out one frame and then played it back.
The AV forums review in the UK noticed this on their test review set so the issue must be affecting a number of sets.

Sounds like Auto Motion Plus (AMP). Not sure about the ES8000, but on older Samsungs it is recommended to:
1. Set it to Clear
2. Set it to Custom, Smoothing 10, De-judder 0
3. Turn it off
Depends on who you ask. I always turn it off as I see the "jumps" even when set to Clear or Custom on my LN55C750.
Had the 55ES8000 delivered today. What a stunning TV!!! Daytime performance is AMAZING!! I originally purchased a 55GT30 Plasma but ended up returning it due to it not being bright enough during the day (room is full of windows which face the TV). Here are some screen shots of the screen taken with NIkon D5000 on a tripod - please note I left the settings on auto (Flash off) for the quick shots:
Please note, take the uniformity/flashlighting shots with a grain of salt - these panels CANNOT go to full black (LEDs OFF) so longer exposure = flashlighting and uniformity issues more evident - this is NOT how the TV looked to the naked eye. All shots were taken in a completely dark room.
You can see some flashlighting here (due to cameras longer exposure) The backlight was set to 11 which was plenty bright even for daytime. The flashlighting is BARELY noticebale to the naked eye, if you didn't know what to look for, you wouldn't notice.
As you can see below screen does not have any noticeable banding.
With a big white image on the screen, there is absolutely no flashlighting as your eyes adjust to the brightness.
This image was a better test which again, showed no flashlighting whatsoever.
Now this is a longer exposure (around 5-6 sec) which shows hotspots on the screen. Again, to the naked eye these aren't apparent, but its good to know which areas of the screen are slightly brighter.
Here's a much shorter exposure. The halo effect you see around the play button and letters is due to camera overexposure, to the naked eye the text looked very sharp while all the areas remained black. It was impossible to differentiate between the black bars on top and bottom and the end credits black background. This is pretty much how the screen looked to the naked eye.
Amazing color reproduction - the TV has not been calibrated so all settings are at the default "Standard" viewing mode with the Noise/MPEG filters turned off.
I found one dead pixel in the upper left corner. It is impossible to see from 3-4ft on with or without test slides. No biggie.
Overall this LED set is AMAZING. The night/day performance is stunning. The clarity is superb. I've spent 3 months looking for the perfect TV and ALWAYS kept coming back to the Samsung. One negative comment is the AMP performance. I do notice the little "stutter" or "hickups" when an object crosses the screen, but it is very minor compared to what I've seen on the ES8000s at Best Buy and Frys (not sure why??) I played around with the settings and bumping Blur to 10 and Judder to 3-4 gave me the best result, smooth with minimal hickups. Note, with 24p content, the stutter is a non issue so I'm sure it has to do frame rates onair TV and shows broadcast at.
On a scale of 1-10, this is 9.5 - fix the AMP and this TV would be PERFECT. Edited by dmeech10 - 7/14/12 at 1:11am

O.O 4 sets? Christ. Are you aware of all of the limitations of current hardware?
The issue isn't with the set, and it's not likely with AMP either.
To understand why there's a jump, you need to understand what's happening, it's also not a problem, it's an LED/LCD thing, you can even it out with AMP, but you still might see it once in a while.
It's more so an issue with 24p content.
The issue is, not all sources reproduce 24p content as a true 24 FPS, sometimes they are 23.976, but it really varies quite a bit, on a computer source it's much more noticeable, on an NVidia, even more so. Newer ATI's 6500+ nearly don't show the issue at all.
The main issue at heart is the frame interpretation, speaking on 24p content, if the source device isn't providing true 24p, it's common to see a frame jump every few minutes to keep the timing of the source, if it didn't do that, audio would eventually get out of sync.
As I said, it's not just limited to 24p, other content, especially content that's been converted, (interlaced, deinterlaced, up converted to 1080 from 720 etc) if that timing isn't dead on there will be jumps every now and again.
The entire purpose of AMP is to even this out so you don't notice it.
I just purchased a un55es8000 last night and it is horrible. You can see the hotspots with the naked eye. The wife could even tell. It is going back today.

Did you bother trying to set it up?
Generally out of the box, they are blown right out, lower the backlight to 8, turn on the ECO sensor, have it bottom out at 4.
Also, before you do any of that, update the firmware, there's been many adjustments to the set.
I spent several hours going through recommended settings to no avail. Also the LEDs at the bottom of the TV we noticeably brighter that the rest in the set. So much so that it looked like there was a line going across the bottom of the set.
After reading that I think I am going to abandon the edge-lit scene. My current 3 yr old 47lh90 has better PQ (at least to me) than both the ES8000 and a 55LM7600 with none of these issues. Though the lm7600
had less of these uniformity issues than the es8000 i.e. no line across the bottom. And of course the 47lh90 is a full array but I haven't seen very good reviews on the the full array LG and Sony. Sharp is out of my price range.
Correct which is why I am not considering plasma. I am surprised that people can tolerate the issues with Edge-lit, but I may be too critical.
I am hoping that seeing one the of the full array sets will wow me but I am not holding my breath. I may just have to wait for prices to drop on OLED. Thanks for the input though.
Might be better to wait until the 2015 year, but even saying that, OLED's may well not drop that much even given that timeframe.
(They are also not without issues) Blotching, Smearing, blobs etc.
