It worked flawlessly on my Galaxy S2, however, when I updated to the S3, it was no longer in the list. I can see it on the Google Play store from my computer, but can't install it on the S3.

Unfortunately Verizon didn't carry the S2 so my only choice was to get the Nexus which doesn't have the app whatsoever in the Google play store and doesn't have the Samung App store either. I does however have an app called SammyGo remote which works with both the D8000 and ES8000, but it doesn't have all the feature and options the main Samsung remote has. I do own the Galaxy 5.0 media player and that has it all. My favorite feature on that is the Smart View..

It just doesn't make sense that a newer Samsung phone would not have the Samung App store or certain Samsung Apps while the iPhone does

I was able to download and install Samsung SmartView on my Verizon S3 phone.
I have the APK if anyone needs it. (not sure if I can post it)

any android phone can use this, I think as long as you have ICE (Ice Cream Sandwhich)

They do make a special version for tablets that I can try to get, but I don't know the difference, and technically this version should work on tablets as well.......

Install it and try it out....

I own both the D8000 and the ES8000 and the browser is a little better on the ES but still not fast enough where you would use it like using a laptop. Honestly, I only tried it out a couple times. It's still not good enough to where I would use it all the time.

I don't own the D, but yesterday I finally finished reading all 119 pages of this thread, and so you don't have to, I can say it was mentioned a few times that the 3D is improved on the ES over the D, much improved if I remember right.

The thing is, I'm a Mac guy also and I specifically didn't buy the iPhone and bought the Samsung so I can control my TV's from it and I've been stuck with this phone now for almost a year. I figured because it was the 1st to have ICS it would have all the features I needed and then some. Then I went and bought an 3rd gen iPad and still I can't get this stupid remote..

Speaking of apple, I really hope they update the Apple TV also today.

Works flawlessly.

Danke!

I'd like that too but I doubt it. I'm even doubting the iPod and iTunes rumors. They usually hold a separate event for that stuff around October. Who knows. On another note about Apple though, I would love to see them and Samsung iron things out with a mutual deal rather than deal with the $1B. They're both good companies. I won't hold my breath, but having the Apple TV built into a Samsung TV (EVO Kit), would be great for my house.

Okay, so I was wrong about iTunes and iPods not being updated today. smile.gif

I opted for a new replacement set today. Samsung gave me the option so I'm taking it. Let us know how your set looks when you get it.

Yes, 2D to 3D conversion has improved tremendously on this set. Last year I had a 55D8000 and a BD-D6700 Samsung bluray player, and the BD player easily bested the tv in conversion quality

This year the ES8000 has the best 2D-3D conversion I've ever seen, period. I compared it to my and it was no contest. One marked improvement in the 3D experience with the dual core is the option for motion smoothing ( I have mine set to Clear in 3D). It makes a huge difference, especially when converting to 3D you don't get a lot of the judder etc. when the conversion is trying to keep up with fast panning shots

As for the web browser, I agree with Anthony that it's not faster than just using your phone or laptop. But then again, entering and exiting apps is faster, as is loading the Smart Hub, and the overall experience of the web browser is a little faster for sure.

Edit: Also wanted to mention that for some reason, Samsung took the 2D to 3D conversion feature out of their E series bluray players this year in favor of putting web browsers, disc to digital, etc. features in. The good news is this set does it well enough that you need not look elsewhere

FYI, the UN65ES8000 just popped back up on Amazon (sold by Amazon.com, not a third party) with 6 units available. Grabbed one to replace my absolutely lousy Sharp 70c8470, here's hoping for better picture quality.

Ok my set came and so far so good. I still need to play around with it but as far as I can see, there's no issues with the backlight bleeding. I think I saw a little banding but I was really looking for it. I put on golf which I don't ever watch just to see if I can see what this banding looks like. I will get a better idea tonight when it's darker. When I set it up, the movie "collateral" was on my Comcast cable. I just want to say that it looks horrible on this TV. In movie mode and standard mode. I even tried normal just to see and still looked horrible.

That's movie is pretty much all dark though but then I went and looked on my D8000 and it looked way better. Not too happy about that, but it's not a reason to return it. I'm just really pissed still that they left out a couple of the most important options on this series but yet it's on my D8000 series. That's still really bothers me. I looked on the box to find the manufacturer built date, but can't find it. Can someone tell me how to find this?

Edit** I found it on the back of the TV. The build date is August 2012
