The idea of spending X amount of money on a TV is base on a set of features that you put together to justify the investment. On my particular situation one of the features I liked about the TV was the almost edgeless frame :-(.
I wonder if anyone else can confirm what I'm seeing or have notice or read about it.

I think the reason they added I wider black buffer now is to hide flashlight issue. But the outcome of this is that the screen looks smaller because is taking away vieawable area.
If that is the solution they came up with the fine, but they need to tell people about it and advertise the change so you dont end up with something different thatn expected. You can see several UN65ES8000 videos and you will see the original frame was different. Take a look at the CNET video, I know is a 55 inch but it shows what I'm talking about the width fo the buffer with a close up.

I was expecting the smaller bezel when I got mine because I didn't realize the 65" had a slightly different design, but got over it real quick. Would I prefer to have the same bezel as the 60"? Absolutely! I'm not gonna let it bother me though.
From what understand, the 65" bezel has always been that way.

The loss of colors and sharpness/detail happened to me on the last firmware update. I had to "reset" and then wait about 24 to 48 hours before everything settled back to normal. I also had to re-tweak my settings. That was my experience.
Personally - - no more updates for me until I see that they are of value. And it will have to be documented by users & forum members like yourself. I can't be constantly tweaking this picture - - you should be able to and excuse my Ron Popeil quote - - "set it and forget it!"
Right now, the picture is fabulous on my 65" (UN65ES8000). Very, very little banding - - even on golf shots. Older movies like Blade Runner look like they were filmed yesterday. Newer content like 3D Prometheus and 3D Avatar sparkle - - great depth and colors. CNN is back to it's great picture and detail - - right down to the little teeny hairs on Wolf Blitzer's face and Candy Crowley's Craters (sorry Candy.) Boardwalk Empire and Dexter make it seem as if you're part of the picture.

Did you did a Picture reset ONLY or are full TV reset?

You're right about the Samsung firmware "update" notes - - they're worthless. Another member did a great job providing details on Sammy's updates - - they are all very generic with little substance. Not trying to bash Samsung but this is an area (as well as documentation) that they really need to improve on.
Lastly - - for all of you who updated with no problems, whatsoever. I wanna party with you, cowboy, and maybe take a trip to the casino. You're luck is better than mine!

I saw the request to update the FW, and performed that without giving it a second thought. Was that a bad move? Also, had updates for the Apps and Browser, which I did. I haven't had any serious issues I've notice. I really have not tried to get through a Calibration, although, I 'soften' the screen to more of my liking. The one think I see is "lightened" corners where they should be darkness on the image - maybe a little bit of clouding. Would doing the reset improve this?
Any advise is welcome.

In my case, it took a while for the changes to take full effect and I had to re-tweak the settings. Hope this helps.
