Hey gamer,
Ya it's slightly more prominent than that pic but pretty close. The set seems to have improved. I never would have believed it had I not experienced the change myself. I hate the jump the gun, but I'm pretty sure this is a keeper. Strange to think a day ago I was adamant it was going back. On grey sky scenes I can see the banding, but not bothered enough by it to be concerned. I'm looking forward to nitro's calibration settings so I can see what this set can really do. I have to wonder now though, had I turned the backlight down from the first set I bought, the D7000, would I have even tried the D8000 and then the ES8000? I'm thinking I'm a grand out of pocket for something I could have been happy with. But, live and learn. I'm pleased with what I have now, so in the end that's all that matters.

you can thank CNET as I just tweaked settings based on my time with this set and experience using last year's D8000. I also am looking forward to CNET releasing their new calibrations for this set in a couple weeks on their forum
