Unless you have a colorimeter, messing with the 10p white ballance is useless. IMO, Micro-dimming is a marketing hoax. If you want real dimming, you need to go with a Full array local dimmer, period. Just look what Samsung is doing with their "ES9000" for 9K! All it is is a ES8000 with a new feature called "cinema Black" which turns off the top and bottom LED's so you don't see that nasty clouding on letterbox movies, which the 8000 series should have had in the first place. Shame on Samsung trying to rip people off like that.

A perfect example of Samsung contradicting their marketing is how they said with the 8000 they didn't need cinema black because the contrast is so good with micro-dimming. 5 months later they touting their top of the line ES9000 but with Cinema black. Makes you wonder what this "Micro Dimming" stuff is really doing, if anything. In my comparisons to a couple full array local dimmer's I had side by side with the ES8000, the ES8000's "Micro Dimming" Couldn't hold a candle to the full arrays and did not even remotely come close to the depths of black the 2 local dimmers were producing. Although I will say one local dimmer had a awful blooming effect where as the other one was pretty much perfect with blooming non existent.

I would highly recommend turning AMP off completely for gaming. You will just be adding tremendous amounts of controller input lag with those features on. Also turn off LED motion plus. For gaming, you will want the least amount of processing going on to reduce the amount of controller lag. Especially on games like FPS's.

Gotchya.... Ona side note if Samsung wanted to do away with the blooming effects from Cinema black, why would they add it in to their 9,000 dollar top of the line ES9000 model? See what I am saying? They cant say that is the reason. That feature should have made it in the ES8000 and the ES9000 should have just been a larger ES8000 for half the price of the 9000.

I bought the Logitech wireless keyboard with the touchpad from Best Buy. Since I don't really use the browser all that often on the TV, I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so about $30 was plenty, and this fit the bill, literally.

It doesn't have the buttons that simulate the full remote like the Samsung Keyboard does, but it works fine otherwise.

For my exchange (for the D6900) I was offered a ES6600.....I refused.

I asked for a ES8000, both have ultra-clear panels and top features/options.

Samsung called back and offered a ES7100...I took the offer.

I believe I could have held out for/ negoitated the ES8000 but didn't want to wait for weeks....

What you think? They are going to replace your low end 6900 with a top 8000 model? Wishful thinking there. I doubt they would have gave you a 8000. If I were Samsung I would have told you to hit the road on the first deny. They offered you a comparable model, which is fair. People always trying to get stuff free these days. What makes you so special that you think Samsung should give you a 8000 when the rest of the 8000 owners had to pay top dollar for it? You should be happy they even considered replacing it with a new 2012 model to begin with.

Sometimes they do or can offer more if you add some cash to it. I think you made out pretty good though! Thanks for the update.

The Ultra version of Micro Dimming won't come into play in Movie mode and not sure you'd see much of a difference anyway, and the smart tech seems to not get much use.

What size? I can't remember.

The D6900 has almost all the features of the D8000 including Ultra-Clear panel, the QWERTY Remote etc..

If you look at this picture, you will see a circuit board near the bottom of the tv. It is covered by a metal housing. This housing is what you screw the tv stand into.

Anyways, the circuit board has 4 screws that on my set were very very very tight. I loosened all four screws and then snugged them back. I ran my tv for a few hours to make sure it was good and warm.
I watched a movie I saw just the night before that exhibited bad clouding and I couldn't see any clouding. I hope this helps a few that might have bad clouding but don't want to deal with an exchange.


this seems like a hidden gem to the brave few. so was anyone brave enough to try this out and confirm it?
