If you got it bad you'll see it during normal viewing from all sources at all angles. If you can't see it at all during normal viewing then I'd agree with you on the paranoid bit
Thanks,That is what i need to hear
I did the same thing with my Samsung Plasma(worried about the buzzing) for the first few weeks, absolutely love the tv now.
Happy New Year to the es8000 club. My tv did a boatload of heavy lifting last night and delivered a knockout with ondemand MenInBlack3, bluray DarkKnightRises and bluray Imax SpaceStation3d....not too mention the ribeye steaks, yeunglings and shrimps....
I can be there by tonight haha. I prefer their straight up lager but they have the best light lager on the planet. Here's a nice one to try though - half lager light and half black & tan. It pairs well with football on a Samsung ES.
Ha ha....i've got the black n tan and the lite....sonwe are in business!!!! Hey boss, what and why do you the diff between standard and movie. Seems to me I found the best overall day and night by going std, 49-50 color, color space native....great saturation, blacks and almost zero flashlight. Unless on superdark contrasty material, this seems to be killer. What benefits do you think I may be missing NOT being in movie mode?
Has anyone of you experienced the smart hub turning on by itself while watching tv? It happened to me a couple of times. It flashes then disappears. Sometimes it stays on. I'm curious how I can turn that off or prevent it from happening.

known issue, flashes for 0.2 seconds then goes away for me.

This is an on-going major issue.. Smart hub flashes up within 3-minutes of power up. Samsung has yet to release a working fix. If you call support they will tell you to reset smart hub and it will delete all your apps and not address the issue, then they will set up a service appointment where a tech will come out and do nothing but contact samsung just to be informed of a future unknown smart hub update fix.
I suggest "everyone" post your concerns here for samsung reps to see and reply;

Accuracy in the picture on the screen. ( color, shadow detail, skin tones etc) Edited by Bolt989 - 1/1/13 at 12:31pm

Nice! We're all set then!
I have listed a Movie mode that I love and two Standard modes. The first Standard mode I have listed doesn't diminish CE Dimming though so I don't use it, but like you, I do use Standard mode (the one diminishing CE Dimming), without Dynamic Contrast turned on. Movie mode is easier to "calibrate" and because of the lack of Micro Dimming and more calibration options, does have better/truer colors, but I got Standard colors to almost perfectly match my Movie colors. Because of that, I'm in Standard, taking advantage of MD to give me better blacks/less clouding. I do go back and forth though.

Funny enough ever since disabled wifi on the tv the smart hub bug has gone away. I wonder if its that simple....

Also try Turboman123 settings - AVS Samsung Forum (Page 267 - Post#8007) - and the BT1886 "Gamma" settings (short for "Black" & "Tan.") Edited by Ricoflashback - 1/1/13 at 2:31pm

I probably should. I've tried a lot of setting before settling on mine, and the best color and white balance settings for me were the CNET Movie mode settings for the 55" ES. Being Turbo and you you both have 65" TVs, it didn't surprise me that you thought his worked best on yours. Even then, I'm sure there are some differences between his and yours. I've just been so happy since tweaking my settings that I haven't bothered trying any others. I am curious though. If the next FW update doesn't fix my Eco sensor issue, my next step will be a full reset, at which point, maybe I'll try Turbo's before putting mine back in. I have a feeling his settings will work better for you than they do me on the 60" though. I was going to get involved with borrowing Turbos equipment, but I'm an all Mac house and can't run his software. That being said, I bet the BT Gamma settings are awesome. Each set is different. The only way to get a proper calibration is to have it pro calibrated with equipment. Using someone else's settings is silly and may even do more worse than good. Using someone else's calibrated settings is far from accurate.
Using someone else's 10p white balance is the worse. With that your really messing up the image, even if u think it looks good, its not and can get much much better from a actual pro calibration. For those who want accuracy (think movie theater color)

Total B.S. - forget "accuracy," this issue is how the TV looks for you and the best performance you can get. FYI - I cross checked Turboman123 settings against the Disney WOW disc and did not need to make any adjustments - - they were spot on.
And there is no point in this forum if we can't exchange ideas and settings -- unless folks want to hear you extol the praises of Plasma technology and rip the Sammy sets. Oh, that's right, you have one now.
A meter is the only way to get 100% accurate color/10p white balance, period. This is 100% factual. Using someone else's 10p white balance is pointless and more than likely doing mote worse than good. I like to have that "movie theater" type experience when I watch movies. I calibrated my own es8000 using my equipment and I dont share settings because like I have said its useless.
The point is, it can get a lot better with a pro calibration. Edited by Bolt989 - 1/1/13 at 3:54pm

Will have to check that out... Thanks. You may want to post your find over at the cnet samsung forum where someone from samsung will see this information. Who knows, it could help lead to a working fix;
I know this is a dumb question, but what does the 1920 x 1080/ 60i or 60p mean?
Well the 60i/60p that I see, what does that mean specifically? Is that a good number to have there or should it be higher/lower?
I'm seeing this when I switch from my UVerse box to my XBox.
Also, my TV has been up for a few days now, not watched a BluRay yet, but the AT&T UVerse picture is a bit disappointing, is that just based on the nature of this service and box?
