Reminds me of the "DTS is better because the LFE is louder" scenario. Aggressive bass = good audio? I love bass very much, but Hollywood has gotten a bit out of control with its liberal application of it. The film "Hot Fuzz" poked fun at this, but only people with decent audio systems got the joke. LOL

I agree. There can be too much of a good thing. I mean I love great audio but I also want it to do the story justice , not just be there for its own sake.

Thought this sounded terrific (UK disc, mind). The rears are excellent and I never thought that the bass was overpowering. Loud, yes, but not to the point of overwhelming the rears.

(Shame about the blue tint which replaces video black and blows out shadow detail on the 3D version, but you can't have everything.)

And it does it with a kickazz sense of urgency that never let's up. To me, it was a pulpy, popcorn movie in the best sense. Although a lot of critics panned it, David Ansen saw it exactly as I did. track his review down for a good contrary take to the seemingly popular bandwagon opinion.
Oh and screw the 3D version. this film was too dark to merit that overused gimmickry.

I hope it is since this was my 1st time with this series. The reason I never watched the 1st 3 is because I always thought Kate looks too dainty to be this kick ass vampire killer. But I gave it a shot and was enthralled by it and my only let down is how short this film was. It whizzed by like an hour TV show...well at least it felt like it.

Looks like there will be a 5th one definitely in the end with her daughter and her holding hands on their new journey. I might watch the 2nd but I recall watching the 1st on and off with lots of distractions somewhere at someone's house and it didn't capture my interest.

I'm gonna watch this tonight I have the Hsu Uls15 Quad Drive. Should be interesting.

The bass on this movie is over the top. Too much really for my taste. It's distracting.

i liked this one a little more than rise of the lycans... but so far i've seen it just once

repeat viewings may lose me

still worth $19 to add more Kate in tight leather to my collection

Bass was definitely over-the-top. But you can always turn it down a notch or two.

Is it just me, or Kate just does not look as good as she did?

After watching the BD last nite, I have to come to the conclusion we now have a new LFE King.
I have never heard so much in ONE movie before.

I thought I noticed a lot of DNR on her closeups.

I thought I noticed some too.
Although this is one movie where using DNR to make the faces of vampires pasty (or smooth) makes a lot of sense stylistically (IMO).

I finally saw it yesterday. First rate PQ, which isn't surprising from Sony, and the audio...wow...loud, powerful, but everything seemed 'in place' too, surrounds, dialogue. One of the best soundtracks I've heard. Now I wondered while watching the movie, when is it supposed to take place exactly? They drive 20 year olds volvos and use CRTs?! In the first film, their high tech stuff seemed more 'contemporary', and I had the feeling they deliberately mixed old-fashioned, 'relic-from-the-past' tech with for example highly developed weaponery maybe to make it look more 'out of time' or something. Did anyone else notice it?

I also thought the film was too short, compared to the 134 mins of the first one. One thing for sure, I'll be there for the 5th installment if, hopefully, there's one. I like this series, not just for Kate (fwiw I still think #1 and #3 are the best of the series - if only they could bring back Michael Sheen in the next one!)

This one seemed sloppily done compared to the first three, with little in the way of love thrown at it by comparison. So, things like the tech and the overall feel and look, just didn't have as much attention lavished upon them.

1 and 3 were by far the best of the series. This one being a VERY distant 4th.

Selene and Michael were kept in-stasis for 12 years after U2 (although it was unclear when they were captured).

Yeah, I did too.
I don't what the hell they were thinking here....
BTW, in U1, Selene drove a new Maserati GT.

He is missed.
However, I can't think of how to bring him back in any credible way.

I bought this site unseen. I'm hoping it was worth the buy. Mind you I did do that $5 BB thing.

So now I have to wait for the wife to go out and crank it up...

I'm buying it eventually, simply to have them all, in case of a marathon. Otherwise, I wouldn't purchase this one unless the price was extremely attractive.

The Volvo didn't bother me at all. You do know that the directors are Swedish and that they wanted to work in a little something from the mother country, right? And to me, those blocky-ass old ones are more identifiably 'Volvo-ish' than the smooth-lined modern-day versions.

Hey, I'm a big homer for Kate as the next guy and I found her attractive in every movie she ever did. But for some reason, even with the tightly clad leather, something about her facial expression, she was not attractive as her usual hot self.
