Hey guys. I just picked up the 55" size of this set last Saturday and am enjoying it so far, however, I do have a question about the software update. In reading many different threads on this site, I noticed that some owners of this tv have downloaded update 04.12.10, however, the latest update that I can download is 04.02.85. Just wondering what I could be doing wrong and hoping for some advice.

Thanks in advance!

It wasn't a shadow or fuzzy trail; it was a complete 2nd ball about 2 ball widths behind the first. It was unwatchable.

Is this common cause i am experiancing the same 2 ball problem ? Is there a way to fix this ?

I am surprised those settings are good for you, but certainly happy if you do like them. That backlight even in a dark room is just too low, much lower than any pro calibration I have seen. And in no circumstance can High Dimming be good regardless of the settings. It creates banding and makes everything dull. Colors have no pop and to my eyes scenes just do not look normal. I'm not a professional calibrator so I can't say those setting are "wrong" but I could not watch TV with them. Also not having any sharpness goes against any calibration disc, Pro calibration, the built in wizard, or my own eyes. Almost makes some things look blurry. Perhaps he made some changes elsewhere to settings we can not in the settings to offset the ones shown. That would explain it, except the High Dimming. But again if the result is perfect for you that is all that matters!

Apparently some areas of the country have access to 04.12.10 update and others do not. I fall in the do not category. I'm stuck on 04.02. 85 here in Minnesota. I'm sure we will eventually get it.

That's the first thing that jumped out at me--NO SHARPNESS! That would be unwatchable, IMO.

Hi All just picked up this TV from Amazon it will be here on Friday. Just a couple of questions:

1) How is the input lag on this Tv? I am big games and play COD MW on my xbox 360 all the time.
2) How reflective is the screen? My living room is bright and i do a get ambient light.

BTW i bought the 55inch version

Please advise.

Thank you.

I am having an issue where some still screens like the start up screen and menu screens for my wd live have a little blur or a little fuzziness on the text and edges. And when watching Sons of anarchy through my cable box last night had instances with some blur at different times. this is with out of the box settings I am not sure which mode I am using, but I tried a few different ones. I haven't played a dvd or anything yet. I really noticed bad when there was some fine small print at the bottom of the screen it almost looked like it was in 3d mode or something. it was like there was two layers of the text. text is the worst that it does it on. Is there anything I should try in the settings before calling LG or returning the set.

I have the disney wow disc I was going to use and I also have a free professional calabration I am going to call for from best buy since I am a silver rewards member. But is there any base line or anything I need to use. The fuzzy print and menus is really annoying and makes me wonder if it is defective

i prefer to use this app rather than the magic remote. also it can take snap shots

I agree. I see a lot of "professional" calibration settings on this site, and the backlight is always extremely low. How are you guys watching this TV in the daytime? It has to be virtually impossible. It might work in a completely dark room, but I just can't see the picture as being any good at around a 32 backlight.

I connect to cable tv box. tV is going back this weekend. There are no solutions. Some movies are fine, some are horrible, and the gaming on Xbox is completely lagged. Anyone have any comparable TVs ideas?

Some people have switched to the alternate download servers and are downloading betas. There are instructions in this thread on how to do that. You need a special remote.

My question is if we can connect to these servers on our computers, and download the files to a USB stick to flash on our TVs.

those who were able to go into service menu..canyou guys please check a nd confirm if there is any option to change NTSC to PAL video format. I heard that it was possible in the last year model.

You would be able to see by changing Country Group from USA to something else...dont remember...please confirm if you can to have PAL option selected.

Thanks in advance....and another thing, i heard, we can record tv programs with this tv by hooking up ext. hard disc in UK models ONLY. is it true?

Finally, I got through to some awesome techines at LG. Tech Robert helped me narrow down the WiDi issue. Not only does the LG tv and the WiDi equipped laptop have to be on the same network connection (both wifi or hardwired), it also helps to open up three (3) ports on your router. Finally, I needed to play around with the available wifi channels and choose one that worked best. Changing the channel made all the difference in the world. Finally, I can connect everytime without difficulty.

My eyes can see it but it's apparently too dim for the camera's sensors to pickup. Thanks for trying.

You can not make that change on these TV's. A tech would need to use a computer to make that and many other changes.

Software 04.12.99 now available. I have not found any changes.
Hi where did you see the 04.12.99 update? I checked on the LG site they are not showing this update its still the old one 04.12.85
post #1497 of 3596
Just installed 04.12.99. Home screen is much more responsive and backlight tracking seems better. Trumotion still glitchy with 1080p/60Hz content. 1080p/24Hz is flawless and awesome!
I do now see the home screen is indeed faster loading, less lag with moving the pointer, etc.... I also noticed over the last couple of update Youtube plays very well now.

Have you compared your settings to the well known Calibrated settings on the web? I put these values into Expert 2 and in comparison it's extremely dull, lacking color, and brightness. If you haven't I highly recommend you do, and if you find the populated settings online to be better I would get a refund for your professionally calibrated settings.

This is awesome, I am going to do the same thing in a few minutes and see if they'll send me one as well as the motion remotes novelty has already worn off.

The input lag is very very minimal. I would say its 5ms or less, I've done an input lag test in comparison with my 5ms Acer Monitor and it was identical after 8 minutes of running...

The screen is very reflective, I knew this and wen't out and bought Thermal Black Curtains for my windows....highly recommend it. Picture quality on this set is phenomenal though, so there are many positives, with a few negatives.
