It might be worth the time to return the TV for another one if all four corners have it. Low local dimming takes away most all on my TV.

Ok, guys. I need some help. I ordered and received a Harmony 300 remote, but am having a hard time programming it to access the service menu. I've gone to this web page http://openlgtv.org.ru/wiki/index.php/Hidden_service_modes_/_menus and have followed the directions as best I know how, but I'm still having problems. When I try to get the pronto codes loaded, the Harmony program can never seem to connect to the remote. Also, I don't see the preloaded buttons for LM7600 to access the service menu.

All I want to do is access the alternate servers and download the new firmware. I know that I'm doing something wrong, but just not sure what. Also, this hacking stuff is pretty new to me as you no doubt can tell. So, please use small, easy to understand words that my old man mind can grasp.

Thanks!

Forget the Pronto codes if you have a Harmony. Just do this:

Follow this procedure for In-Start, In-Stop and EZ-ADJ
Go to http://myharmony.com/ and log in to your account
Click on "DEVICES" tab and click on "Add a device"
In manufacturer field enter "LG" and in model number add 47LE5300-UC and then click on Add. Your device should now be added.
Click on "Buttons" and select LG 47LE5300-UC in the select box and click on "Go"
On the right hand side of the screen you should see all the commands for this device, just drag the commands you want to a unused button on the remote.
Once you are done click on "Save"
Remember to sync your remote

thx1138,

Thank you! What's funny about this (at least to me) is that my wife constantly reminds me that I am a very literal person (you know, not good at reading between the lines) and in this case, I actually should have just LITERALLY done what was listed on that web page. Irony...

I was able to change to the engineer server and download the most recent update which was 04.12.20. I noticed that the most recent one you guys had was 04.12.99. Just a newer update or have I screwed up something?

Which retailer are you dealing with?

Are you dealing with LG through warranty repair?

Did you go back and look again to see if there is an update? Sometimes the most recent can't be downloaded till a previous one is.

Hey tampa. I did go back once the update finished, specifically to check if another update was available. However, it says I have the most recent update. LOL, this is not unusual for me. If it had worked just right the first time, I would have been suspicious.

I'm still using the magic remote was well, but since I've performed the update, it's painfully slow to bring up the regular menu or do anything.

Yes, the earlier updates did seem to slow down performance of the menus. Good news is, when you get the more recent updates it gets fixed, and most of us see a better Trumotion.

its bestbuy. after u purchased a tv they have 30 days returned policy, and after u returned/exchanged the tv they will give u another 30 days policy which is good. thats why im on my 3rd set now and, hopefully this set is no defects at all. but i havent test it yet because im away at home.

i didnt get the 3 year warranty at LG because im still checking if the tv is fine, as soon as i dont see any banding problems or dead pixel porblems that is the time i am getting the 3yr extended warranty from LG.
I just set up the tv and i am having some troubles with having the picture being blurry.

Its like i can see the individual pixels thus a block (of pixels) are blurry. It is quite distracting.

Hope this makes sense! please help!

edit:

Like i am watching some sports and the players have little blurs around them even when its not a fast scene.

When it shows things up close it is really sharp but even a little bit in the background it is like out of focus

Nice. I exchanged this TV once with Amazon, and they cut me off. But to be fair, I purchased two sets from them before I went through a total of maybe 5 exchanges throughout those two sets. Not my fault (TVs came damaged out of the box) but they have flagged me as a high frequency returner.

this blur pixelation is driving me nuts!

i also can not tell the difference switching between trumotion settings. does not show the soe!

the picture looks grainy as well ---> like the picture moves but i can notice little tiny black spots every where and they don't move

edit:

i think i figured out the grainy bit. is there a cover on the tv?! i have not pulled anything of the front of the tv. is there a plastic film on it?!
A piece of paper that came with it said warning: please do not peel off the outer film on the screen.

huh?!!?

Maybe you need the store you bought from to set up the TV for you?
i bought it from amazon. the picture is perfect if people are up close but once they barely start moving or are in the background they develop an outline around them that is blurry. I literally can see the square pixels.

i did some more investigating and there is a plastic film on the front of the tv. Look at one of the corners of the tv and you can clearly see a plastic on it (sort of like what you would put on your iphone).
but the warning says not to take it off! i think that is what is causing the grains to be seen which is a totally different issue to the blurry pixelation. it only can be seen on a darker substance and looks like there is dust on the tv.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts graz..

i have been reading the thread and this guy sounds like experienced the same exact thing for the blurry problems.

even logos on stations have an outline of blurry pixelation

But I went and tried a handful of the various calibration settings and then the Wizard and things are much improved and I'm now confident that I can dial this TV in to my liking.

The two issues that I still have is that I still feel that the picture detail could be sharper. I know I've walked by tv's in the store and seen the detail clearer in images. But the most bothersome issue (and it may have increased since altering my settings) is that when watching a figure - human or animal - that is moving it seems to have a border that looks distorted around it - like the effect when driving of heat coming off of the pavement distorting the horizon - do you know what I mean? I think it seems the most obvious when the figure is lighter in color than the background that is richly colored such as dark field green. In fact, it seems the most obvious when watching football players running against the field. It can be very distracting and I like watching football! I 'm pretty sure I read about someone else having this issue in one of the LG LED threads but i can't find it now. I have tried adjusting true motion for this but it has not had much effect. Any Ideas?
If I can get this resolved I'll be thrilled with this set!
I had a fair amount of light bleed out if the box, but the adjustments I've made have reduced it to the point that it is of no consequence to me. Perhaps because I've come from a 1987 vintage CRT and this is my first flat screen TV, I'm generally blown away and haven't gotten to anything more than TV usage yet - as far as I'm concerned the rest will be frosting. I'll also add that I'm happy with the sound from this set. I think it helps to have it backed right against a wall, but for those who might wonder about the sound , when mounted this way I don't think most people would feel the need for additional audio equipment for general tv use.
BTW, I'm updated to software version 04.02.85.
Thanks!

the bolded part is one of the symptoms i am experiencing!

The glowing around the characters is due to your TruMotion setting. LG did not get their backlight scanning algorithm right, so we have to turn TruMotion down for now. This is a common problem on not just the 7600, but the 6200 and other models.

Try settings of "2" or less for both deblur and dejutter. It is very minimal on 2, and virtually nonexistent on 1.

I am sure you have a setting of 3 (smooth) or more on yours currently.

For example, at lot of the time I won't notice it, but if I'm watching soccer, where the picture is constantly moving left to right or vice versa, I can kind of see some sort of streaking in the background. And watching Boardwalk Empire last night, near the end where they're outside by the cars and there's a lot of black, I could see something.
Kind of a drag, I'd rather not deal with an exchange, but may have to. I had the LED dimming at low, bumping it up to medium decreases streaking, but I feel it's too dark. Tried adjusting with a little more brightness and backlight, but while it would look good in some places, it would be overly bright in others, so it just didn't look as good. It's weird because with an all black screen, like during the credits of something, you can kind of see something, but it doesn't seem that noticeable. And it's hard to take a picture of because the pics come out either too dark or make the screen look worse than it is.
I don't recall, I may have to run through this thread again, was there any difference in backlighting between newer builds and older, or is it all a crap shoot? Cuz the one I just got was built in April.

i get the exact same thing! it is very noticeable and distracting! it seems like there is something on the tv! if you look closely there is a plastic film (like what you put on an iphone) and there was a notice in the box that said leave the plastic film on do not take it off!

so i am wondering if it is this that makes the "drag" effect? i see it everywhere. its like dust on the tv. driving me nuts!

i have tried it on and tried it off. i don't see a difference at all. could it be my software? my current version is 04.02.85.

i just have two issues with this dang tv!

1. the blurry pixelation (it is everywhere in the distance. if something is up close it looks fantastic, otherwise it has a pavement heat effect around everything. even if it is static)
2. what seems to be vertical banding (even on game mode during fifa, just subtle panning motions shows clouds on the tv. like it is physically there)

carbon - im tempted to order that panny et5. this is driving me insane frown.gif

i dont know if it is my cable provider or what. Also can someone check to see if they have that plastic film on the front of the tv. If you look at like the top right corner you can see there is a plastic film on it. I am curious if mine is the only one with it on. I am tempted to peel it off even tho there was a warning in the box saying not to take it off. i would appreciate it guys!

Guys, this TV has a first rate picture. So anything less than that means there is a settings problem or something wrong with that particular TV.

Without a picture or video of what you are describing we can only guess. First, every LCD TV I have ever bought, small size to large, has a plastic protective film that you take off after the TV has been mounted.
Second, a setting of "Smooth" for Trumotion produces very little distortion, in fact none in most scenes. Sometimes if there is a fence, or blinds behind the person you do see some distortion around the head.
And I disagree the current 7600 is like past LG sets for Trumotion distortion. I have three LG sets, the two older ones show quite alot more distortion. And since the latest updates trumotion is even better. (Even if you do choose not to get the Engineer updates, Trumotion is good)

You have to know it would not be getting good reviews by professional reviewers/calibrators as well as so many here if there was an inherent problem with the picture.

If you went to a much larger TV than you had before it is not impossible the problem is with the Cable provider. Is it an HD signal? Smaller screens show less potential problems with the signal.I have Dish Network, I have also seen my TV model with Direct TV, both pictures great, there is no pixelization. (Also in the store the live picture looked good with whatever their source was) But if the cable provider has a bad signal the TV will too. I would not expect it to be as bad as you are describing from a Cable company though.
Have you tried a direct source, like a blue-ray or DVD player? OR Directly from an antenna for OTA?

In any case, I have pictures posted below. Just looking for opinions on those who have owned this set on whether what you see in these pictures is norma, or if I should return the TV. I have never considered myself to be an anal TV geek, but after purchasing this maybe I am not sure. The white hot spots are in all four corners of the TV and our distracting.
Settings wise, I have tried a few things but the only way to truly dull the hot spots is to turn blacklight way down, as well as brightness, but then the television looks far too dark. With the pictures below, the backlighting is set pretty low.
Anyways, can you guys offer some general opinions? Is it worth unscrewing the corners to get the white spots to diffuse. If i do should a retighten them?
Thanks for any help

Are you talking about the light coming out the back of your TV hitting the wall?

this is the best i could do for an image. it is an hd source and i have tried it with trumotion all the way up and completely off. it produces the same results. i will try a direct source.

in the image, around the player you can see the "heat wave" effect of blurry pixelation. THIS is with subtle movement. As you can see with the hand, it is motion blur which i can tolerate. BUT the pixelation problem is eye catching.

TAMPA did you specifically peel of a plastic film on this tv? the second image is the notice that came with the instructions. I could not get a good picture of the plastic film on my tv.

I do know that when I was playing Xbox 360 (labeled PC and in game mode) i did not see any blur pixelation. However, I do see the "cloudy" vertical banding or whatever it is as I do see it on cable tv as well. In subtle camera movements, you can see what appears to be "smudges" on the tv and the picture moves behind it. The only thing I can think of is this plastic film unless it is completely something wrong with the tv. Local dimming has been on and off and it occurs.

This ultimately is the deal breaker. The pixelation if sat far enough from the tv is less noticeable and can live with. However, the "cloudy" vertical streaks is noticeable even if people walk. It can be seen on their clothes or hat. They move but these streaks do not!
