Hey guys, I just got the 55" LM7600 delivered yesterday and I was messing with it all last night - the picture looks great, but I'm just not as blown away as I thought I would be. I'll have to try some of the calibrated settings found here once I get home from work today. Other than the PQ, the apps are a bit slow, but that's to be expected from a single core chip I guess. I'm really liking the remote though (unlike a lot of people); it's pretty much perfect except for 1 thing - the cursor disappears too quickly, and then I have to wave the remote around again for it to reappear which seems to lag for a second or two - that gets annoying fast. Of course it's also horrible for typing, but that's not so much a con for the remote itself, more so just a need for them to include some sort of qwerty keyboard.
I also can't get the TV to access any files on my PC on my WiFi network. It finds my networked PC just fine, but when trying to connect it keeps saying "Error" every time. I have sharing set correctly so I'm not sure what's going on. At least I'm lucky to have gotten one of the sets with zero edge bleeding from the sides or corners, flashlighting or anything of the sort. That's the number one pro for this set so far IMO - blacks are pitch black on the entirety of the display, so much so that I could barely make out the black bezel around the display during dark scenes. In comparison my old 50" plasma TV was pretty sharp with HD content, but the blacks were HORRIBLE - more like dark greys, at best.
One of my main disappointments is with the 3D...yes it's very cool, but I've watched 4 different 3D movies and they all seem to only have the effect of depth INTO the TV, with very minimal OUT of the TV effect. I've maxed out the 3D settings and it has no affect. I'm a huge 3D fan, and one of the main factors that led me to buy this TV was the 3D demo I watched in my local BB store...it was INCREDIBLE! They had a few different clips of various things like feathers floating around (which literally felt like they were right in front of my face), and someone kicking a wooden board in half and the wood pieces came flying by my head. The "popping WAY out of the TV" effect was shown off in full force. Have you guys seen this demo?? It was shown on the exact set I have, so unless there was some witchcraft or wizardry bestowed upon it, I should be able to get that same effect on my set.
I've read that this varies with the movies themselves, so maybe I just have yet to find a 3D movie with that "in front of your face" 3D effect??? Nothing I've watched comes even remotely close to the 3D effect I saw in that demo. I've tried to find a downloadable version of that demo, but I can't find it anywhere! =( Anyone have any suggestions for a movie or even a clip that would produce that effect??
