Are you accessing the apps via a wireless router or a hard-wired ethernet cable? If you're wireless and you don't have a strong signal the apps get a bit slow. I'm ready to buy another modem and hard wire internet access right into the TV.
I'm really liking the remote though (unlike a lot of people); it's pretty much perfect except for 1 thing - the cursor disappears too quickly, and then I have to wave the remote around again for it to reappear which seems to lag for a second or two - that gets annoying fast. Of course it's also horrible for typing, but that's not so much a con for the remote itself, more so just a need for them to include some sort of qwerty keyboard.
I love the remote as well! If you have a smartphone you can get LG's app to have it act as the TV's remote. It might be a good workaround for typing URL's into the browser.
I also can't get the TV to access any files on my PC on my WiFi network. It finds my networked PC just fine, but when trying to connect it keeps saying "Error" every time. I have sharing set correctly so I'm not sure what's going on.
I haven't fiddled with this so I can't comment.
At least I'm lucky to have gotten one of the sets with zero edge bleeding from the sides or corners, flashlighting or anything of the sort. That's the number one pro for this set so far IMO - blacks are pitch black on the entirety of the display, so much so that I could barely make out the black bezel around the display during dark scenes.
Yes, when this TV is good it's really good. I'm perfectly happy with the way blacks appear on the screen.
One of my main disappointments is with the 3D...yes it's very cool, but I've watched 4 different 3D movies and they all seem to only have the effect of depth INTO the TV, with very minimal OUT of the TV effect. I've maxed out the 3D settings and it has no affect. I'm a huge 3D fan, and one of the main factors that led me to buy this TV was the 3D demo I watched in my local BB store...it was INCREDIBLE! They had a few different clips of various things like feathers floating around (which literally felt like they were right in front of my face), and someone kicking a wooden board in half and the wood pieces came flying by my head. The "popping WAY out of the TV" effect was shown off in full force. Have you guys seen this demo??
Yes, it's on your set. It's included in the 3D World of LG Apps. Don't remember the name but it's got Sports in the title.
I've read that this varies with the movies themselves, so maybe I just have yet to find a 3D movie with that "in front of your face" 3D effect??? Nothing I've watched comes even remotely close to the 3D effect I saw in that demo. I've tried to find a downloadable version of that demo, but I can't find it anywhere! =( Anyone have any suggestions for a movie or even a clip that would produce that effect??
"Under the Sea" documentary is pretty good. There are a couple of scenes with sea snakes that are pretty mind bending. Same thing with "IMAX Space Station." There is a scene in Space Station where a female astronaut tosses an orange at the camera, it hits the plexiglass cover and bounces back at her. Totally "pop" effect (I almost ducked), plus if you have surround sound you swear the sound of the orange hitting the glass is behind you. "Journey 2--Mysterious Island" has some nice 3D scenes, too bad the movie itself is kind of uninspired.
