Official LG XXLM7600 Owners Thread... - Page 63

New member to the avsforum and just want to say hi. I bought the 55LM7600 today from amazon and it is scheduled to be delivered the day after Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to it since I have been reading reviews as well as keeping an eye on the price. This will replace my 7 years old Syntax Olevia (37".) I can't wait to hook my PS3 with it and become a couch potato smile.gif

I am still busy reading this thread, currently on page 9...

I am still deciding whether to buy an extended warranty (SquareTrade.)

Look forward to learn more about the TV from here.

Friend would love to activate THX as it had activated on LW5700!

you know what the best firmware to use on LM7600? koreana?

Thanks for the reply!

If you look through the thread there are settings given that are the same as activating a THX picture. Again, for the U.S. on these new TV's you can not make the changes you are asking about, not even if you have a technicians remote. I have no idea if the TV has firmware from another Country if those changes can be made.

Someone in this thread must have the same HTIB as me... smile.gif

Please excuse this dumb question but did you remove the protective soft plastic covers from both ends of the optical cable before connecting?

As a test maybe try connecting the optical cable from the optical out on your cable box to the optical in on the HTIB, select the optical input on the HTIB and see if you get sound. This would tell you whether the problem is the tv or the Htib.

Also, try changing the digital output format on your tv.

Hey there,

I'm itching to pull the trigger on this tv, but still have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you guys might be able to help answer. Which, if any, Apple devices/computers have you had trouble connecting to this tv? I have a ton of digitized vhs movies most of which look tolerable on my 27inch 720 LG but I'm a little concerned about them being unwatchable on this beast; are there any specific settings which could improve the way they look? Also, aside from the delay in returns and shipping from Amazon and the moral issue of supporting local businesses, are there other reasons it would be preferable to use a brick & mortar to buy this? I've been watching the prices drop on Amazon over the last week or so and none of the big box stores are anywhere close to matching them. And is it really dumb to order a tv which will be mailed during a time such as Black Friday when tons of stuff is getting shipped because of the increased likelihood of damages in transit? Thanks. This place is a wealth of information.

Also, what are good settings for the TV? I currently have eco-dimming to off, and the picture on standard. I have windows in my living room.
When you switch inputs (eg. PS3), is there any way to force the 120hz/240hz to turn on? I want to have that on when I watch netflix or youtube (since with the new FW update, I can't find those apps anymore!).
Thank you
Bump on this, please.

Best Buy will match Amazon on price, why do you say they won't? Did the salesman tell you they wouldn't? P.C. Richards (if there is one near you) also will honor the lowest price. They won't if you show them a sale from a local only or regional only dealer that is not in your region. I am also confused, are you saying you won't buy a larger size TV if the VHS digitized movies don't look good and will stay with a 27" forever? Most likely they will not look as good on a larger TV.

+1

I just did the same thing this afternoon. I read that amazon is not an authorized dealer anymore (because they advertise lower price than brick and mortar) and I worry that there would be a warranty issue after 30 days. I went there and they agree to price match amazon as long as the tv is from amazon.com. They also gave me the Call of Duty deal (today is the last day.)
Glad to know BB is agreeing to price match Amazon; their website specifically states that they only price match Brick and Mortar stores not website only vendors.

So, is there a way to make very low grade content look passable? I'm not too picky, but it'd be nice to be able to get the files to look as good as possible. I am considering going with a lower quality tv though no smaller than 47 inches if it would make my movies look better. I only rarely watch OTA TV, have absolutely zero interest in 3D and am happy using an old laptop as media server. The moving company destroyed my tv amongst other things so I need a new screen and this one is the best reviewed in its class that I've come across. And I like LG tvs and the design of the cinema screens.

Hello everyone! I purchased my new LG 55LM7600 yesterday, and so far I am loving it! I have noticed some backlight bleeding around the upper left corner. It doesn't cripple my experience watching a movie, but I just want to double check if any other owners can see if my problem is bad (so I can exchange it). I will have pictures of course!

Don't mind the little dot on the screen, that is my mouse cursor.

The 47 inch is now down to $1,034 on Amazon.

My opinion - if you were to think that was bad then probably no backlight LCD TV would do. Also do you have local dimming set to low? I highly recommend that setting and it may reduce that one spot even more.

I too agree that you probably have one of the better units. I couldn't see EXIF data in your photos but DSLR usually overexposes trying to make the picture brighter when it's dark instead of giving you what you see with naked eye. I am on the fence on exchanging mine (photos are in 7200 thread). I just don't want to end up with an inferior set. These bleeding would only be visible on very dark scenes but now that you know where to look you'll probably notice it every time.

Sorry, but what is EXIF? I looked around at yours and others, and I do agree that mine isn't so bad, but that that upper left corner is really annoying now maybe because I automatically look for it. It sucks watching movies in widescreen now hah...

It's my first high-end LCD LED TV. I have local dimming turned off. I'll just live with it.

Weird, I don't have those 3. One is just 'ISF 1' and then 'ISF 2'. I don't have a Day/Night/3D option, unless there is some setting I am missing or custom firmware. I am using the latest firmware available.

That upper left corner is noticable but I've seen much worse. It is concentrated on the upper edge but is diffused enough elsewhere to where I'd simply live with it. Have you tried massaging it out? At the point furthest from the corner that the light blooming stretches to, lightly grip the TV's bezel with thumb in front and fingers on the back and run your hand linearly toward the corner of the set. Vary your pressure and see if it shrinks the size of the bloom. I don't know why this works but I believe it helps out a little bit. Won't get rid of it, but seems to reduce it.

I say this because I never had a light "bloom", I've got minimal edge lighting similar to what you've got in your upper edge, right side corner. But the other day I noticed I had a "light cloud" in the upper left hand corner. I used the massage technique and it made it smaller. Now I look for it and inexplicably sometimes it's there and other times it's not.

BTW, a really good way to see the extent of the light bleed is to put the TV's input on something that is not being used and go to the Apps menu. When you examine the smaller, TV inset in the upper left hand corner you can really see the amount of light blooming and edge lighting. I do this by putting the input on the HDMI input connected to my kids PS3 with the PS3 turned off.

I hired a Professional calibrator to calibrate my set. He is the one who activate those calibrayed settings and locked it.

Is there a reason you have local dimming turned off for this particular TV?

For the life of me I cannot get my 7600 to update to a engineer version so that I can DTS passthrough working. I have the RCA remote. I've enabled engineer NSU mode. Any ideas?
I have LED dimming turned on just because it turns down the little bit of bleed at the top.
It also makes blacks a little blacker if you look closely. Low sometimes fools people that is it isn't doing anything. It takes a moment for it to be seen. It does reduce bleed, and actually shadows are better. For me more is not better however, I don't like what med or high does.

I have done pretty exhaustive searching and can't find anyone mentioning this problem, so I'll see if anyone can help me. I just bought my LG 55LM7600 last night and am absolutely loving it. The only problem I'm having is I lost the ability to change "audio language" when watching video files streamed from my server after upgrading the firmware. I believe out-of-the-box my TV had Ver.04.03.07 (I'm not 100% sure about that but it is close) and after upgrading to Ver.04.20.18 the menu option to change "audio language" is always grayed-out for files it previously was not that I know have multiple audio tracks (and like I said, out-of-the-box language selection was working and nothing else changed that I know of except for downloading/installing the new TV firmware).

If anyone has had a similar experience or if anyone could offer any assistance, I would be very grateful! Also, does anyone know if LG has a bug tracker for their Smart TV firmware so I could at least report the issue? Emailing the first level of customer service about this just doesn't seem like it will get the issue to the eyes that need to see it haha.

My tv also had an update today and the same thing happened to me, unfortunately i have no idea what happened or how i fix it so i'll just wait if anyone can figure out some way to fix this.

Did some other audio setting change perhaps that doesn't now see sub audio tracks? I would try going to the sound setting and toggle or change the settings especially the PCM/auto setting.
