The Samsung my Brother has is about 8 months old, but he does not live near me, I saw it over two days while I was there and don't remember what model. I felt the blacks were very good, yet could see color graduations. Without seeing them side by side, I would say the LG does not quite have as good blacks, but does even a little better showing dark browns. I think this is because the LG is more vibrant. Colors just seem to jump off the screen better, more "alive" while the Samsung to me a little on the subdued side. So darker reds and browns are better distinguished. If both were professionally calibrated then a the real differences could be determined.....
Fwiw, in the stores both TV's not calibrated I feel the same way - the LG just has a better looking overall picture to me.

For 3D, I'll likely have our eye-height at the bottom bezel. Will this cross-talk things up? I couldn't verify this properly at BB, their display was too low and I couldn't get under it enough.

Get your set profesional calibrated. You will never ever gonna regret the result. You will see a big difference in PQ before and after especially blacks. And i am loving it what i am seeing on my set now. smile.gif

I am. I switch the input to TV. But I might not have something set correctly on the receiver? This receiver, Onkyo TX-SR309, has 4 hdmi connections on the back, with one listed as "output" and connects to the TV. It's the only hdmi connecting to the tv. And I have the Audio on the receiver setup to have ARC on. I don't see anywhere else that I can set or specify ARC. Am I missing something from how ARC works?

For those asking about the $1100 price, I have no idea how long micro center will have that price and they don't list the TV on their website. I had two different BB stores price match it, one of these was an hour and a half from the closest MicroCenter and they obviously were a little harder to convince. They only had one in stock and my parents also needed one so we drove down toward Duluth and had the BB there do a price match, this time it was as simple as could be, they already had a list of local phone numbers with MicroCenter on it to call and check the price and we were out of there in 15 mins.

Is there a non-user accessible menu for our tv's. That only an ISF calibrator can access?

Very deep blacks!
When I bought this TV the PC Richard showroom purposely had this TVs demo unit set up to look horrible!
Color was muddy, blacks where grey., contrast too low. I had got one of their salesmen to hand me a remote from the back and I started to change the settings. I went into expert mode and just started to play around and managed to get the picture brighter, when I seen enough to sell me, the salesman put those settings back to looking horrible.
Maybe I got lucky with this panel? Idk
They were pushing the Samsung models.

Yes, for a few things, has been covered extensively. Do a search on the thread or better take a look at the posts, there is alot you can find out.

Does anyone know how to turn off the 2 hour auto turn off timer? We need the tv on for at least 8 hrs a day, connected to a pc by hdmi.

Is there any reason not to use ZOOM in 3D when watching 2.35 sources? I thought this wouldn't work and you would end up with terrible ghosting but it actually seems to work fine. I only do this for 3D!

Y'know what's weird. This is absolutely NOT a complaint, but when I look at the 55LM7600 on the wall next to any other thicker bezel 55" TV, it looks substantially smaller. Bezel illusion. I had to take my measuring tape out and verify I wasn't going nuts. Or that I was.

Is there anyway to manually adjust the aspect ratio from within the settings? I thnk I'd use the dual play feature more often if I could tweak the awful stretched picture you're given once enabled. It's nice to see titles like Black Ops account for this from within the game.

It's not weird at all. I sell tvs for a living and have to get out my tape measure all the time to prove to customers that a slim bezel 55" has the same screen size as the fat bezel set next to it.

(phew) smile.gif So do they sell a fat bezel add-on for the LM7600's? LOL

Rexian or other on the group. Can you grab a pic of your settings for Tool Option 2?

I messed up my values on my 55LM8600 and do not now how to get things working properly again. I think the 7600 would be the same.

Here are the issues:
If I change the top number, others change (incluning backlight type)
If I change any other factors, the top stays the same and just changes the single line.
Now the input options for HDMI are just grayed out.

By the way firmware 4.20.18

-Been hacking for years but always leave breadcrumbs...not this time and now I am paying the piper.

What's the easiest source material to use to calibrate this TV? I think I remember reading that Pixar movies have the calibration tools in them? Should I use a blu ray or DVD? Would it make a difference?
My suggestion - use the complete CNET settings because in my opinion the colors especially skin tones are right on. Then, to tweak for your TV and lighting use a Blu- ray such as WOW or one of the others. When I did this, the CNET settings were just about exactly what I got doing this, with some very minor contrast and brightness changes. The Color bars were perfect.

I would try Clear Plus which enables backlight scanning and local dimming simultaneously it will give you better motion performance without out adding motion artifacts such overdrive trailing. What you are seeing is the post processing causing your set to (ghost or ghosting) , what is known as color/overdrive trailing now.

Thanks! I've already set up the CNET settings and made some changes (notably, changing it from "warm" to "cool"). What is WOW?

Is there a place which accurately defines all of those settings?

LOL. You should have replied back angrily saying that you bought it and have listened to it for 100 straight hours and it was no help at all.

I have tried everything and can't get my 47LM6200 to pass DTS. Any suggestions?
