Have you tried getting an LG service remote control to access the EDID section in the service menu and change the setting from PCM to AC3? The procedure can be found by Googling LG and EDID,AC3 or in earlier posts for last years's models. I have a one year old LG 55LX9500 and it worked fo me.

Accessing the Service Menu
To access the Service Menu.
1) You must have either Service Remote.
p/n 105-201M or p/n MKJ39170828
2) Press “In-Start”
3) A Password screen appears.
4) Enter the Password.
Note: A Password is required to enter the
Service Menu. Enter; 0000
Note: If 0000 does not work use 0413.
Service Menu: Downloading EDID Data Pg 1 of 2
1) Press “ADJ” key, E Z Adjust (tool option 1)
. 2) Select menu,
Either “PCM EDID D/L” or AC3 EDID D/L
3) Highlight “Start” then press
“Select” key
4) When Writing appears downloading in
progress
5) Downloading Complete

Note: When AC3 is downloaded, PCM will be N/G and when PCM is downloaded AC3 will be N/G.

This means that when AC3 is OK, AC3 audio is priority.

Before I did this, I contacted LG, who told me that a local LG rep would come to my home and do this free of charge. But I wanted to do it myself and am glad I did. It's great having 5.1 Dolby out of the sound system.

I need some expert help...we've owned a 55LM7600 since August...no issues. Today the sound suddenly stopped working...just out of no where. We are just using the normal TV speakers, don't have a sound bar or anything else hooked up. Sound doesn't work on any of the components - Directv, Xbox, Blu-Ray. Talk about frustrating...2 days before christmas & 3 kids home from school! We need sound on our TV. Called LG...they are sending a tech out but not until the 27th. Is there anything we could do before then? To be honest the LG lady wasn't very helpful and didn't seem to know what she was talking about.

First, got to the menu, Support and then sound test, see if you hear anything.

Go to menu and Sound, Scroll down to sound setting, make sure TV Speaker is set to on.

If none of that works, do you have a stereo system you can use with the TV and see if sound will work that way?

Tampa8, Just confirming that this was from a 55LM7600. Another forum had a digit off from your findings and would like to verify. TKS>

Just a bit confused. Does this mean you are getting DD5.1 /DTS being passed to your sound system from an HDMI source?

Yes, from my 7600. I was careful and checked to be sure I typed it correctly.... I'm not home at this time to check again....

Yes. That is correct.

Let me clarify it further. I have my cable box and BR player connecting to the tv via HDMI then an optical cable going from the tv to my sound system. With the service menu hack it will pass DTS.

I have seen a few "reboot issue" questions over the past month or so with no response. I purchased the a 47LM7600 two days ago. Love the TV, but I, also, am experiencing spontaneous reboot issues. I am actually on my second TV unit. The first one was spontaneously rebooting every 5 minutes or so. The second one (after I took the first one back and exchanged for another new one) goes a little bit longer - maybe 15 minutes to 30 minutes or so. It's certainly not rhythmic or predictable, but those are guestimates as far as timing goes. I tried calling LG support, but that was a waste of time. They say no known issues with these units and they offered to send a tech out.

I'm using an HDMI cable from a DirecTV box. It has demonstrated spontaneous reboots doing nothing, when I am in the settings page, when I go to the "home" screen, and when I am in an app. I've tried switching HDMI cables and inputs. I have also tried wired ethernet vs. wireless. I've tried plugging it into the wall vs. a power strip. The firmware is the newest (4.20.18).

Is there a secret to these things that I'm missing? Is it possible that HH Gregg (where I got the TV) got a bad batch of these things? They swear they've never had one come back, but you know how that goes. Is this an easy fix or is this something that I need to live with?

I have searched forums, and have seen the issue pop up everywhere, but no fixes mentioned.

Thanks for your help!

What router do you have?

Does anyone know if the magic remote works with LG blu ray players as well (BP620/690)? I was able to have the center ("enter") button on the scroll wheel work, but even if I aim at something else, if I hit enter on the scroll wheel, only the original icon selected would actually register. Any ideas so that I can just use the magic remote.

OR is it possible to use the LG blu ray remote control (the traditional remote control style model: AKB73615702) work with the TV?

The number 1 thing to try - not using any HDMI connection and see if the reboot stops. Unplug the HDMI cable from the TV, and if you have regular TV stations (Over the air) try them and see if the TV reboots. If no channels without the Direct TV, just have the TV on, go to menus, etc... see if it reboots.
HDMI connection is the most common element in rebooting TV's. The next would be an older house with older electrical wiring, and/or bad grounding.
It's not entirely impossible the Direct TV box has a problem, which could become a possibility if the TV does not reboot with no HDMI connected. You said you tried a different HDMI cable, if the TV does not reboot with no HDMI, you might try yet one more, and make sure it's at least 6' long.

I own a LM9600 and some have commented that if you disconnect the network connection, the TV never reboots. Strange. SJ
post #2299 of 3652
Random problem I have experienced:

If I turn on the TV and then immediately hit the settings button on the remote (to bring up the input and settings menu on the bottom of the screen) OR the home button access Netflix, sometimes the Network will not connect and I have to go into settings and hit the network icon and reconnect. Does anyone know why this could be happening? It rarely occurs if I don't immediately boot into Home/Settings, but it shouldn't either way.

Also trying no network is a good point.

Tampa, from your perspective as a fan of the 7600, what do you see as the PQ differences between 7600/6700/6200? I know the 240Hz starts at the 7600, but I was curious what your experiences are just as a viewing user. Did the 240Hz for the most part matter? Is there a quality difference in the panels themselves below 7600?

Thanks.

Hello and Merry Christmas!
I god my 760S (7600 or 760T in some countries) a few days ago and i'm experiencing a little issue with it.
The 3D World section is verry sluggish, with a lot of lag, practically sometimes i have to wait a couple of minutes on that "Loading" screen, and afterwards another couple of minutes to display the content, so it takes about 3-4 minutes to actually play some 3D content from it.

Other times (but not very often, though), it just works flawlessly.
I'm running the latest firmware version.
Any suggestions?

Before this, i had a 640S TV which worked just fine.

Tough to answer for a couple of reasons. I have seen a 6200 but did not really pay much attention to it. In the store it seemed to me the 7600 had better contrast than the 6700, I did not know there was a panel difference at that time so there was no bias when looking at them. Just seemed contrast and perhaps because of that colors were better on the 7600.
That said, after getting my 7600 calibrated using the Cnet settings and blu-ray calibration disc, the picture of the 7600 came alive, I don't know what the 6700 would look like next to it also with correct settings. Since I like the trumotion effect for all but movies, and at that time the 6700 has no conrols for that, and with the better contrast to my eyes, getting the 7600 was the choice.

What really got me to buy it was seeing it next to the Samsungs. I tried as much as I could to get them somewhat looking good in the store, including using their cinema settings, and in every case the LG just had a better picture. I went thnking I would buy a Samsung which did have the best blacks. Unless I went quite some out of the price range, few if any sets looked as good as the LG, though have to hand it to Vizio, they had one that looked quite good to my eyes, but blacks were not as good as the LG. I do feel spending more for an LCD while certainly not a guarantee of a better picture, perhaps just more toys added, does seem to get you a better picture sometimes.

Thank you for your reply. I did as you asked. I disconnected both HDMI connections, as well as the ethernet. I was running with nothing plugged into the TV. I connected wirelessly to my wifi network, and began browsing around on the TV. I successfully saw the TV reboot twice in a 10 minute period. First time was when I was browsing around the CinemaNow app and the second time was within the YouTube app.

That rules out the HDMI issue.

My house is only 20 years old, and grounding is not an issue.

I see at the top of this page someone else is experiencing the resetting/rebooting issue. This is my second set... I also browsed around Amazon feedback and it appears that many others have experienced this issue. Is this a known issue with these sets? Is there a bad batch out there?

Can someone please shed some light on this. I love the TV and really want to keep it, but random resetting/rebooting is annoying!

Thanks!
Andrew

Sorry none of the suggestions worked. The answer to your question is actually easy to see, take a look at the posts or do a search on the thread. There are not many posts about rebooting for this TV, and ones that did have a problem mostly stopped it by not connecting to the Internet. But since those posts I think there have been next to none with the problem. Mine has never done it.
If you like the set, get it fixed and/or get it replaced, it's certainly not normal and you should not have to put up with it.

I was holding off waiting for some of the latest 2012 models but my TV just died last night.

I was interested in the LG sets because of the passive 3D and styling.

How does the LG7600 rate in terms of some of the newer 2012 LED sets out there?

Should I pull the trigger or wait until the full compliment of 2012 sets comes out this year.

So you mean the 2013 sets??
There most likely is not a single person on this board who can predict the future. Sometimes new models are not as good as previous, sometimes better. Only you can decide by reading what we have already posted about this TV if it is better or worse than other models. I didn't buy it because it was bad...... smile.gif

newbie here...with a 2012 47LM7600 I've had since last fall from Amazon. Thinking I'd like to Skype on it, but think I need to get the LG camera AN-VC400. Is it available yet? Seen it on eBay but shipped from somewherefaraway which makes me hesitate. Is Skype supported yet in software? ANYBODY using a camera (that's not living in UK or Downunder or Singapore)?

TV is fine. My only complaints - and passive 3D is OK by me for what little 3D I watch - is the squirrley little remote pointy-thingie remote that I've learned to hate. It doesn't stand up but always rolls over and drops to the floor when I set it down, and it's a GDed PITA to use. (What just-out-of-college kid engineer got infatuated with seeing his first wii and decided that this is a user-friendly design over a flat rectangular design with buttons on the top.) Personally, I'd prefer to have a slide-open type remote with a minimal keyboard for internet address entry instead of an onscreen keyboard and then needing to do the pointy-click thing. Really, REALLY a crippled design for LG's remote. JMHO.
