i got this TV about 5-6 months back, but may be i am noticing this now only. when i switch on or off the TV, i get a small noise. it sounds like some fan stopping in a computer. is it there in all the TVs or just mine?
I've never heard any noise from mine. I'm still not used to it cuz I'm used to my last 2 LCDs clicking when I turn it off. Are you turning anything else off at the same time, like a receiver/home theater unit or DVR?
Is there intrusive advertising on this set, and if so, is there a way to turn it off without disabling the WiFi?

I find it absolutely reprehensible that manufacturers somehow think that this is ok.

Locate the source of the noise as best you can with your ear at various places. When you get it more or less narrowed down, go *immediately* to a store and turn a display on and off. Tell them that you've heard from a friend that it might happen on this set and you want to know if that's true before you buy. It's louder in stores, so listen as closely as you can.

NO idea if this relates to panels, so don't worry, but IME with electronics, small buzzing can sometimes be related to electronic components on their way out.

hey guys,

What is the best setting for watching football? I don't know about TV's but every time I watch I see the ball blurry when being throw. Thanks
post #2556 of 3652
Just registered my 47lm7600 with LG. Next is to get an extended warranty. Considering the on/off problems and someone reporting buzzing, that's incentive enough for me to get a 3yr plan. I've read a ton of threads and it seems there's a lot of varying opinions out there with the LG extended service plan vs. 3rd party warranties. I'm leaning toward the LG 3 year.

When starting the quote process online, there's a place to enter an invitation number if you have one. Anyone know if they send out special offers with better pricing if you wait for an invitation. I checked my email immediately after registering and they didn't send any special invitation.

Best I've been able to get is with True motion on low or medium
de-judder 6
de-blur 5
adjust to your liking

I noticed that these settings were more effective after calibrating with the cnet settings.

Also if you're watching football over cable such as Time Warner, consider the source. NFL football is notoriously horrible over what must be throttled cable signals on the big network channels. There's always artifacts, and PQ issues. If you can pick up the local broadcasts over the air, you might get a somewhat better signal.

One other thing we have going against us is... the NFL. They want people in the stands. So I suspect that often local market broadcasts are doled out at lower quality. I think they bump the quality up for the playoffs... yesterdays games looked excellent (but not fantastic) vs. what I saw for regular season and last week's wildcard games. Playoff time is a time when the local market isn't a factor anymore and a chance to get more people watching. The Superbowl signal will be spectacular and fantastic.

I guess the next few weeks of playoffs is when you'll have the chance to tweak your TV for the best football settings. But that assumes you've got the best possible signal. If the NFL really is a factor due to the "conspiracy" I mentioned above, here's hoping the networks bargain for better quality when they negotiate their next contracts with the NFL. Or if the breakdown is with cable companies, here's hoping that get's fixed. It's clearly a very real problem when I can tune into a college game and see it in perfect clarity, and the next day I tune into NFL and it's shamefully awful.

This is supremely aggravating! So I'm in Kmart today, and this budget 47" LG LED-LCD is on sale. $580.

http://www.kmart.com/lg-47inch-led-hdtv-47ls4500/p-012W004938657001P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1spin_prod_784764912?hei=600&wid=600&op_sharpen=1&qlt=90,0&resMode=sharp&op_usm=0.9,0.5,0,0
...and it was displaying a 2.35:1 movie (black bars top and bottom) and the bars were inky black with no flashlighting or clouding.

The image was certainly passable, and the super dark scenes did not squash everything to black making them unviewable like the Samsung I test drove did.

What's going on here?

I came close to getting a warranty when I got mine, but ended up not getting it. May have to rethink that now.

Same. I just registered mine and it said I can buy the warranty any time up until the manufacturer's warranty expires, which I believe is 1 year from purchase date. I marked my calendar for 11 months from now so I can think about buying it then.

I see there are more people with the rebooting issue now as well. Mine hasn't rebooted in a week. Since I initally reinstalled Plex. I'm not sure if I got the updated Plex but I've restarted it multiple times and can't get the tv to reboot again. I'm not really upset about it, but there is a LG tech coming out tomorow to look at it and possibly replace the power board. Not sure if I want him taking it apart if nothing is actually wrong with it. Any suggestions on what I should do?

That's a tough one. I'm tempted to say "call LG and tell them it was plex and not to bother". But in my weird world of bizarre coincidences, this will be precisely the time that I discover that the problem was actual two problems occurring at the same time and that the LG guy should have been there. Call me crazy, but this is what happens every time I go to the doctor as well. The thing I'm complaining about magically stops for the duration of the appointment. LOL!

Thought I would post an update on this.

(Just reminder, I have a 55LM8600 and use the LG TV Remote app on 2 Android 4.1.2 and 1 iOS 6.01 devices.)

I got a HDTV antenna today and I can confirm the app mirrors the TV's image and sound, but, with a 2-3 seconds delay and a lower image quality.

The TV scanned for channels and found 67!
It was only to test, I'll prob. never use the TV in broadcast TV mode.
My FiOS monthly price is the same whether I get internet only or internet + TV.
For the ones out there where the pricing is different, I would strongly suggest you explore of replacing the set-top box with an HTDV Antenna and save hundreds/ year.

The app ought to support any source on the TV.
Will leave feedback in the App Store and Google Play Store. Please everyone do the same.

When you see him, please ask him how to label the HDMI input manually other than choosing from the labels in the Settings.

For instance, I want to call HDMI 1 "Canon/ GoPro", HDMI 2 "Apple TV" and HDMI 4 "PS3".

LG's Tech Support on the phone says, it can't be done. But my Verizon (Motorola) FiOS set-top box label HDMI 3 automatically: Verizon FiOS. So it is possible.

I'd let him take a look. Just explain to him the situation. It can't hurt to have him look and see if there are any issues going on with the power board. There might be something else going on that hasn't reared it's ugly head yet.

That is exactly the reason I haven't canceled yet. I know it will start again as soon as I cancel. Hope he'll be here soon. I'm just going to explain what was happening and see what he wants to do.

Hi, does anyone know how create tree structure playlist?

For example, if I want to create something like this:
Code:

Documentary
                        |- National Geographic
                        |- BBC series
                        |- Discovery HD
Cartoon
                        |- 4 years old
                                                 |- mickey mouse
                                                 |- MLP
                        |- 7 years old
                                                 |- unknown
TV Series
                        |- ABC
                                                 |- Lost

Also using youtube app to play my playlist, it always plays from the fist video, is there a way for me to choose which one to play?

thanks

Is there a way to check the number of hours of usage on this TV?

Appreciate if someone could answer this again. Thanks

I took off the back panel and there were several blown capacitors on the power board. Hope they didn't start using cheap capacitors again on the 7600s. That problem SHUCKS. And if the repair guy gives you the same quality power board, the problem will likely creep up again.

Anyone else getting this problem please comment.

I don't use the wifi. Wired connection. I disconnected all cables during my testing and it was still happening.

Watched Happy Feet Two 3D with the kids. The 3D for this film is only moderately better than the 7600's built-in 2D to 3D in Cinema mode. Can't really get anything jumping off the screen. All the 3D effects are recessed... like looking through a picture window. Wonder if most bluray 3D films are going to be like this. We did also watch Finding Nemo last week, which was very good and the 3D had full range in front of screen and 'into' it. Still the shots that were supposed to be truly in your face were not really right there in front of your face. I tried playing with the 3D settings and though things are definitely jumping off the screen, they aren't really in your face like they can do in theaters.

From what I have read most directors are using the 3D effect in a more subtle way, opting for depth "behind the window", rather than it being in your face. If you want 3D with lots of "in front of the window" effects try Imax Under the Sea, or Legend of the Guardians.

That might make it worse, depending upon what it thinks it's doing. I'm assuming there is a way to disable *all* network traffic (WiFi/Cat5/carrier pigeon) in the settings, correct?

Tried various 3D settings/modes. Nothing has made me (or my kids) want to duck my head yet, but I've only watched a few 3D films so far. Finding Nemo so far has had the best 3D effects.
