Let me know if your 7600 has similar spot on top corners...

yes, that little dot is normal...im assuming that is the ambient light sensor for the energy saver mode.

Yes you are right....screen should be at eye level...but I wanted to keep tv away from my son's hot wheels car (or toys) trajectory biggrin.gif
we have an open kitchen layout and so keeping tv on top of the refrigerator is not an issue......I think PQ has not changed overall by watching it from a distance...
for night time movie watching I use my projector....

What the heck is PQ? I see it in a number of posts here.
Is that some US way of saying pic ( picture ) ?
Makes no sense...P and Q...sound nothing like pic or picture....rant over.

Presently still have 04.31.30

Hopefully I don't get the .31 dud ( I have auto update on )

And yes...Televisions should not be too high. Above fireplaces and such is just stupid. It may be "Fasionable"...but just wrong.
A TV stand of no higher than 22" is ideal for this 55"

"Picture Quality" = "PQ"

I seem to stand alone in this, but I think that TV's above the fireplace look completely tacky. A fireplace is a quaint idea---a romantic and picturesque throwback to old. A flat screen TV above that? We'll soon look back on this with the same chuckle we now do toward other out-of-vogue ideas like people walking around with bluetooth ear pieces just in case they get a call, people walking around with the radio they pulled out of their car, and big-hair bands dressed up in something close to women's clothing.

I had to google that to know the reference. I'm guessing Vern Yip wouldn't like TV's over fireplaces either, given the decorating suggestions I found, but I don't know.

Do any manufacturers allow custom labels for inputs? Why isn't this feature standard?

some do, some dont, depends on the tv....check the the tvs spec sheet.
features generally are used to bolster a certain models price so arent always standard across all models if they can use it to up-sell you another model higher.

***UPDATE ON MY REPAIR

The Service Center that will be repairing my TV just told me over the phone that they still do not have an ETA on the replacement panel for the television and suggested i call LG again to ask then whats going on with the order.

I called LG a minute ago and they confirmed that the replacement panel is NOT available so they shipped out a "Sub Part" today that "Should also fix the problems on your TV" ... it was explained to me that when an OEM part is not available they have a list of secondary parts they can ship out in their place to fix things.

Uhhhh am i getting some lower end crappier panel put into my brand new TV?

I just called the Service Center and they said they have no idea if that is the case or not and that i have to take it up with LG if i want more specifics on the replacement panel i'm receiving.

Does anyone here have experience with this? I'm worried now... haha

Also,

I occassionally use my 7600 to stream xvid videos from my PC to TV and it works great... but last night i was tinkering around in the settings and i hit erase history of recently watched and recently added.

Then i backed out and discovered that a ton of videos aren't showing up in my list now... all the recent stuff. hahahah Crap!

Is there a way to rebuild the library so i can see all videos again?

How are you streaming from the PC to the TV? Wired or wifi? I'm just curious as I'd like to try
post #2652 of 3596
A sub part means they are replacing the actual part that is most likely giving the problem rather then replacing the whole panel. The reason they don't usually do that anymore is it's a guess as to what the problem is, or it can be more than one part giving the problem, where simply replacing the panel addresses most anything that was wrong. The panel then would get back and it's there where they fix the one sub part. It has nothing whatsover do to with it being inferior.

I stream it wirelessly from PC to TV and it works great... i had my sharing settings all turned on in windows media center or whatever already because i was also streaming wirelessly to my xbox 360 before i got this TV. You may need to change some settings on your PC first. Then it should be listed in your input options list.

Ok sweet good to know... was worried for a second haha

Since my problem is a lightbleed issue and affects more than just the outer edges i'm curious to see what part they are sending to fix this...

If the sub part doesnt fix the issue then they go to a full panel replacement?

Does anybody know if I do a factory reset on this TV, will I lose my isf day and night modes. I'm having issues streaming to my TV through wired ethernet and I don't want to lose my calibration.

A bias lighting kit for LCD would not be dependent on what brand of TV.......

Very doubtful a factory reset would help. I would look elsewhere for the problem starting with the router though you didn't say what kind of problems you are having.

The problem I'm having is trying to access my nas drive. It's a western digital mybooklive using Twonky. It works fine with everything else instantly but when I try to use it on the tv it takes really long. Sometimes it just locks the tv up. I can actually beam it to the tv wireless using my phone with no problems either. From what I've tried it seemed to work better on wireless then wired.

It can. They can spray light slightly differently, and with a set that can be mounted as close to the wall as this one, it might make a difference. Further, some models (like many Panasonics) have a clear border all around the device. Depending upon the bias lighting, this can cause a halo "glow". The LM8600 has one on the bottom bezel. BTW, verification: the 7600 doesn't have any all, correct?

I posted another thread here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1453550/lg-55lm7600-important-calibration-question

But figured I'd try here as well.

I'm shocked this hasn't come up in any posts yet, but does anyone know how to adjust PQ on apps/streaming content?
As far as I can tell, you can't... which would make all those apps and streaming options useless to me... and might just be grounds for returning the unit. The default setting looks like it's somewhere in the neighborhood of "vivid" with tru motion and all those other silly settings on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of files are you playing? I have a Mybook World Edition running twonky (wired connection) and sometimes the TV takes a bit of time to buffer 1080p mvk videos. 720p video play instantly though. There is no good reason why wireless would perform better than wired, is there?

"Terms of Service Agreement" Keeps Popping Up"

I need anyone's help, desperately.

All of a sudden, every single time I turn on the tv (47LM7600) and go to the "tv mode" as opposed to an input, I see the following pop up notification, "Terms of Service has changed to provide better services. To enjoy LG Smart TV services, you are required to agree with new Terms of Service". So, I click on the "OK" option which then launches the "Terms & Condition (Service)" agreement which is 27 pages. Then, I click on the "Agree" choice at the bottom and then the tv goes to the normal screen. But, it's doing this "every" time I turn on the tv. Any advice? I emailed an LG tech who responded stating he never heard of this problem and would look into it. But, I'm doubtful of a quick response.

Thanks,

Steve

I have yet to find any way to adjust Netflix...which is very annoying. I can use my Bluray player to run Netflix and then I can adjust the video setting for that input, but that is a stupid resolution.

47" or 55", 55" still shows 1499...

Yes, a factory reset will wipe out your custom picture settings.

(Note - I use the regular LG remote not the magic remote, I would guess going to My Apps in the magic remote will do the same thing)

It has been discussed and answered several times. Here is one from a quick search.

I'm streaming mkv files but it's not the playback that is slow. It's the navigation of folders on the tv itself. It takes almost a minute to get from one folder to the next. However out doesn't do it on my ps3 or android phone.
