I called LG and made them put on my file that the issue persists but that i wish to give it 2-4 weeks to allow the issue to correct itself and that if it is still there i will be calling in for another service request.

I had a power supply issue on an LG TV years ago (model 42LB1DR,or something like that, purchased new). Anyway, after 3-4 times of the technician coming to my house, LG arranged for me to get a whole new TV. Isn't there some sort of lemon law where you could basically complain? It's an awful lot of trouble for you as a consumer to keep having to have a technician coming over with no luck fixing the problem. This may not be the answer, but I thought I'd mention my experience.

I dunno i think the lemon law may only apply to vehicles in California?

LG probably just sick to death of repair technicians thinking they can get away with the "replace and hope" style of repair.

Hey everyone. Wow this is a decently long thread biggrin.gif

This past Saturday, I purchased the 47LM7600 from Best Buy. I did about a week of reviewing all of my options for a new TV beforehand, demoed some sets, figured out I wasn't going to do a plasma (I'm a huge gamer, and I know everyone says burn-in isn't an issue anymore, but I'm superstitious, and besides, I like gaming and watching TV in a brightly-lit environment anyways), so I decided this LG was perfect. Best Buy price matched my local Fry's at $849, and now I'm just waiting for the store to receive it from the warehouse, which should be either tomorrow or Thursday.

I'm coming from a 40 inch Samsung 1080p LCD, model LN-T4066F, that I bought for almost double the price at the end of 2008. I was happy with it for awhile, but about 2 years ago I started to notice some very bad color banding in my PS3 games and some TV/Blu Ray content (extremely apparent on the PS3 home screen, which showed roughly 15-20 different color bands). No setting I messed with on TV has alleviated it, although I admit I'm not too savvy with picture settings. A couple of months ago, the set started to take a very long time to come on, would randomly power cycle, and would sometimes display a pinkish-purple series of dots/static. I looked it up and found this was a big cap issue, and I actually have a free tech service scheduled at the end of the week to replace the caps.

I used this as an opportunity to buy the LG for my media room, since the Samsung once repaired will be replacing a 32 inch Sony in the Living Room.

I've read most of the thread, and I don't really have much in the way of questions as of yet. Maybe one, but it's more subjective than anything else. How much better should I expect the quality of the picture on the LG? Will it only look like a modest upgrade from the Samsung, or will I be blown away coming from a 40 inch LCD from 2008?

Thank you for everyone who has shared their knowledge in this thread.

ARG!

Is anyone else supremely frustrated that so many people can get insanely low prices like this??????
Thanks for everyone's suggestions, but you are missing the point.
Even if I didn't have a router at all, the TV should perform a SSID detection, and even when that failed, allow me to manually enter the SSID of a hidden network.
Well, that's not happening.
The TV gets stuck looping back and forth between two screens that do nothing.
It seems like the TV is now oblivious of it having built-in Wi-Fi.

Sorry! If it makes you feel better, I totally missed out on the $799 + Blu Ray Player + 6 Additional 3D Glasses that happened back in August. *shrug*

Actually I do feel better for a different reason. I jumped the gun. I see LM7600 and assume it's 55". My mistake. But there have been a lot of far lower prices than I'm ever able to find. At least for the TV's I'm interested in. :-/

I went from a 40" Sony Bravia that was apparently top of the line when it came out. Several years old now. I think you're going to be very pleasently surprised at how good the LG looks with high def content.

Have logged into my youtube account. Unlike other selection boxes, clicking my ' favorites ' box, starts to play videos under my favorites, instead of giving me a sub menu of the videos to select the one I want to see. I have to click the >I icon to see the next video. I was expecting the videos under my favorites to be listed, like they are under other selection boxes.
Anyone else has this problem? Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Thanks

edit:: just noticed that the sub sub-selection option is only available under 'discover channels'. It is not available under 'my youtube' or 'featured'

adjust to your liking

I noticed that these settings were more effective after calibrating with the cnet settings.

I recently purchased a 47LM7600 and I'm having horrible judder when watching live sports, particularly golf and hockey. I have played with the cnet settings and had TruMotion off.

My cable is IPTV (Telus) and the signal is 720p.

I had a 5 year old Samsung 40" LCD and never noticed the judder.

I've scanned the thread and these are the most relevant posts/fixes I could find.

Am I stuck with this PQ?

In order to save photos to your camera roll, you need to allow photo permissions to the app. Go to settings > Privacy > Photos and make sure its on for the LG app.

While in the app. Click Capture and it will automatically save to your camera roll.

Ya, Most people see a pop up and deny it right away, then you're stuck. I only figured it out because it worked on my iPad and not on my iPhone.
Speak about the iOS app. There was an update that allowed you to search your content via your phone. When you put it demo mode, you see how its supposed work. But it doesn't show up when in regular mode. :/

Thoughts?

For anyone wondering if you'd end up with a better panel via having a warranty swap performed... the answer in my experience as least is NO. The first day the tech swapped out the panel it didn't look TOO bad... i could tell it was still messed the the light was just bleeding in different places now. But over the course of this week the panel has most definitely gotten worse and the light bleed is creeping in towards the center of the screen. I'm wondering if i should even bother calling in another panel swap with LG.

First, I suggest not to "Play" with the CNET settings if the purpose is to overcome Judder. Nothing in those settings has anything to do with motion. Second, your problem is exactly what you wrote, you have Trumotion off. Just turn it on to smooth or clear. I have virtually no judder whatsover. Just be aware some films especially foreign intentionally do not use a smooth panning motion, and it may not be judder in a movie in those instances.

I purchased the 55" version of this amazing TV and love it! I've tried skimming through this thread and haven't been able to come up with a good answer yet. I am trying to access the EZ_Menu using the LG-Commander python script. I Am able to connect to my lm7600 on the same network but none of the codes I enter have granted me access to the EZ_Menu!! I don't have an IR remote otherwise I would have gone that route. I have a North American LM7600 and am wanting to activate the PersonalVideoRecorder option that is enabled by default for sets sold outside of North America.

Does anyone here have experience using the LGcommander python script? or with activating the PVR/"Time Machine" function on their LM7600?

Much appreciated in advance!

1. The Python script does not work with this and other new generation LG TV's. As posted the purchase of a very inexpensive remote, or a Harmony remote will get you there.

2. You can use/turn on the Personal Video Recorder function, or any greyed out function even with access to the service menus.

Whoa. Is he actually referring to Judder, or to display motion blur?

Judder, (or Telecine Judder) has to do with the pulldown and is more apparent during slow panning, and is not the motion jerkiness inherent in non-interpolative video of faster moving objects.

Appreciate the response Tampa8. I'll check the wiki and grab a compliant remote from radioshack on the way home.

I just realized I have a UVERSE remote that is programmable. Does anyone know if I could use this to access the EZ menu? I was reading through the OPENLG wiki but wasn't able to gleam an answer. I was planning on grabbing a universal remote from radioshack or best buy otherwise. If the UVERSE remote wouldn't work can someone recommend a Universal remote that you would consider "best" or that is confirmed to work! Sorry for being such a noob.

I can only answer what is asked. Since he was specific, that's the correct answer for that question. smile.gif

It's motion jerkiness seen when watching live sports like golf or hockey. It looks like the picture stutters as the player is swinging his club or as the ball is rolling on the green.

As I posted earlier the Harmony remote automatically has the command after adding the LG TV to it. If you are getting a universal remote anyway, that would be one solution. Much cheaper of course is one of the recommended RCA remotes.

I had tried the Python script early on, had a connection over Wifi/Router, etc.. but these TV's just do not communicate in the same way.
