So you can record the Superbowl? There is nothing getting to the service menus will do to get to recording anything unless you are outside the US and using a non US version of the TV.
Sorry I was under the impression that I could turn on the PVR(Time Machine) in the service menu even on North American versions of this TV. I guess I read that wrong!
That feature is not available for us. In fact getting you into the service menu's does not allow for many changes, however there are a couple. Most items are greyed out and can not be changed with a remote by anyone, it takes a computer connected to the TV with the correct program.

this could be where the confusion came from: "can" used instead of "cant"

Gotcha! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Wow the prices on this thing are stubbornly being held high. I think they're trying to hold out right before the slide that happens when the new models trickle in from feb to apr.

I hope something happens, because Light Gray Friday was such a @#$%ing disappointment across the board.

so is there any way of enabling the DVR functionality on the 47LM7600 for US versions? If so can someone please explain how to do so. Thanks!
Thnx, Pwrwrap, did that. (It's better.) The three-point base is also too narrow at the rear and always lets the remote falls over...think I need an old hacky-sack (or small beanbag) to put under it on the coffee table so its not always falling on its side (and rolling onto the floor usually). I got a Hulu+ subscription free for 3-months (as opposed to the free week from my new ROKU (in the bedroom) and this LG TV for Hulu)...but I am still wondering if it's possible to get Amazon Prime on the 2012 47LM7600? Anybody got a clear, concise process/method to get this? Isn't it supposed to be coming form LG on a S/W update?
Actually sometime over the last week I see I got another update to the Amazon App a slightly different look to it. It and Vudu are the apps I use the most by far.

Hi, I just purchased this set a few days ago and so for it's been great. There is one thing that irks me and I am hoping it's just a setting that I can change but have yet to find. I would like the TV to default to the app screen if no HDMI device is powered up. Is there a way I can do this?
Harmony remote. The set itself can not, but it's one simple push of a button after power.... smile.gif

There's are *lot* of things that could so easily be managed if TV's followed a 3rd party addon model, like Firefox and the like.

Maybe I could get used to the glare...but it's gonna be in a fairly bright room with daylight during the day and lights at night. Thoughts?

It's pretty damned reflective. If that's going to bug you and you don't have a way to close window curtains/blinds, re-angle lights or have a spot you can place it in which doesn't get hit by either of those it might not be the best choice for you. I haven't seen the Sony you're referring to. My living room gets a lot of ambient light from 2 very tall windows and 2 doors with windows in them and I have relatively sheer curtains so watching anything dark on it during th day is kind of useless, but at night I use two specifically angled lamps rather than the overhead and that works fine or I can just turn the lamps off. For day time use, I can angle it toward the love seat rather than the sofa and it gets less reflection that way but the love seat is too small to stretch out on obviously. I don't regret buying it at all and would have gotten it even knowing this ahead of time but I don't watch much if anything during the day and if I do I'm usually multitasking so not paying much attention to the visuals anyway. This might not work for your needs, though.

I haven't seen it next to that Sony, but my friend has that Sony and from what I remember, they're both pretty reflective.

My solution to the reflection problem was to mount the TV on a tilt mount and angle it slightly downward. I have a wall of windows to the side of the TV, and spotlights on the wall behind where I sit, and tilting the TV downward minimizes the reflection I see of both of them.

Just bought a 55LM7600, hope it is all it is supposed be cracked up to be. Got a fairly good dead 1299.00 with a free Energy sound bar I don't need. Waiting a custom cart to match my entertainment center. Will be a few weeks till that is done. I am replacing my 11 year old rptv Mitsu. Pictures to follow.

Ok I am a novice at these things. So please be kind.

I tried going through the thread..but may have missed crucial information. After all this is now over 90 pages!

I am trying to look up how to install Amazon app on the LM7600. The link I found talks about setting some server settings.

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1399636/official-lg-xxlm7600-owners-thread/2430#post_22797125

I am not seeing the option on my screen how to access and change those settings. Which one is the 'start menu'?

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks

To access the In-Start menu , you have to access the hidden service menu. Details for that can be found here:

What is this Amazon application I keep hearing about? What does it do?
The same as it is anywhere, on a Roku or your Smartphone etc... If you already have a Roku you might not need it on the TV. Being a Prime member I use it all the time.

With the TV doing a quick shutdown then turn on by it self once in a while. I think it's the apps updating, I was able to see my [Service Menu] and it says in the Power status every time I shut off the TV and when it did it on it's own it says "off by no polling" what does off by no polling mean?

Thanks thx1138

I was able to successfully do the hack and get amazon. However lost all the other 'pages' like 3D World and LG Smart world !
Had to do Initial setup again to get everything back...but again lost the Amazon app.

Anyone has the amazon with all the other 'pages'?

Looks like Amazon might be gone now. Redbox is on both of the QA servers. I am on a 6200 though.
NOT gone on my 7600. Every so often the Icon disappears, always has, but you can still click it and watch Amazon videos.

Amazon might have been disallowed from the standard release because I believe it is an unpredictable CPU hog. Them and HBOGO seem to really make these absurd demands upon my system, and I think it has to do with the continual decryption it's using for DRM. Not sure.

But whenever I think of TV's with more and more "smarts" in them, the more I'm just begging for a stripped down large "raw" monitor, and have everything (including interpolation) handled externally.
I can only tell you Amazon works flawlessly on my 7600, same a Vudu. Only Youtube every once in awhile seems to momentarily freeze, but haven't seen that in awhile.

To answer another post, yes I have everything and Amazon because the instructions being followed are not what my settings are...... As previously discussed due to people possibly bricking their TV if they don't or can't follow the instructions I do not want to post the procedure. (And it's possible someone's TV has different settings for whatever reason)
The menu on amazon was little laggy at first, but a new interface came a week or two ago and it worked great. The video always worked great. I'm going to play around and see if I can get it back. The redbox app that replaced it won't run and it says an update is required. Maybe a new firmware incoming.
