First post for me, but I have been following all things lw5600 lm7600 for months. I had the 55lw5600, loved it for TV/blueray, wanted to smash it for use with my xbox.
anyhow, I also placed an online order for this TV, at the 1615 price. Was waiting for an email cancelling my order (was going to take my order confirmation into best buy and get a price match, I love their warranty plans). I printed everything I could as proof and headed into the store, here is what happened at best buy
BB "welcome to best buy can I help you?"
Me - yes you can. I just bought a TV at sears for a lower price than you carry, and would like to get a price match and buy it from you instead.
BB (confused) - you want to do what?
me - I want to buy the TV from you, because I like your warranty service. They just sold it to me for cheaper than you sell it, will you price match it?
BB - Ah, I dont think we can price match it, they offered it cheaper than us (disbelievingly).
Me - yes significantly, they sell it for 1615 plus tax.
BB - no they dont.......(long pause as I stare at them)
ME - Ah, yes they do, and here is my reciept. Lets go to sears.com and you can see it too.
BB - we are not allowed to price match that price, its lower than theprice we are allowed to sell it at
ME- what price will you price match to?
ME - Thats not a price match, thats your advertised price.......
BB - thats the lowest LG will allow us to sell it.
Me - So then you dont price match sears
BB - no we do
ME - So do it
BB - We are not allowed
ME - So you dont price match?
BB - (stares at me and says nothing)
ME - well that was a waste of my time. I was going to buy your 4 year warranty, but I guess you dont want to make a sale.
BB - (stares at me and says nothing)
THen I get out to my truck and see that Sears called and left a message. I check the message, it says they need to speak with me about my order. Not looking good. I call them back, and they just wanted to verify my info since this was a large and oversized item. A few questions and they send me an email confirmation.
I take my confirmation and call sears, asking if I can just pick it up locally, instead of having it delivered (I have bad back, delivery is always my first choice, but im afraid to give them time to reconsider this deal). They tell me that no sears within about 300 miles has the TV in stock. They say it will be about 2 weeks till they get new inventory, maybe sooner.
I asked them about the price, what BB said, and if they are allowed to cancel my order after I get an email confirmation with order confirmation number.....They said I am GUARANTEED to get the TV at the 1615 price, no ifs ands or buts. They also assured me that if it takes longer than the time they told me it would take to get the TV, they start knocking a fixed % off the purchase price due to the inconvienence. Awesome
So, thats where the sears order stands for me. I did find the 55lm7600 at a store about an hour or so from me, im going to try and see if I can pick that up in lieu of getting it delivered, so I will let you know.
this tv is replacing the 50 inch panasonic I just bought. Its like a 50ux50 or something. Terrible TV. Im getting bleed across the whole screen whenever Text from credits or whatever is on screen. Like the text is messing up the contrast to the right and left of the text, all the way to the edge. The tv is 240hz, yet is so not. The image is not smooth, and turning on their motion smoother (low med or high setting) while smoothing it out a little (lg does it better) makes it real jerky. real jerky. Its a plasma that performs like a super low end lcd. panny should know better than to sell that pos.
well, here is hoping this sears deal doesnt blow up in my face, but they assured me that i am guarunteed the TV at that price, even if it doubles tomorrow.
