So i just got a 55lm7600 2 weeks ago. Have been messing with it, and here are the issues I see. I had a lw6500 before this that i can compare to. I already downloaded the newest firmware on it.
Flash-lighting obviously present. As stated earlier by others, its not an issue with the panel, its just the way the tv is assembled. Once its out of warranty, i'll probably open it up and re-torque the screws to relieve the pressure points on the outside edges. Only really visible in a dark room, or when watching a widescreen movie.
The aspect ratio setting needs more options. I had an old samsung and a philips that both had options to force full screen by stretching the picture to fill the screen, or a smart full screen, which stretched the image a little, while cropping a little from the sides. LG really needs to add something like this. The zoom aspect ratio is useless, because it crops too much out. I dont mind a little bit of a stretched look. The philips which is probably a 5 year old model now, even did automatic resizing based on content. It could detect black areas around images and enlarged the picture to fill the screen instantly. I dont see why a smart tv in 2012 doesnt do this. I never had to change aspect ratio settings for different content on the philips.
The Youtube app sucks. Search only shows about 20 results max, and stutters when starting off playing for about 10-15 seconds. Not a connection issue as it buffers fine and is hard-wired. Another youtube app problem has to do with letterboxing. Some videos will have black bars forced on them by the TV. When you open the tv's setting menu, the black bars go away, showing a full screen behind the settings box, but once you exit out of the settings box, the black bars appear again. Probably a glitch in the tv, needs firmware update (Hello LG!) The old youtube app in the lw6500 never had any problems.
Full HD videos from youtube stutter, and dont play smoothly like they would on the lw6500 either.
TV freezes up alot more than my lw6500 used to. Sometimes freezes when bringing up apps or even the smart menu. Resetting the TV, and initializing the Apps fixes this for a couple of days, but then it starts doing it again. LG knows their platform is buggy, even in the menu for reinitializing the apps, the description says something like use this if the apps stop responding.
Another major annoyance is that the fast-forward and rewind dont work anymore on video files streaming through network or on USB. This always used to work on the LW6500. (Firmware update needed) This doesnt even work on videos played from the 3D world app, which used to work fine on the LW6500. Has LG completely removed the ability to ff/rw on this tv? So the only option is to jump a couple of minutes ahead or backwards and spend forever trying to find something.
The true-motion sometimes produces jittering during certain panning or movement. This was in the LW6500 too, and I had hoped they would have fixed or improved upon this on the newer model.
Other than the premium apps that are already installed, The downloadable APPS on these LG smart tv's are absolutely useless. For example "how to tie a tie" app. Seriously LG??? I doubt anyone will start making any real apps for LG tv's anytime soon, so I try to use plex for my app needs.
& What is the deal with K-pop app. Did they really think people around the world need this? And they dont even let us delete this from the TV or the quick app menu at the bottom. LG is forcing Korean pop music on all of us.
one last annoying thing is the channel browser which lets us input channel numbers using the motion-remote. Since LG decided to not include a standard remote, they decided to make inputting channel numbers harder too. In the LW6500, all you had to do is shake the wand to bring the cursor, and move it to the left side of the screen and the keypad slides out. But with the lm8600, after you shake the want, you have to go to navigate the cursor to the top right corner and click the little remote button, then move all the way to the bottom left to access the number pad. What was wrong with the old and simple system LG ?
what is the point of the ISF Expert settings when I cannot select them when playing video files or when watching video from any of the Apps ? Another thing that needs a firmware fix.
but other than these problems, overall the TV is pretty nice. I really like the upgraded styling and new interface. But with all the issues mentioned, I think coming from a lw6500, this lm7600 seems somewhat of a downgrade, unless they fix all the issues with a firmware update. I am hoping that LG is working on refining the software on this TV, rather than trying to come up with flashy things for the next model for 2013 which will again be an incomplete product sold to the public. Sometimes i wish I had stayed with the lw6500... Anyone with a lw6500 want to trade for a new lm7600 ?
