Father in law

My father in law is coming from a 60" DLP projection XBR Sony and after 4.5 years it is giving him problems again. I am trying to convince him to get a TC-P55ST30. He also has a high end LG 46" in the basement (great whites and lots of pop).

Is that a good choice for a set? Any ideas on a LCD \\ LED \\ Plasma for less then 1K that would be comparible?

Why only 1k when he spent so much on that xbr. And why such a big size drop that will lead to disappointment for sure. 2K can pick up a 65gt or st30.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like its gonna cost 1K to get it fixed, so he has had enough. As for size I agree but he says smaller will be better for them now.

Guess he wants to spend what it would cost to replace. Would he be happy with he st30 series considering it is the same panel as the gt30?

I told him thAt here are sweet deals right now. I think he is bummed he only got a little over 4 years on the Sony, but it wasn't the first issue.
