Hello,
I'm looking for a way to control my HTPC using my programmable Onkyo remote (with remote learning).
I was hoping I could buy a basic IR receiver like this: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-OVU412...dp/B004Z4TXKK/. If that came with a remote, my Onkyo remote could learn the codes to control the IR receiver. But it doesn't - so is there anyway to make my remote compatible with it? I could set the remote to one of the pre-programmed devices (list here: http://63.148.251.135/redirect_servi...SvCtCs_web.pdf
), but would any of those work with this IR receiver? In general, what can you use to control remote-less IR receivers like that?
If that isn't an option, I imagine I could get an IR receiver that is itself programmable. Then (I think) I can just set my Onkyo remote to some arbitrary device so that the IR receiver can learn those codes. But I don't see many options for something like this; the only thing I've found is the USB-UIRT (http://www.usbuirt.com/), which is relatively expensive. Are there any similar, cheaper choices? For this price, I might as well just buy a Harmony 650 to replace my Onkyo remote.
Any suggestions? Or are there any simpler/cheaper options I've overlooked? I already have a USB DiNovo Mini for the HTPC, but I'd really like to be able to use a single remote that can control my Onkyo receiver/TV/HTPC for basic functions.
