With so many American remakes films of foreign films, are there any American films that are remade that anyone knows of?
I'm just curious, because if there are any, I'd like to check them out and compare.

Right off the top of my head the recent "A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop", from Mainland China's Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Raise the Red Lantern) is a reworking of the Coen Brothers' 1984 "Blood Simple".

Nid De Guêpes (The Nest), a 2002 french film, is a remake of John Carpenter's Assault On Precint 13... It's not bad.

I've seen Assault on Prescient 13, and I liked it. I'll see if my place has The Nest.
It's good to know that it's not only Hollywood that remakes films.

Here are a few more:

"Groundhog Day" - Italian remake "Stork Day" (Italy does not have a 'Groundhog Day')

1978's "Fingers" - French 2005 remake "The Beat My Heart Skipped" (Great movie BTW).

"12 Angry Men" - Russian/Chechen remake "12"

"Sideways" - Japanese remake "Saidoweizu"

"Fight Club" - India remake "Fight Club: Members Only"
(India has done many remakes of Hollywood films: Man on Fire, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Memento, Weekend at Bernie's and Mrs. Doubtfire to name a few).

"The Longest Yard" - British remake "Mean Machine".

It's not just limited to the US and other countries. Remember Yojimbo/A Fist Full of Dollars? Japan to Italy.

I know, that's why I said "It's not just limited to the US and other countries." I was making the connection that it happens all over the place. Just making an observation.

India did their version of Reservoir Dogs called Kaante. They also remade The Italian Job which was titled Players.

2008: China/HK remake Cellular into Connected. This was China's first remake of an American film. This started the whole Asia remaking American film wave.
2008: South Korea remake Phone Booth, the remake title was Cell Phone.
2009: Zhang Yimou remake Coen's Brother, Blood Simple into A Simple Noodle Story.
2009: Japan released the horror film, Grotesque. Many fans have allegedly claim this film is a unofficial remake/rip-off of Hostel.
2010: China remake What Women Want.
2010: China remake High School Musical.
2010: Japan did a semi-sequel, semi-remake of Paranormal Activity. The Japanese sequel/remake was titled Paranormal Acitivty: Tokyo Night.
2010: Japan and Korea remake Ghost (a co-production between Japan and Korea).

Japan also did an anime series of "Supernaturals".

Has anyone seen "Saving Private Perez"?. Is it based on Saving Private Ryan?. I'll check too..it just came to mind.
Thanks to all. Perhaps Hollywood can afford to remake more films than anyone as it seems that's all I hear about.
