No sooner than when I've come to terms with my backlighting issues, now the TV will randomly "reboot" (shut off and back on immediately) whenever I'm using the internet apps. Is anyone else suffering from this? Could this be corrected via a software update?

And thats just what happened.

Almost a blessing in disguise. I fought tooth and nail to get them out to my place to see my backlighting issue to no avail, now the reboots occur and one phone call has a service tech scheduled to visit in the next 10 days. Amazing.

My 2007 KDL-40V3000 is the best TV I've ever owned. I wish I could just increase its size to 46 and use that in place of this HX750!

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 55HX750 and the 55HX751

Leaning towards getting this tv at Sam's Club but it's the HX751....what would be the reason for the different model number?

I just got this TV yesterday. Can someone pleae post some calibratiion settings for a semi dark room? Just need a starting point as this tv seems to have endless picture settings. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx!

May just be a custom part number for Costco. I suggest you compare the listed specifications and and features of your 751 with those listed on Sony.com for the 750.

How is the 3D on this set ??

I have tries the ex720 and the 3d was very bad a lot of crosstalk and if i move my head the 3D effect is gone , im only thinking about this set because i found a good deal for the 55 set.

Should i pick it or wait es7500 price drop ??

Have you noticed any overdrive trailing while playing any games that feature a lot of dark scenes Deadspace, Uncharted series, Batman Arkham City, etc..... My experience with most newer LED/LCD displays have issue with trailing while panning in game camera causing black area to smear across the screen. This is not judder or intended motion blur, but pretty drastic smearing. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok have had tv about three months and up to now have loved it . I've had three occurrences were the volume would just go out and only way to get it back was to turn tv off for a couple seconds and turn it back on anyone else have this happen ??? Is it something I should be concerned about ???

Are you using the HX750's speakers?
What is your signal source?
Does it occur on all channels?
Does it occur when using A DVD/Blu-Ray?

Hi guys,sort of a newbie in the hdtv area.Live in Kenya where variety of tvs are limited.Am into PICTURE QUALITY ONLY and wud like to replace my LG 42PJ650.Hav narrowed down to either LG 47LM6610(around USD2400),Samsung UN46ES6200(around USD1700), Sony KDL 46HX750(USD1700) and LG 50PA6500(around 1200).Thanx guys in advance:)

My beloved 55nx720 just developed a black horizontal line on the panel and now i fear they will replace it with a hx750.

Are the blacks really as dark gray as the cnet review suggests?

"professional" reviews are a bit confusing on the mll numbers for this set...

Televisioninfo has .06 and Cnet has near .21 from memory

You only notice that it does not have deep black if the room is not lit. Under normal viewing with some light, the picture/black level is fine. If you are expecting to watch a movie with the lights off, the end credits scroll on a dark gray background.

I haven't bought a pair of 3D glasses yet, but it appears that the Sony Playstation 3D glasses may be the best option. They are universal with IR 3D active tvs, rechargeable, and minimizes crosstalk. The lowest price seen was only once at Best Buy at $39.99 in Jan..2012 The SONY 3D Active Glasses TDG-BR250 suffer from crosstalk, but you might be able to get a free polarizer filter from Sony according to my research. However, that Sony model only works with Sony TVs. It's difficult to tell if the generic 3D glasses are any good since there isn't many reviews. So, if you pay $30 and it has crosstalk, it might have been better to have paid for the pricier glasses.

Just got the 55'' unit as a replacement from Sony from my chronically borked EX720. I have to say, the HX750 is a huge improvement in all categories. Blacks are finally close to black now!

Think the user Gatorboi has the same issue.
In dark scenes I see the spotlight/flashlight coming from the bottom left corner.
I have 1.5 weeks left on the 30day return window (replacement program from Sony Listens).
I have not contacted them yet, figured I'd get some advice before proceeding.

UPDATE:
I change the SCENE from Cinema to Regular (or Normal) and the lighting issues seem to have gone away.

I went to the Sony store and checked out the HX750 they had on display. There were no lighting issues with that set so I went home and thought maybe its the SCENE setting. That seems to have fixed that issue.

Now I have the backlight at 6 and the tv displays a lot less clouding and minimal flashlighting. Hoping it stays that way.

Interesting turn of events in my situation as well:

Sony calls me last Saturday and says that the part they were going to replace on my set that pertained to it rebooting randomly is on back order and they are now going to replace my set with a refurbished one that is the same model or better. I imagine the model will be the same, as this TV is only 4-5 months old on the market. I am fine with the refurbished set since everything I've read about people receiving them is that they are like new in every regard, and mine is coming with a 2 year warranty instead of the typical 90 day. So I anticipate the replacement set will not suffer from the same crazy ultra bright LEDs along the top of my current set and I will report back!

The wife and are considering picking up the 55" for a song via the optical block replacement program, so I am doing my research. I will be replacing a 60a2020 that does exhibit the optical block issue, but it is not as severe as some of the ones that people have posted on line. I went to Sony's website to do some research and found that they are throwing in the ps3 when you purchase this tv. I think I already know the answer to this question, but I figure I would throw it out there for you folks. Would my replacement come with a ps3? The rep I spoke to made no mention of this to me, however, the retail price for this tv she quoted me is the same as the price listed on their website, so I could make the argument that I should be entitled (I hate that word) to all of the current throw-ins. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Are you saying that Sony is charging you the retail price of the TV or that the rep just quoted you the retail price? If you did get the TV through Sony's exchange program with the TV heavily discounted, then NO, the PS3 will not be included. I've asked previously about earlier promotions when I exchanged my TV's and was told the promotions are only for retail customers.

They quoted me $750, but they said that the tv was worth $1900. My reasoning was that the $1900 price includes the ps3, I would be able to get it with the replacement + the ps3. I guess it can't hurt bringing it up, but I doubt that they would go for it.

Sorry for the late response , yes I'm using the hx750 speakers , I'm using my scientific Atlanta 8300HD cable box , it seems only to happen on that input haven't had it happen with my wdtv live , Xbox360 , ps3 or DVD player . When it happens I usually switch inputs for a minute or 2 or turn the set off then on after a minute and the sound comes back . I don't know if it's the cable box or the set itself ??? I'm worried it might be the set and later on down the line it might get worse . I never purchased insurance when I got the set as part of the replacement program in April .

Disconnect then reconnect both ends of the cable running from your cable box to television. Another test is to swap out the present cable. If these tests do not eliminate the issue I suggest you contact your cable carrier.
