A few comments,
I previously had a Sony KDL 32XBR4 which met an early untimely demise and I'm a bit disappointed, given the price, that the HX750 seems to be much more of a struggle to dial in. I have one of my key viewing locations which is about 35 degrees off axis and the set washes out severely off axis, especially with the CNET settings. I know this is a common LCD problem but I would like to know if the HX750 is worse than average or if I was just really lucky with the previous 32XBR4. On axis viewing with normal content can actually look pretty good but seems to lack punch (e.g. often softer, washed out look (CNET setting). I don't get the motion flow feature; short of watching TV in a pitch black room, motion flow quickly makes the picture too dim for useful viewing. I have about 1 more week to decide whether to keep the set or brace for a fight to try and return.
Below are the three settings I have played with. The first set represents the CNET values. The second set is my tweak from the CNET settings and the third are my tweaks from Vivid. I haven't played with the tweaked Vivid as much, but when doing a comparison between it and CNET Tweaked it is a toss up to me as to whether overdriven whites detail artifacts of Vivid are more disturbing that the soft, washed out look of CNET and CNET tweaked.

I have a few questions for the Sony experts here:
1) In the CNet settings they suggest Scene Select set to Cinema. What does this mean as the Picture mode was already specified to be set to custom? Does this mean that the Picture Adjust Menu should be configured for custom, then repeated configuration after the scene select is changed, or do they mean to set the scene select first to cinema and then set the settings in which case the Custom picture mode is not quite accurate?
2) I read earlier in the thread mention of a software update. I know optimizations of algorithms are possible to some degree, though there are clearly limits to tweaking for architectural and design deficiencies. Is there any precedent for Sony actually substantially optimizing video performance via software update?
3) When set to Vivid, the Advanced Settings menu is ghosted out. Does anyone know what Advance Settings options which corresponds to the Vivid setting?
