I just ordered a 46". I'm gonna return my Samsung UN40ES6100 tomorrow and pick up the HX750. Sucks about the .mkv playback through USB.

Lol no sorry i meant call of duty the xbox 360 game. I wanted to know how the lag felt on the HX750. Ive been playing on a D6000 as well as a small samsung 23" monitor. The monitor's input lag is non existent it seems.

I game on my PS3 daily on my 750 with all kinds of games. There is no lag in either game mode. Haven't tried any other modes, but both game modes are solid.

EDIT: I should clarify, there is no determinable lag that I can visual witness. All input seems instant.

haha seriously. I mean I like my new second 750 I received, and it's a nice set, but he has to be the only person on the planet to enjoy his as much as he does. More power to him.

I do believe I will be replacing this set again however, as it has now begun rebooting randomly like my first one did although the internet apps have been behaving better. 3 random reboots within the past week so far...

I'm still messing with the PQ settings. Does anyone know what the Advanced Settings under "Vivid" that cannot be adjusted?

I actually like the Vivid setting to an extent but want to find a happy medium between what I have set for Custom and Vivid. When I go to vivid it's like glasses have been removed from the screen.
When i go to my standard and custom setting t(hat I've set to most of the other reviews), it looks like I'm looking through a very faint set of sunglasses...then I go to Vivid and that's completely removed.

Anyone know if the advanced settings have something set in the vivid mode that I can apply to custom setting to give some more of that "pop" that vivid has? OR are those settings basically done some other way that Advanced settings aren't even applied it's something that is done in at the firmware level or something? Please advise.

I'd imagine the advance settings under Vivid would be the same ones under Custom, just grayed out when in Vivid mode. Throw your set into Custom and start playing around with those settings.

Also, you must have the brightest viewing room ever if you prefer the Vivid setting. I call it the show room floor setting because it is so ungodly bright and over saturated, but hey, to each their own!

Try this, set everything back to default, and only adjust Motionflow to "Clear" and see how that works for you as a setting.

Does the Reset only reset the current picture mode you have selected? I was a little reluctant to try this last night on my Custom mode as I didn't know if it would reset the other modes or not.

I don't like the FULL vivid mode... I'd like to achieve the Vivid mode in the custom setting and then back off that effect a little.

You may be better off constructing a Vivid mode of sorts beginning from a Custom mode, if that is your intention then. Starting from Vivid will, as you've previously stated, put up some road blocks along the way.

Resetting should reset ALL Picture settings you have in place. Remember, if you have different settings for different inputs, it will change only the setting in your Current Input back to default.

How is overdrive trailing on the set during gaming? I tried the EX640 and the trailing was awful in dark areas of a game like Deadspace. With every turn of the camera all the dark (shadow) areas of the screen will smear as though the pixel can't switch fast enough and are leaving a residual after image. Have had any issue with this on the HX750?

Yes I'm trying to achieve what vivid looks like in Custom.... but I don't know the advanced settings of Vivid mode as they are blocked. AND my current Custom settings are not that far off of what Vivid allows you to adjust so I'm stumped on what setting makes vivid so vibrant and bright when that mode is selected.

You know something gator you go through 3 peice of crap Samsung sets and have to live with an out of date Sony HDTV and you would understand why I am so enthusiastic about my HX750. I have had my tv since the 25th of September and I havent had 1 single issue.....not one. No backlight issues, no clouding issues, no internet issues, no anything. Its been perfect so yes I can say from experience with the HX750 its one of Sonys best tv's to date. But I wont say another word about how good it is because I think I have said enough. But if someone asks my opinion I will gladley give it. That being said.......................As for gaming on the HX750? I have only got to see my tv in action when my freind brought his PS3 over and the gaming experience was excellent so much so that I hopefully will get a PS3 at the end of the year.

has anyone experienced banding/streaking/dse on this tv?
it basically is when the camera pans side to side and you can see different darkness/lightness bars or streaks (i think due to uniformity issue)
a good way is watching sports or playing fifa 13

Yes, many people experienced it. In this thread, most notably gator and me. Gator received a new, dse free tv set. I tried the same. The first replacement panel was broken and the second one had clouding AND dse , so I'm currently waiting for my third, but I've almost no hope anymore~

Regarding the clouding issues: Clouding became worse and then I mailed some pictures to Sony. They immediatly called me back and told me that a new panel (the third...) is on its way. Hurray to Sony customer support. I'm just afraid they are helpless against LCD plague (dse, clouding).

Damn clancy that is bad! Hopefully they can get this problem fixed for you once and for all. That being said......did the stand your tv's sitting on in that pic come with your tv? Mine came with the standard swivel stand but I sure would love the one you have instead. I asked Sony Customer Service about it but they said those only came with the sets sold overseas frown.gif. If you ever want to sell the stand let me know. Again hope the issue your having with your tv gets taken care of soon buddy.

I returned my Samsung 40ES6100 yesterday and picked up my new Sony 46HX750 and free soundbar. The new Sony is really nice, but picture quality seems a little off. It might be from the increase in screen size. I'm going to try some of the setting I found here later on tonight. Using standard settings I don't notice any flash lighting, clouding, or motion blur like on my Samsung. Lowering the backlight on my Samsung would help with flash lighting, but you can still see it if you looked hard enough. Connecting to the internet was simple. The apps load a little slow and sometimes I get freezing when cycling through the menu. USB playback is not as good as the Samsung, but it's mainly due to file type. I'm using tsMuxer to convert my .mkv files. It only takes about a minute or less, so it's not to bad. It would be nice if it would play .avi files. 3D playback is something I want to try, but did not want to spend the extra money for the glasses. I'm getting about 65.00 in Reward Zone certificates from Best Buy for the purchase, so I'll wait til next month. Overall I'm happy and love the real estate on the 46". Hopefully with some adjustments I can get the picture quality I'm looking for.

Yep, it came with the set. It's about the only Sony TV sold over here with this stand, though. The other TVs all mount the normal stand. I had to get a new TV table (which you can see in the picture) because the old one wasn't broad enough. wink.gif

That being said, I'm not interested in switching it, sorry. Moreover, switching would be impractical. I don't even want to think about the costs of shipping something the size of this stand over to the New World. wink.gif

Well you guys are lucky then because I want that stand so bad. Oh well I plan on putting my tv back up on its mount that came with my entertainment center anyway. Making some changes to my HT with the arrival of my new AVR next week.

Walmart dont carry the HX750, Sears does in select stores or they can order it online. I know Best Buy carries them but again only in select stores. I got mine direct from Sony. But no matter where you get it make sure you check out their return policy like GTZ said.

I got mine from Best Buy after returning my Samsung within the 30 day window. All they asked if there was anything wrong and took the old set back and credited my account. I walked over to the pick up line and had my new set in about 5 minutes. I just checked their policy online for holiday purchases. Anything purchased from Nov 1st - Dec 24th has until Jan 31st for returns. I'm not sure if you need a gift receipt or not though. I did notice a lot of stores do not carry the set locally at least in the Los Angeles area. Most of them wanted to deliver, when I wanted to pick up same day. Luckily I was returning my Samsung to the same place that had it in stock.

I tried the HT Mag and a mix of steves settings in the thread and it makes a big difference. Both settings are pretty much the same, except for a few of them. I did change it to Warm 1 though. The soap opera effect is gone from standard, but sometimes I do like it. NBA games look a lot better from my Dish receiver. Bluray from PS3 has improved as well. The default Vivid settings made The Dark Knight look pretty bad. Standard was a little better. The new settings are the best. I still haven't tried any PS3 games or 3D yet. The only issue I'm having is it looks a little grainy and not as sharp. I'm having this issue with any setting or mode. It could be coming from my source material. Hopefully its not a bad set.

Holy crap I didnt even know Walmart carried them, shows you how much I know! lol. If your getting it from Walmart make sure you know their return policy and have it covered under warentee. I have have bought some electronics from them and wasnt to happy to put it lightly.
