I have a used i1pro and new i1D2.
I am beginning to suspect the
i1pro. It passed all the xrite diag program.
Anyway, I have been chasing settings using the i1pro. I don't trust the D2 calibrated with the i1Pro.
In HCFR there is a near black measure. I put the D2 on a black surface and ran the 5 readings. all 5 were identical. They showed 0 ftl and cd.
they did report .375 for red and .250 for blue and 0 for green. Interesting, so I ran the i1pro and every reading of the 5 was different. It also showed
.75 for red and .600 for blue and .200 for green and 0.0 for ftl and cd.

Does any of this make sense?
should I use offsets to get the D2 to show 0 colors?
Why does the D2 report identical reads and the pro does not?

it's totally normal for an i1 Pro to be below it's functional range on near black readings.

The i1 D2 is usually right at it's limit with black, but it's reporting 0 back, then it's probably out of range as well.

Your TV at black apparently is too dark to measure with your hardware.

so the i1pro will act like that? I did not put the meters on the TV. I left them on a black surface, 0.0
With absolutely no light, the D2
gave me x= .360 y=.250
Y= 0.0
Can I edit the tables to get
x= 0 y=0 ?
would that properly calibrate the D2?

technically x,y are undefined for total black.

XYZ is what the meter reads.

x = X / (X+Y+Z)
y = Y / (X+Z+Z)

if X +Y + Z = 0, well then you've got a divide by 0 error.

If they are all small but equal you'll get the equal enegry point or point E, 0.333,0.333

All the xyY data is a measurement of light.

black is an absence of light, you can't have color without light.
