Any more updates on the AV8801? I'm eager to get on... Believe it or not, but I already have my 9.2 setup ready; just need to replace my AV7005 smile.gif

I recently acquired a SR5007. I love it and over all, if one is experienced with speakers and set up, it's very user friendly. But with it's manual on a CD, trust me, it totally blows when trying to find a finite piece of information. Grrrrrrrrrr!, how I hate manuals on a CD.

FYI, all Marantz manuals are available for download. Before purchasing my SR5007, I downloaded the PDF manual. Online or CD, I still prefer a hard copy.

I find it easier / faster to search for details when in a PDF vs. a printed index.

+1

And it's a lot easier to print a pdf than to scan and convert to text a hard copy.

^ ^ ^
Plus, if you load the PDF into an iPad (or other tablet, I imagine), it's handy, searchable and portable.

I'm old school, I grew up with pencils/paper and was taught to use a physical index; flip to page number......

And I don't own anything more complicated then a Windows 7/64 desktop computer interface. Credit being to my old man dinosaur status, I know how to swap out boards, HDD's, download and successfully install.........automatically installed drivers.

Now that Cedia has come does anyone know if Marantz is releasing a prepro that has XT32?

Not @ Cedia.

But the AV8801 will be for sale round the year end:
price +/- 3K
XT32
11.2 DSX
copper casing
32/192 DAC's

There's no more info than I gave. The pics were also not of the AV8801 but from the 7701. Although I bet it looks 100% the same upfront.

Funny that Marantz isn't even mentioning the AV8801 @ Cedia. You should think the thing would be near complete several months after they talked about it in Valencia since it is anounced for the year end. I guess it's a commercial decision to put the 7701 in the market as the top pre-pro for the folks who don't actually spend a lot of time on AV-websites... And in three months they can score again.

Haven't heard yet, but hoping it also has balanced inputs, as neither the 7005 or the 7701 did where my 8003 does.

It'd better have a XLR stereo input at that price. Would be real bummer if one could not connect something like the Oppo BDP-95 (or better: BDP-105) in the optimal way.

Well it looks safer to say it does, going by the rear image posted in thread

When will Marantz make a receiver with xt32?

That's a disappointing thought. Right now the new AV8801 pre-pro is a bit beyond my reach.
Remember that Denon and Marantz equipment use many of the same circuit boards. In other words, if you want a D&M receiver with XT32, you should consider the Denon AVR 4520 or the discontinued 4311. The 4520 is about 2/3 the cost of the 8811.

You"re correct, Selden; thanks for the advice!
