Looks like the chap slept in too late to upload pics and questions before having to go to school. I wonder if we need to help him install these as well

Thanks. No problem.

My largest worry is that this dude probably has no idea who Bill Murray is other than 'that guy' from Zombieland.

Anyway.... a juice box for my little friend here.

That's almost worse than bad audio....

I'll update you on the shakers later.

For $250 that ML theater system is decent, for $500 not so much. Definitely better than the Polks you linked. The receiver seems over-priced and you could likely get much nicer for less money. Do you have a total system budget in mind or are we just dreaming here? What are you hoping to achieve in your media room? What are the room dimensions?

The shakers in the seat will need some form of sub-amp. They do not require much power, so any decent plate amp tucked away would work. You will need to find out the ohm rating of the shakers and power rating, probably 4 ohm and 50 watts, and decide which plate amps to use and the best way to wire them to the plate amp, either series for 12 ohm mono or series/parallel for 6ohm load if you go with a single amp for all 3. Or just connect one amp per shaker. If they are custom theater seats, you might check to see if a plate amp is already installed some where before buying a new one. If there is a plate amp already installed, then you just need to connect an RCA cable from the receiver LFE output to the input on the plate amp and plug it in.

As for the quality of posts here and the degree of knowledge, I have been in the Audio industry for over 25 years and learn something every time I come here. You get what you give. Come with respect and receive knowledge. Come with disdain and expect ridicule.

PS Since you misspelled your screen name, what did you want it to be instead?

Haha I'll stop being pissy, now down to business. I took pictures but I don't have access to them yet (gotta wait till 5). I do remember some parts, the shakers were all 50 watt and there was some sort of amplifier I believe. Made by Aura? It had a "Shaker" female plug, in and out, and some other wires...I also noticed a rocker switch on the bottom of the top half of the chair, and at the way bottom of the chair was a 2.4 GHz receiver. I found the transmitter but what are all these doing? I'm confused with the rocker switch and the receiver.

These bass shakers?
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=299-028

If so, maybe just reading the details on the page could help some as well. Parts Express has some information there.

I couldn't get clear pictures or a clear look at them...but yes. I'd say those look exact.

If those are them, then what do you guys think about the Behringer epq304 to power them? With 3 drivers, it "gets weird" impedance wise, so going with a 4x75 amp should help that out a bit.

It sounds like there are amps built into the seats themselves with a wireless connection. Just connect the transmitter up to the LFE output on whatever AVR you go with and plug in the chairs.

But....the rocker switch....and....the receiver.....What do they do? Because with the amp...(or what seems to be) it has an input and output on it
post #43 of 56
Without knowing the internal wiring, it is all just guessing. The rocker switch might be a power switch(most likely), or possibly a source select switch. The inputs and outputs are for daisy chaining the amps.

And question: Where should I shop for media equipment?
There really is no one stop for shopping sadly. Partsexpress is good to start with, but they don't have everything. For the best price on things, you really need to look everywhere though.

Dubstep and random problems with my health had finally helped me to produce the video....If I can find out how to upload it.

VG roots?
Bass shakers can be powered by an old AVR. Use an RCA splitter and select whatever DSP allows direct processing, meaning whatever comes in to the RCA input, gets amplified and sent out.

For a subwoofer and the rest of your gear, Craigstlist is a great place to shop, so long as you're patient and know approx prices of how much things are worth. You can then either look for say 10 different speakers, or just keep your eyes peeled for one exact speaker, say Infinity Alpha series. You can usually find some good deals on used gear that will sound way better than some new cheap crap you can buy at Best Buy.

Next up, do some research on room acoustics, speaker placement, and anything else of interest. There's enough info here to make your nose bleed so long as you're willing to put in the work.

Alright, and after watching over the video I realized I went full (idiot) and was totally out of it (with explaining and understanding). The setup seems to be done already, but I still wanna know what goes where.

Everybody know you never go full idiot. You don't buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001 "I am Sam".

i think watching that video gave me ADD.

Why not find an installer in your area and get a quote on setting up the system from the pieces you have? Unless you are hiding some kind of HT talents from us, its unlikely you will get much help from the web here.

Get someone who does this for a living to at least come out for a consultation.

YESSSSS Mission accomplished...but thatdoesn't make sense...ADD? Anyway, I'd rather learn myself. I don't want to spend more money on something I could do.
