I am not really sure why people are hung up on the whole pooling or spanned idea anyway. As I mentioned he wanted the drives to appear as 1 large drive and wanted it done in the simplest way possible.

As he has (or will have) a server with duplicate data he isn't worried about data loss. We informed him multiple times that data could be lost in event of a drive failure and he understood those risks.

Again, not how I would use it necessarily but its also not my HTPC.

Assassin's question was directed at the fact that hockeyrcks9901 seemed to imply that a pooled drive has fault tolerance, whereas a spanned drive is similar but doesn't.

As far as I can tell, they're both the exact same thing and both don't have any fault tolerance...

If it's just media it might not be ultra important.

I mean the TV shows I record.. I could probably live without them. lol.

You don't see many of these builds .... but such a slick looking case.
