cdub5,

To find out if it is the TV or the source, use your STB to put the game in a window. If the pops are only in the small window screen, then it is the source that is the problem and not the TV. Modern arenas where hockey games are played have many flashes going off regularly.

Who is doing your calibration. If it's someone with a good reputation here at AVS then it might be best to ask your calibrator.

It probably doesn't make a difference.

geek squad. I got the silver premier so its free with that. Just curious if it will make a difference since right now my xbox and cable box use 2 different hdmi ports but when i use the AVR it will be 1 hdmi cable and the AVR will control input.

just curious if it really matters. I am guessing not.

Yes according to the Samsung website the e7000 is compadeble with the wireless keyboard...just a quick note my e7000 had a very nice picture out the box but now at the 450 hour mark it looks beyond gorgeous..

I wouldn't expect much from a BB calibration. If you're lucky, you'll get what you've paid for.

Question? When watching movies with black bars on top and bottom why does my c8000 led have darker bars than my e7000 plasma...keep in mind that the c8000 does not have the cinema black feature the d series has, so it does not turn off the LEDs on the bottom and top...but besides the black bars, the e7000 has much deeper blacks when watching the actual content it's not even a fair fight ,also the when watching quantum of solace the black cars and tuxedos are much darker than the black bars on the screen...so basically what I wanted to know is do black bars really determine the black level of tvs? Kuz this is certainly not the case with me

Anyone have any problems with the wireless network. I switched from dsl to uverse and now I can't connect. Some times when it searches for the network it never changes the progress bar and then takes you back to the start button. Other times it will display the next progress bar and show the active wifi it found but only for a split second, other times it pops out of the network main menu before you can do anything. I've powered up down several times upluged form the wall and reset the display with no sucess.

I was able one time to get into the menu one time and it found my gateway but then it would never connect after entering in the pass phrase.

Any ideas?

Does anyone else feel the supplied back-lit remote control's "lighting" is extremely weak? Even in pitch dark the back-lit buttons are just barely visible, even with fresh batteries. Is this the case with everyone or did I just get lucky?

I've got a PN60D7000 with a stuck pixel on the left hand upper corner of the screen. I tried running JSreenFix that I burned onto a DVD to try to fix the problem but after running it an hour the dead pixel is still there. As I understand it Samsung's warranty only covers 4 or more dead pixels. Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem. Your prompt relies will be greatly appreciated.

If you pay attention to what you are watching, from your normal seat, do you notice this pixel?

If it's black, it's dead and you can't fix it. If it's a color then it's stuck, and you might fix it by running full screen Pixar type movies that have a heavy use of primary colors.

Most people can't see a dead or stuck pixel from normal viewing distances -- especially if the dead pixel is in a corner and the viewer is interested in the content on the screen.

Hello I'm from Brazil and I received my Samsung E8000 51 "last Friday.

Unfortunately seems to have problem.

A line of red pixels on white and clear images on the right side.

asked to return for another unit, since it is the legal period to return by the laws of BR

But anyone have any idea what this could be?

It is normal to see the colored pixels on the right edge of screen. Every plasma television does this. Not sure what you mean about a clear image but it is also normal to see a gap between edges of screen and bezel. Your replacement set will exhibit the exact same behavior.

My 2 plasmas do not display the colored pixels.

Floridaman, tks.

Its normal ????

I have an old PANA PV70 and never saw this....

The line of red pixel just appears on light scenes like snow or light blue sky, in dark scenes don´t see the red !!

Tks for reply.

EDIT:

ferl,

what are your plasmas ?

Correct. I even got up close to screen and I do not see that issue. Your photos appear to be very close to the screen as the individual pixels can be seen. How close to the screen were you when you took those photos?
Do you have your resolution mode set to screen fit or 16.9? Do you have a cable box connected?Try setting it to 16.9 IF its set to screen fit.I know for a fact that Time warner cable processing doesnt quite fit the whole screen panel in screen fit mode
post #2629 of 4154
ferl,

I took the photo with macro function near the screen (3 or 4 cm).

Sitting on the couch can not see this issue (distance from the couch to the screen - 2.6 meters)

jroptop,

yes set resolution to 16.9.

Tests with wdtv (mkv 720p, photos and mp4 with color pattern to fix stuck pixel). during my tests change the resolution to screen fit and same red line....

Tks all !

Where do I go on this forum to find someone in my State/City to Caliberate my TV?
Had the exact same problem. It's the internal Wifi adapter. Called Samsung and they sent out a tech to replace the Wifi adapter. Make sure you verify with the 3rd party technician that they are fixing the Wifi, not the bluetooth. They ordered the wrong part and replaced the bluetooth which has nothing to do with internet connection. Had to wait an additional week for them to sort this out.

Sorry, but I don't buy that one. The wifi is working on DSL and they change the modem/router to change over to Uverse and the TV can't connect to the new router? I don't think the electronics in the TV just failed. I don't know how to fix the issue, but I would suspect a software provisioning issue before hardware failure.

I have a pn 64d8000 as well as the pn64e8000 and had that same exact issue on my d8000,it almost seems as the screen shrunk from the panel, anyway, contacted Samsung, service tech came out,saw what I was referring to,ordered a new panel and havent seen that issue since on the d8000,E8000 has no issues

You can post in the thread that's linked in the signature area at the bottom of my post.

Of course it will help if you indicate were you are located. wink.gif

If you look closely enough you will see a line of red pixels at the edge of the displayable image especially if you are displaying a white image. Some people are more sensitive to this and I have the same set as the OP and it has the same colored pixels. I also have a Panasonic Plasma set that is five years old and it does the same thing. You can only see this when you are very close to the display but not from a normal viewing distance. Guarantee if a tech looked at the OP's set he would tell him the same thing, it is normal.

In an attempt to help Flaviocc with his question, I displayed the white image from breakin slides and set both displays to 16:9 and screen fit. I looked at both displays up close "6 inches" and there is no line of red pixels. Guarantee if a tech looked at my displays and can see red lines, he's imagining things or has issues with his vision. I must have the only 2 displays in existence that are abnormal.

Ran through everything with Samsung Tech Support and they scheduled a service call. The tech called today and said it sounded like the wifi board and is coming out with one and a new main processor.

On a side note after I did the reset I noticed the dreaded buzz that many have talked about ad-nauseum. I mentioned this to tech support while we were on the phone and she asked be about calibrating my system, I told her just via a test DVD. She said to make sure my settings were set up as before. After the reset eveything went back to standard mode and I thats when I noticed the loud buzz. Set it back to movie mode etc and the buzz is gone ... interesting.

I ran the uniformity test (the one with all blue and red pixels on) from Disney WOW and I notice on the right side a row maybe two of the red pixels. Don't see it with regular content.
