No shot at the 8500. They would rather just give you your money back but they will replace the panel if you bought the extended warranty.

thanks...I seriously doubt they would be interested in replacing the panel either

I will probably just call them next week and go for the service call and see what they say

I have had good and not so good experience with BB extended warranty

I had an issue with a receiver a few years ago...I paid $300...and they gave me $1000( full MSRP of the unit)

I was in the same situation you are in on a pn60e7000 and the tech placed an order for a new panel. I had bought the TV 2 weeks earlier. Then a week later I was told they couldn't get the part within the 14 days so I will need to pick out another TV. Since I underpaid by hundreds they did not want to give me anything else but luckily I dealt with a great manager there who basically put me at the retail price of the TV they were replacing and I would just need to pay the difference for anything else I wanted or pay nothing of the TV retailed for the same price.

I will tell you that every store is different and they really can screw you if they want to.

well went to another BB yesterday and why do you know they had a 51E8000 on the wall in Magnolia

I called today and asked if they would exchange the Tv with burn in for the one they had on display...as I would rather just exchange the Tv than have to deal with the extended warranty

They said sure....switched it out...their Tv even had all the accessories

so to get this Tv for about $575....I am very pleased

Sorry 200$ is not that much. I am not loaded. Just think I spent 3,000$ on my tv last year, Why would I want a outdated tv. When I can just spend 200$ and keep my Tv investment up to date.

i agree with you. to me its no different than when we buy a new updated windows program for instance. we dont go out and buy a whole new laptop! i think it is an awesome concept.

The picture quality is already great on the E8000 and the EK couldn't change it to the 2013's 8500 plasmas because the panels are different.
For me getting the EK MAKES perfect sense a little under two hundred dollars gives you features of the 2013 TV's.
I'LL say one thing that since I upgraded my PN60E8000 with the evolution kit blacks seem to be blacker IMHO I didn't put a meter on it but too the eye very black in black areas.

true but yes still fills a niche, which is nice! good to hear it works well for you. even tho i have the 8500, i will probably add one of these in a couple years depending on their developements of course....

I have 64E8000 with Time Warner multi room DVR. When I use the last channel button on the remote; before the channel changes the screen turns black, the input of the TV shows in the upper left corner and the bottom has a row of menu icons. This delays the channel change considerably. Is there a way to override or improve the delay?

is it every time or when the resolution is changing ? Some channels are 1080i and some 720p and there is a delay changes between them and the menu box showing resolution pops up

reported a few pages back that my 64e7000 had died.. tech came out and replaced the y sustain board. TV worked for about 8 hours with some rebooting before dying again. called samsung, tech came back and now said the power supply board is bad, so waiting for that part. What i can say is for the 8 hours it did work it did not look right at all, screen had kinda a pinkish hue to it. So not feeling to good about this.

i was going to wait on the evolution kit. i just replaced my PN50C7000 with a PN51F5500 i wanted to see what the smart hub was all about.
it just was not in my budget to get the 8500 thats why i got the 5500 for now but ended up getting the EK as well because i do like the new smart hub.
i must have more money then brains (not)

It does appear to be the resolution box that is coming up. Anything I can do about it?

tech came back today and replaced the power supply board.. tv is working again but.... tried watching the movie Aviator tonight and during panning of the sky i noticed these pinkish lines in the screen, running a full white and gray screen after comfirmed my panel now has a pink hue, lines and spots.. but worst of all the buzzing is very bad now... i had some on high contrast here and there before being worked on.. but now just a steady loud buzz when sitting in front of it 11ft away...

I am having a new problem with my PN64E7000. Often, the TV will power cycle itself a few minutes after initial power-on. It does not seem to matter what input I am on, or what I am watching, although it does seem more likely to do the power cycle if I start watching recorded content on my Dish Hopper. It is really just annoying for now, but I fear it is a symptom of a larger problem I have not seen yet. Has anyone else seen anything like this before?

Thanks,
Ted

i posted above you that i was having major problems, mine started with the rebooting now and then. then it was constant till dead. Now looks like my panel is shot since it is turning a purple pink color getting worse by the day. I would call in warrentie right away. if it is the same problem as mine could be power supply board altho the tech replace the Y sustain board first and tv was still rebooting.i fact since those repairs it has rebooted 2-3 times. ang buzzes very loud now. so third call to samsung tommorow. i suppose u try nip it now or wait and see what happens, but dont let ur warrentie run out.

I've got a 4-year replacement warranty from Best Buy, so I am not that concerned. I guess I will go ahead and call Samsung to see what they say.

Thanks,
Ted

just found out today the tech working on my 64 has now said the panel is shot. starting to think i am not plasma worthy. started a few years ago with a panasonic minute i plugged it in loud pop from the back, so took it back and exchanged for the samsung C637000. that lasted a year and then the panel went with pink purple bands, now my 64e7000 same thing the C model did, but much worse. starting to think if samsung offers replacement i should just go led altho i cringe at that thought, ive not seen one that think compares to a good plasma, but two tv's in two years is not cool either.

Samsung had my TV worked on twice for the above. now i have a pink/purple hue and some bars on the screen and very bad buzzing. tech would not come out to the house but had me send pics of the tv.to forward them to samsung, samsung claims the problems with my tv are my fault and that it is burn in and warrentie has ended even tho i still have over a month left. funny this tv has never had a hint of ir and was great till it died, but now its all my fault and they wont stand behind it... last i knew ir or burn in did not turn a sreen pink.
