Only if it's because change of mind, OP's case was not. And IMHO it's not acceptable if it's a defective or damaged product, I expect a free replacement or full refund, including shipping and that's what amazon has always given me









) Newegg happily credited me the difference almost two weeks post purchase with a quick phone call. I recall the rep specifically stating that my extensive purchase history with them was a factor in their decision.
