Samsung PNxxE8000/7000 Deals Thread

Should be soon, I purchased the E6500 through Amazon direct yesterday. I heard a rumor that the E8000 would today and the E7000 next week, but I don't see the E8000 on there yet. Maybe both will be next week.

This thread has my attention.

best place i have found to find good deals is bountii dot com. also, i avoid amazon as at least here in NY I have to pay the sales tax with them.

Where are you seeing this on Amazon. When I search by the specific model it doesn't show up and when I search by all 2012 plasma models it doesn't show up among the options.

EDIT UPDATE: Interesting. When I do a google search for it, I can find an Amazon link and go directly to the Amazon page. But if I cut an paste the same exact keyword string: "samsung PN64E8000" (and I also tried 60 inch variations for the 7000 and 8000) into Amazon's keyword search it can't find it and only suggests alternative models.

I Purchased my PN51E8000 From best buy today. Its not on there website but they do have it on display and had about 57 units in there wharehouse. It will be at my door friday morning. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Already received my PN64E8000 from BB for $3100. Its being replaced by another one Tuesday because my 1st one has an ANNOYING buzz.

Good luck with that. If you hear the buzz, you will likely hear it again with the next set. This has been an issue 4 years of sets in a row. Some hear it, some don't (or barely do).

I just got rid of a 63" C8000 which had no buzz. I hear this on my E8000 from 14 feet. If the new one also buzzes, I will look at Panny's.

Hope this isn't off topic, but since you mentioned it - How did you get it for $3100? Its about $200 more in Boston area and off the web site.

Any good 6500 deals?

Will there be a major price change on April 1st? I have been trying to decide between this and a VT50, but that could change my mind quickly.

That's really the $500 question. I wish I knew.

didn't know where to post, but here goes my question:
planning to get 64 inch samsung plasma. will there really be any picture difference to an untrained eye between the e7000 and e8000?
Also, is it worthwhile to get an extended type warranty such as what best buy offers, or just stay with the standard 1 year manufacturers? guess i could also use my american express card to get double the manufacturers warranty, but are the ones the stores sell worthwhile to get?

The onlt real difference is all the new features, like the camera/mic only on the E8000 , also , no VOICE/ MOTION CONTROLL on the E7000. Other than that I believe the E8000 and the E7000 will be very very close pq wise. I like the E8000 as I use the web browser ofter and speaking is so much easier than typing. I also, like the face recognition cause when I am using the tv it has all my presets and apps ready and I find that very useful.

All [lasma's have a buzz, some louder than others , but all manufacturers have this complaint. The difference is to what extent. Samsung did very well last year in this area, although there were still some that reported loud buzzing. I never heard it on my D8000 at all, even when the room was dead silent. My E8000 has only the faintest buzz, if it is all silent , tv sound off, I have to stand with my ear to the back of the set to even hear it at all.
Other people said that get a louder buzzing, could be the set, could be people more sensitive to it ? I can tell you that cash registers really bother me as I hear a loud high pitch buzzing from them when no one else does.

wow. did some asking on another forum and finding issues with qc for samsung plasmas. is this a real concern? is panasonic a better option for plasma?

Chances are you were hearing that from people who are fans of Panasonic. Years ago it was fair to say that Samsung had worse QC than Panasonic but since then Samsung has gotten better and, unfortunately, Panasonic has gotten, let's say "less consistent" in QC and customer service. They are now both the best in class, not close to perfect but still decent. Anyone telling you Panny is unequivocally better is either a Panny fanboy or had a previous bad experience with Sammy and is making sweeping generalizations. Last year there was some QC problems on the Samsungs with brightness pops and filter screen peeling. These were solved. On Panasonic there were also problems with brightness pops, color decoding and persistent IR in some cases. They solved the first, and decided the latter were minor enough not to address. And both brands have had issues with picture quality issues when using 1080@24fpx modes. You objectively couldn't look at either company and say one had better QC than the other. And even PQ is a wash -- Panny tested with better blacks, Samsung with better color accuracy.

The Samsung buzz is real. I sent back two PN64D7000s last year because of bug-zapper loud buzzing. Anyone who says it doesn't exist is just lucky they got a quiet one.

More likely some are more sensitive to it than others. I can hear a buzz from my Samsung with the sound off in a quiet room but it has never bothered me. Some people just hear differently than others. When this first became a huge issue on these boards 3 years ago people were posting videos and audio files and not once could I hear the buzz meaningfully in any of those examples. But others could.

I also purchased a PN51E8000 at Best Buy on 3-25-23. It was delivered today 3-27-12). What a great set. Anyone has any preferred settings for this model?

I also own a July 2011 Panny VT30. It is going to be interesting to compzre picture quality.

will be getting the e8000 64 inch. seems the only place here in st louis is bb to have them available. 7000 not in yet. pricing now is 3299. anyone know is the price going to go up april 1? should i get an extended warranty, and if so, from who? will prob put on amex credit card to get extended year on manufacturers. will that be enough?

Extended warranties are a personal decision. It depends on your risk tolerance and how often you like to upgrade tech anyway. I prefer to "self insure" in that I assume the risk of having to repair or replace the set if necessary. There's not much in the way of moving parts on a TV and it doesn't typically get moved around or roughly handled. So you're really just insuring the odds of a part failure after the store return and manufacture warranty period expire. While not impossible, the odds are low which is why these warranties are such profit centers for the companies that sell them.

Since there are few if any reviews or detailed performance tests out of the E8000 yet, out of curiosity what is it about the set that makes you willing to spend approx. $900 more than the D8000 is available for?

I just bought the 64e8000 ($3100 BB) and did not buy the warranty. Use a credit card that doubles the manufacturers warranty. That's what I did with my Amex bluecash.

Amazon has the E8000 and E7000 series listed now. Their prices are higher than Best Buy's.

They list the 64e7000 for $2999 and the e8000 for $3297. My Best Buy lists full MSRP on both. And they aren't even available on Best Buy online yet. Amazon is no tax and free delivery. That no tax is worth at least another $210 in my state.
