Nah, they were way too dog-eared and tattered, having been read and re-read dozens of times, with soda and hot-dog stains, etc., to appeal to collectors. But they were priceless to me.

Exact same thing happened to me. I had a collection of ~200. Among them was a first edition Green Lantern. Except for 6 or 7 I had stashed away, they were all tossed by my mother while in college. Also tossed were all the 45 r.p.m. single records I had. I'm still a little miffed at that. Guess I should let it go after ~40 years. Right?

Some things just can't be forgiven. All those years she fed us, clothed us, told us she loved us.... then this. This.... betrayal! Only dementia - which Mrs. Archi is firmly convinced is already settling in - can bring blessed relief from an injustice so unjust, a loss so keenly felt. Don't give up your righteous anger, for it gives us the fuel to endure. Like Oliver Queen! His mom done him wrong too. (See what I did there? Back on topic! smile.gif )

Surprise!
Her MS Surface promo scene this week was hilariously stupid. She has the ability to identify metals and patents by looking at them and then hacks into the shipping manifest by searching on Bing. rolleyes.gif

Wow, I had exactly the opposite reaction. I think the IT girl is the hottest girl on the show. Tall, blonde, wears nerdy glasses, what's not to like? I'll even take MS Surface promo scenes, if it gets her a little more screen time. Now they just need to get her out of the office once and awhile.

The Windows 8 plugs on this show are nothing compared to the deluge of Apple product placements on a show like Grimm, so as annoying as I find the inclusion of the Surface tablet, Arrow is nowhere near the top of my list of shows with annoying promotions.

Which is exactly my point. She's come straight from the CW teen-marketing machine and given nerd glasses and affectations to tone down the fact she is hot girl in an implausible position.

Adults can only be on CW shows if they are parental figures, otherwise we would have had a regular looking middle-aged guy with a family playing IT genius. Instead we have someone who is just waiting for the episode where she gets to take off her glasses, put on an evening gown and magically transform into a hot girl.

I wouldn't be surprised if its an episode in which Queen asks her to go undercover with him as a fake date at a major gala thrown by a bad guy.

It's mostly a Superman thing. Don't ask me why, but plenty of Superman characters names alliterate with "L".

With Marvel, Stan Lee just went alliterative crazy:

Doctor Doom
Peter Parker
Green Goblin
Reed Richards
Sue Storm
Curtis Connors
Carlie Cooper
Betty Brant
J. Jonah Jameson
Pepper Pots
Bruce Banner

etc.

I thought the same thing.  But if I remember correctly they are in the sub-sub basement of that warehouse and down in the sewers.  So I think it's just sewer runoff.

Are they? I thought there were warehouse/factory-type windows up high, some source of natural light. Ollie needs to be concerned about his vitamin D levels. Erased them from the box so can't go back and check.

Warehouses in general are built on concrete slabs and don't have basement levels, and Oliver didn't have time for such an extensive construction project so soon after his return from the Island Of Doom.

Definately "down below" ... remember "Ollie" has plans to open a nightclub in the space above his lair.

It wasn't all a waste of time, no matter how many times my mother told me that... The amazing artwork of the comic world - especially giants like Russ Manning of Gold Key and Jack Kirby at Marvel - influenced me to practice my drawing skills which were later incorporated into my eventual career. I had a terrific collection, up until my mom cleaned out the basement and threw most of them away while I was at college. I still mourn their loss. frown.gif

I was lucky.

I had a mother who would never, ever do that to me....because it happened to her.

Her mother threw out all her records on her when she went away to college - years of collecting with her own money tossed without asking.

Some things are not able to be forgiven.

LOL; you guys are hilarious! My mom used to bark at me for reading "funny books". But she didn't realize those books helped improve my reading skills and expand my vocabulary. I wouldn't trade away that experience for anything. And to get back on-topic, I've yet to see a single ep of Arrow, but will tune in very soon.

The CW teen-marketing machine works for me and I am certainly nowhere near that target age (but I am a teenager at heart!). These shows are all about escapism. Why should the IT guy be a middle-aged guy with a family? Where I work most of the IT people seem to be under 30. Granted most of them probably can't do the things the girl in the show can. Or maybe they can, but they don't because they don't want to end up fired or in jail for so blatantly breaking the law.

I wish I knew somebody in show's production office, because I would like to get you a spot on their writing staff. Sending her undercover to a gala event with Queen is a brilliant idea.

I like the IT chick obvious product placement aside, not like anyone didn't know it was coming... Won't be the last that's for sure.

Idenity of the archer is wb like tarded. "he" is a good archer? Lame.

Because the director of photography thinks it looks cool. The same reason streets are ALWAYS wet in night scenes, even in the middle of Los Angeles during a heat wave.

Your on XboX live, Steam, Facebook(?).. You're in the system man!

Mediocre bad guy motive last night, but I did enjoy seeing Queen fail in a fatal fashion. His self-doubt didn't last very long, but some occasional vulnerability and defeat will at least keep the character human.

I'm really liking this show, but agree that this was a mediocre episode at best.  Some good stuff, some bad.  It did nothing to damage my loyalty, just an off night.

The plot was very familiar. I think I have seen it on several shows that I have watched. They may not all have been super-hero shows... but I know the plot has been recycled a few times.
Pretty weak episode plot-wise, but you can't win 'em all. If the warehouse above burned, the wooden floor would have as well, and Ollie's secret lair would have been, well...toast. Nevertheless, it's a superhero show so I'm not going to sweat those kinda' details. But I did think they'd have scheduled a stronger comeback episode from the holiday hiatus.

When are they going to start calling him "Arrow" instead of "The Hood"...? Maybe they're saving that for the second season, perhaps about the time Black Canary makes her debut, then maybe in the third they'll finally get around to calling him "Green Arrow". I can see them parceling out the goodies slowly...

Diggs and Ollie commented on the concrete and steel of the entire warehouse complex. It didn't burn to the ground, and the floors were not wood sooo...biggrin.gif

If Smallville provides any indication, never.

Pretty sure it will not happen, since a couple of episodes ago Malcolm Merlyn (John Barroman's character) suggested calling him 'Green Arrow', and Oliver said that sounded stupid.

^^I'm trying to remember that scene - wasn't it at a dinner, in front of others? In that context, i could see Oliver saying that to cast off any suspicion. I.e., if he'd said "that's a great name" and then suddenly was being called "Green Arrow", then one MIGHT make a correlation that only a few people heard that, wonder which one it was???? I'm not expressing myself well - too long of a day and not enough caffeine. Hope you understand what I was trying to say.

I do get what you are trying to say, but I still think that was the show's way of saying 'yeah, we aren't doing that.'. But I could be wrong.
I would guess that it is probably a legal thing. Not using the names "Green Arrow" and "Superman" probably gives the producers of these shows some extra degree of control, deniability, or indemnity that they would otherwise waive by directly associating their shows with those characters' brands.

They even changed the name of the city from Star City to Starland City for some strange reason.
