In the case of my bad 809 that came from OneCall, they replaced it with another new 809 and upon arrival I ran the serial number and got the message saying that this receiver does NOT need the update/repair.

Saw this on the Asia/Oceania Onkyo site

http://www.intl.onkyo.com/whats_new/2012_0304.html

Includes the 3009 and shows the 8th and 9th digit of the serial number of the effected models.

I think those serial # reflect Nov,Dec,& January. I might be wrong on those dates but it looks like Onkyo still has not resolved its quality problems.

I purchased my 709 mid February and I have been wondering why my new speakers contain a lot of random static. Its actually been driving me kind of crazy because I pretty much listen to music at any moment that I am using my receiver.

I plugged in my serial number on the website but it says that mine does not need the update.

Now im kind of worried, i definitely have static noise coming from each speaker when i listen to music and its really bugging me.

What should I do?

Greetings,

Contact Onkyo and request repair. Serial number or not you more than likely have an affected unit.

Just found out I have a defective SR309 based on serial number. I have the static and shutdown problem, but also notice frequent audio dropout using HDMI or optical (but not with analog) from my U-Verse cable box, and delayed audio when switching channels (picture changes instantly; audio follows 2-3 seconds later). Had exact same setup w old Sony receiver but didn't have any of these problems.

I'm hoping everything gets fixed - or maybe they'll just send a new unit. Like with the just-released SR313. Wishful thinking, I'm afraid.
