Thanks for the tip mclix! Its amazing how you had the exact same experience where it wouldn't happen initially but then start appearing. I will look into what you said tomorrow. So do you feel it is ok for me to go ahead and do the usb update to 1022 or leave the tv as is? I am currently on 1017 I believe.

My firmware is 1027

Just FYI, the Firmware for the E6500 TV's are different depending on the size. The latest version for the 51" is 1017.

Mine is the PS51E6500EUXXU version 2.

Made in Hungary October 2012.

Not only size, but country as well. If you rpeort a new firmware or firware version its always best to list the country you live in and the specific set you have.....

Well regardless of the firmware you have, the issue will still be due to the SyncPlus application. I updated the firmware to the latest just in case, but deactivated SyncPlus. Honestly, don't update unless you have some other issues, but just deactivate SyncPlus

Hi All,

Aplogies if this might have been addressed before but how does one get to access a USB Flash Drive on this TV? Nothing comes up for selection via the "Source" Button & trying to access it via "AllSharePlay" Smart function under "Video" & then "USB" comes up with "There is no device connected" when clearly there is. I have tried both USB Ports & same result.

I can confirm that mclix's fix works. Updated the second tv (dunno why) + to the latest firmware which turned out to be 1024 for me. I have the pn60e6500 and live in the US.

Immediately following update lines and flickering. Disabled syncplus and problem was resolved. I guess I never needed to return that first set. Thanks again!

You would think that Samsung would know and tell people to not update until this error was fixed. Or / and tell people to switch off these items.

I don't have anything called SyncPlus in my TV. There is something called SugarSync. It all seems to be 'greyed out'. Maybe it only comes on if the TV is connected to the modem/router or internet?

This fixed things for me as well. Thank you. I always update the firmware because if I don't the apps stop responding, particularly Amazon Video.

Hi everyone, I'm sitting at home waiting for the truck to deliver my 60e6500. I had time so i read this whole thread but i didn't see the answer to a question I have.
How many of you actively broke in your tv's and what did you use? I downloaded some slides from post 8 of this thread http://www.avsforum.com/t/1439385/are-there-any-hd-channels-without-logos (5 shades of rgb and 5 shades of black gray white). I have also seen a thread about pixel jogger that sounds like it is basically a strobe between black and white.
I can't just leave the tv on a hd channel because my dish hopper turns itself off after a few hours.

But i really don't know if i want to even bother with doing anything. I'm just curious of other peoples opinions.

OK no response to my last post but its ok.
I just wanted to say, with all of the negative stuff on here, i got mine and it has no noticeable issues. I love it.
I'm keeping the cell light low for now which kinda sucks. But i've put it up to 20 for a moment or ten and am excited for when i got some time into it and am comfy with cranking it up. Way better than the samsung 60 inch es6100 led that i returned.

also when i first fired it up i heard a slight buzz but it went away after the first 10 minutes and never came back.

The set has a built in scroll bar which you can use. Mine does luckily not buzz but has another bad issue: red push on white, check it here:

I was reading in the history of this thread that some might have suffered too from that but has there been any solution?

I just got mine too. I haven't actively tried to break it in yet. But I've only had it for about a week and a half. I should probably do something.

USb works for me. I plug in the usb drive before I turn the TV on and it appears in the Source window. Also shows up when in AllShare


Regarding breaking in. I didn't go with slides on this set. Just watching tv and avoiding any letterbox stuff. Haven't tried a calibration disc yet but have tried CNET's settings which are decent although initially feel a little dull. digital trends also posted their settings of the tv.

I have that too but it doesn't bother me. It's never an issue during normal TV viewing. The only time it bothers me is when I boot up my Wii U which has a mostly white opening screen.

Ha! Right this very second an iPad commercial just came on with a big white background and again, it didn't look too bad.

NEW PROBLEM: Has anyone had an issue where the Smart TV Hub menu screen pops up for a few seconds during normal television viewing? It's very weird and seems to happen after a minute or so of the television being turned on. It's very irritating. I'm hoping someone has a fix for this like the flickering SyncPlus issue.

same problem with smart hub screen flashing at startup - has been occurring for about a week. Hopefully someone notifies samsung of the software issue

Same has been happening to me too. Ever since the last system upgrade it'll flash for a brief second, usually within a few minutes of turning on the TV. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing on it.

Same issue here. I have the smart hub appear and disappear everytime i turn the TV on, and it happen after about a minute of it being on. Really irritating. I thought it was because I havent had time to setup the apps or an account to login yet. Good to know in a way it's not just my tv.

I replaced the TV with Amazon so this is my second one. Previous one had flickering lines when on 1080p inputs. I didn't know about the SyncPlys issue and just got irritated and returned the TV. Good to know that too. But it doesn't seem to happen on this one.

Hopefully Samsung or someone will find a fix for this soon.

bought 2 of them and htey both buzz pretty bad

On a white screen or white background do any of you owners of the 60" version of this set see very faint magenta or pink vertical lines or streaks ? I went through four 60" sets and all of them had this issue if you looked very closely in the upper left or right hand area of the screen on white background, I personally can see if I look very closely on certain commercials like the apple ipad commercial that has a white background or during certain movie scenes when the camera pans to a light blue sky such as the opening scenes in 'No Country For Old Men'. Its one of those problems that once you notice it your brain keeps looking for it -

I started to accept this flaw after going through 4 tv sets and 1 panel replacement by Samsung, wonder if this issue is something I can truly fix and/or is this a widespread issue customers haven't noticed until they look for it? I would post a picture of it but the streaks are so faint it does not show up on my camera.

I think that is caused by how the filter is applied on the glass front. Some units have it more, some less. I got mine replaced cause of that. The new one is better, but not completely free of it and I decided to live with it.

I adressed it to Samsung but no answer.

Picked up the PN60E6500 (Canada) yesterday and updated from 1022 to 1024. Contacted Samsung this morning if this was the correct update, because online you can only find the 1022.2 firmware update. The rep looked into it and said yes 1024 is the newest firmware update for your TV, so nothing to worry about. He could not tell me anything regarding the update, but I noticed the picture is a bit brighter with this update.Just wanted to let the North American users know that this is the newest firmare update! (just wanted to make sure I did not screw up my TV as I did with my 51E550 6 months ago, updated through the internet and the picture was crap, samsung said that I did not had the correct update, well why are you offering the update online? Anyway it seems to be correct now for my new 60e6500)

Another tip for Canadians that are wanting to buy this TV: It's on sale at Gibby's at $1398.88. Visions will do a PM and 5% off, so this beast will cost you only $1329,58. Don't think that you will get a better deal during Boxing Day (although you never know). Got it yesterday, wife was very happy with the PQ even with putting it just on RELAX mode (didnt want to stress it too much right out of the box).
Just FYI

I also just send in a complain about this to Samsung. Let's see what they say.

how audible is the buzzing on your sets?

Thanks for posting that pic, this is exactly what I have expect the magenta hue shows up only in the upper right hand area as faint vertical streaks. I also decided to live with it but was worried it may get worse over time - only notice it when I force myself to find it on a white background ,etc.

All four of my sets buzzed, the thing is I never notice it when I watch sports or movies with friends.Mostly notice it when I'm alone watching TV is a perfectly silent room. My PS3 drowns out the buzz when its on, but once again I've decided to live with it because the picture quality is that good and no image retention or banding during sports or when gaming.

I have "51 version and no buzz at all! You can put your ear to screen on white background and there's nothing you can hear. Also i did't notice any other color then white (no magneta, pink or whatever). Strange thing is that in Poland we have firmware 1030 already for some time. I'm running 1029 and see nothing bad with it so i don't bother to update
