Question for you HK guru's!

I can't seem to make up my mind. I currently have the HK AVR 354 running my HT and I also have a small stereo setup with a 1974 Marantz 2240 which is starting to fail I have been thinking about getting an HK 3490 for my 2 channel setup, but they are out of stock almost everywhere. So I'm rethinking things. I may be able to swing getting a AVR 3600 to replace my AVR 354 and then move the 354 over to the 2 channel setup. Would this be worth doing, or should I just hold out for a 3490?

I'm also open to other suggestions. My budget will be between $400 and $500. My goal is superior 2 channel listening while I repair/restore my Marantz.

I would really like some opinions on this. I will have the money very soon and it's already burning a whole in my pocket.

Is this a tax refund emergency...lol?

There are a couple of places that I have seen the Cambridge Audio 550A integrated amplifier marked down for $399 recently. That is a great deal on a very good amplifier. Check it out.

I don't know that the avr 3600 has anything to offer you over the avr 354 or if monetarily it would be worth it.. Used to have a avr 247 and would love to have that again. I personally would just buy a good 2 ch amp.

No lol, the tax money is already spent on other necessities. I have been selling off old equipment and saving for this. I'm afraid that if I don't spend it, something else may come up and I won't be able to. This happens more than you think.

The 3490 and 3390 are available at JR.com for under $300. THe 3490 has a digital input and more power over the 3390 with a price difference of about $50. They also have the 3600 which is about $250 over the 3490. Both idea's you have are sound imo....... I personally would go with the 3490

Just an update, J&R were also out of stock on the 3490. However I found one locally. I bought it private party, but it was brand new. I have tested it and everything is working fine, but I haven't put it through its paces yet.
